- A small showcase of my new hive design that allows stingless bee keepers to achieve an equal split of brood every time. This design has worked very well for me and I am happy to be producing these quality hives.
This hive has twin separators with a bee space, an oath compatible floor plan and reduced wall height are some of the features that make this hive excellent for propagation.

Awesome again Nick. Fantastic work as always. 👍 👍. Thanks Tricky Trev
Great work Nick. Nice looking hive!
INPA boxes were perfected by researcher Fernando Oliveira when he worked at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) - "National Institute for Research in the Amazon". So he named the INPA boxes with the institute's acronym. The improvement was developed with the aim of facilitating the work of honey farmers. Thus optimizing the division of swarms and facilitating the collection of honey.
Thanks for the design. I have built boxes in 50mm Cypress using your basic design. I have made the lid hinged with an adjustable toggle latch holding down tight on weather strip material (double width at joins to be light proof). The perspex "viewing" lid on the honey super is inside the weather strip.
do you have a viewing panel on the honey super under lid or do you remove super to view internal window
thanks you.❤

Hi sir , I have a doubt .
Can I use this type of box system for trigona iridipenis ?
What wood is that? From the sound of it, it seems very light
wow Awesome vid!!! Thankyou
Can you ship one bee colony to South India sir? It is always hot n humid here!
also would I be right as they are forced into the top super more now that it will also get a large qty of pollen there not just honey? may be worth reducing the honey super height by half for pollen store then top off with a 25mm series ontop?
jako j I’m impressed!! You get the concept I’m bringing and you are correct! When the brood area is smaller they will fill the super faster. If your super is deep they will place pollen in it. So yep reduce those supers to series supers to make that yummy gold goodness. 😊👍🏻👍🏻
hey mate now that you have 68mm bottom aswell would that effect the half brood idea being that the brood is up off the bottom?
jako j the brood spreads out horizontally with that design. It kinda makes your brood flat if you like. Very satisfying when you open.
Is there a question and answer I can join in I have a few questions thanks @ 0:07 Bali native stingless bees
Looks good, have you done something different with the base?
Yep its now fixed on the base of the hive.
This model is used in Brazil and is patented as inpa model box
I'm pretty sure that INPA is more Square.
Hi Nick, May i know may what is the measurement of this hive? The inner measurement.
Thanks.
Yes sure it’s 120mm by 200mm plan internally and each box height is 68mm. If you want detailed plans I drew some up here. www.australiannativebee.com/2016/10/19/stingless-bee-intermediate-building-hive/
Thanks.
Hello, im from the philippines, i want to know more about stingless beekeeping, i like your ideas on how you commercialized those stingless native bees, can you email me some of the ideas you have or a guide on how to start, what to do, dos and donts, hive making or anything, i want to have my own stingless bee farm someday hope you can help me. Thanks.
hi can you share the dimensions of your hive?
I live Se of Melbourne (Frankston),
Any tips or books on how i can encourage native bees to nest in my indigenous native garden?
For the Victorian bees please.
Social ones no, because it’s to cold there for most. For a variety of solitary ones a simple bee hotel is a great idea! Just be sure to drill your holes at least 150mm deep as this will allow males and females to be born. Use drill sizes 2,4,5,6,8,10mm to see a good amount of different bees nest. Plant salvias and basil to see lots of bees come to you. Hope this helps.
