Fun fact: Napoleon wanted to enlist in the Russian Imperial Army, but he changed his mind, because then in Russia there was a rule for foreigners that they had to serve with a lower rank, relative to their original one.

You made a mistake here, Moscow wasn't the capital of the Russia during the Napoleonic Wars, Saint Petersburg was, from 1730 to 1918. It only became the capital in 1917 when the Bolsheviks moved the seat of the government due to the German invaders getting too close to Saint Petersburg.

Spain fought with regular army and guerrilla (by the way, the word guerrilla comes precisely from the Spanish at this moment in history). The regular army was not able to stand without the help of the British and the guerrilla was, along with the invasion of Russia, the start of the end for Napoleón. These two extremes of Europe were of impossible digestion for the French.

Napoleon and his marshals led half a million men with paper maps, horse messengers, and by looking them from a nearby hill. Never, in the history of human conflicts, so many men were coordinated, and with such precision, by so few. So yeah, quite impressive.

Napoleon is one of the worst rulers in the world and the worst ruler of France. to lose all the colonies, to lose the prestige of the country, to lose in the population, after Napoleon, nationalism began to emerge in Europe, which would develop into Nazism. After the mediocrity of Napoleon, France was despised by everyone, people stopped speaking French. This is really "genius", which suggests that the worst enemy is always among his own. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Thanks to great heroes like Juan Martín Díez, better known as “el Empecinado” who invented guerrilla warfare or Manuela Malasaña a seamstress from Madrid who fought against the French. There are many reasons at once. The Tilsit Peace (1807) between France and Russia was very flimsy. The continental blockade of England was extremely unprofitable for Russia, so she traded in secret. And by 1811, Russia openly continued to trade with England, and other European countries also traded through Russia. Napoleon did not like it, so he decided to act by force.
+ Napoleon's personal ambitions were also influenced. He wanted to use Russia's resources to capture India, which would be a big blow to England.

This video is giving you a very wrong persoective though. Napoleon didn't conquer and occupy all of Europe. He beat the armies of his enemies and they surrendered to him. These countries were all still completely functional which is why Napoleon wasn't able to win in the end.
The Nazi's on the other hand conquered all of these countries (for the most part) and did indeed occupy and govern them. They were completely under german control. Even against Russia the Nazi's took far more territory and actually governed all of the territory west of moscow. Napoleon didn't occupy anything, he just marched towards Moscow and burned it down which didn't achieve anything.

Old story about two Royal Navy captains having a meal. One is lamenting how Napoleon is master of Europe, the other is more up beat saying who cares we have the rest of the world. (Bit of an exaggeration both ways, but with an element of truth).
But it was trade with the rest of the world and the beginnings of the industrial revolution, which had got a boost from contracts to supply the war time 1,000 ship Royal Navy. (As a contract to the lowest bidder able to supply the Navy with a 1,000,000 widgets a year, was a great incentive for someone to invent and build a steam powered widget factory.) That gave Britain the funds and material to eventually destroy Napoleonic France.

Spain was never Napoleonic territory, until the invasion of 1808. Afterwards, the first major defeat and surrender of a complete Napoleonic army was at Bailen, at the hands of the regular Spanish army. Afterwards he never had complete control of the peninsula, where he also had to face the guerrillas and the British army, and the remains of the regular Spanish army too, finally being totally defeated and expelled from the peninsula after the battles of Vitoria and San Marcial. Napoleon himself acknowledged that his first and greatest ultimate mistake was the invasion of Spain. Disastrous Russia campaign was the finisher.

@@thierryfromgwada9312The moral effect throughout Europe of the first great defeat of an entire Napoleonic army, which also fell entirely prisoner, including all its officers, was undoubtedly the factor that encouraged the spirit of resistance everywhere. THE WEAR OF THE NAPOLEON ARMIES IN THE PENINSULA WAS DECISIVE, to the point that the army that invaded Russia was already composed mostly of recruits of rank or force, from foreigners, not French. Many of them deserted at the first opportunity. For example, the Spaniards who had been part of the Spanish army sent to Denmark under the command of the Marquis of La Romana, joined en masse with the Russians, who formed with them the Imperial Alexander Regiment, placed at the service and guard of the Tsarina. You will have to study the matter a little more.

Napoleon never lost a battle, himself, in the peninsula. But he have already lost a battle before Spain war. Then, the lost of the peninsula didn't affect his personal reputation of invicibility !
The peninsula Wars, was not decisive at all.
He went to Russia with the biggest army ever seen !
The spirit of resistance ?!! What are you talking about ? 😂
During the Russia campaign, russian avoid the direct confrontation, and even burnt their whole capital ! Napoleon reached Moscow, and without winter, no disaster would happen.
What you call spirit of resistance ?? Seriously ?
The others countries did nothing at that time.
Why Spain, Portugal and Great Britain didn't try to invade France before the Russian campaign, if they felt Napoleon so weak ??
Spanish and Portuguese people often overinterpret the lost of the peninsula by Napoleon.
Napoleon invaded the peninsula only for the blockade. These 2 countries was not a threat for France, unlike, the others countries which wanted to destroy the french republic.
If the peninsula was a major objective, threating the french republic, the french army would not have lost.

@@thierryfromgwada9312 The FACT IS THAT NAPOLEON lost the Peninsular War. Napoleon himself tried to right the situation personally, but he saw that he could not achieve it, so he again abandoned his armies on the peninsula, to their fate, just as he did before in Egypt. You can read Thiers' work, where all these things are detailed, despite being very favorable to Napoleon... Furthermore, the Spanish and English armies DID INVADE FRANCE, IN 1913-14, AND CONTRIBUTED DECISIVELY TO THE FALL AND ABDICATION OF NAPOLEÍN, AFTER THE BATTLE OF TOULOUSE, WHICH, OBVIOUSLY, HE LOST. The French chauvinism that you display so ardently, continues to ignore that the so-called 'Grande Armée' that tried to invade Russia, unfortunately failing, was composed, for the most part, of foreign mercenaries, and many of them FORCED. The desertions were constant. For my part, as a French citizen, or simply as a history lover, I have always been fascinated by the figure of Napoleon. But I have always been very clear about his genius, and also about his flaws and failures, many of them with tremendous consequences, even for himself.
