    Thanks for that. I have heard this method also called Budding in English. I have heard getting brood is more successful if the connection pipe is clear plastic. In that case the queen in the mother hive knows the end of her hive when she sees light. With the black pipe, the queen will probably tend to think the new box is her hive and prevent another queen getting established.

    Bit late but excellent video! I work for an Arboriculture company and am going to try and start building my own ‘Log hives’. Hoping I’ll be able to utilise this method to split them which is my primary concern. If you have any tips/suggestions I’d love to hear them!

    In India we have the same bee's but we keeping in them in a small boxes,so they can develop easily.
