    Health Tip 1. Chew 30+ times before swallowing your food
    When you chew, your body releases digestive enzymes helping to break down your food for better absorption.
    And the truth is, most people greatly under-chew their food.
    Proven benefits we see in scientific research are:
    • Feeling fuller from meals
    • Absorbing more nutrients
    • Better digestion and gut health
    • Improved teeth health
    Health Tip 2. If possible, get a better poop angle
    Most modern-day toilets fail to simulate how our bodies we designed to remove excrement.
    We normally sit at a 90-degree angle on the toilet while we were more designed for a 35-degree angle or lower.
    A poor anorectal angle, heh, kinks up your sphincter sort of like a garden hose as our bodies were designed to poop in the plains and not the burbs.
    So, if you do have poop problems or just want a better poop, def consider getting a stool like the squatty potty to fix this.
    Health Tip 3. The Inflammation Cure
    If you suffer from any inflammation related problems:
    Skin issues
    Periodontal disease
    Autoimmune diseases
    Allergies
    Etc
    You’ll know there are lots of hype and internet lists around specific foods / diets that fight inflammation.
    However, there’s one “trick” that works better no matter what you’re eating…
    Calorie restriction.
    We see in multiple studies that basic calorie control greatly reduces all markers of inflammation in the body.
    It’s not sexy, but the solution for most of you suffering from these diseases is going to be restricting calories and probably not in eating some rare berry or doing some strange diet.
    Health Tip 4. Work out in the morning for better sleep
    A recent study done by Appalachian State University had participants exercise at 7am, 1pm, or 7pm 3 days per week.
    They found that those working out at 7am had consistently better sleep and blood pressure.
    So try working out in the am if you struggle getting in those precious zzzzz’s.
    Health Tip 5. Veggies Make You Sexier
    The University of St. Andrews found that when consuming yellow-red pigments found in veggies, subjects became more attractive to the opposite sex.
    When placed in side by side comparisons, people were rated Universally more attractive the more (cah-roh-ten-oids) they ate and were even more attractive than those with fake tans....

    **EDIT / CORRECTION** - Amy Cuddy's research has come under some controversy over the past few years since her talk. Even her colleague that partnered with her on the project says that the power poses are "undeniably false" as seen here: fortune.com/2016/10/02/power-poses-research-false/. Studies done with 4x the amount of participants Amy used for hers we're unable to see ANY hormonal changes: datacolada.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/5110-Ranehill-Dreber-Johannesson-Leiberg-Sul-Weber-PS-2015-Assessing-the-robustness-of-power-posing-no-effect-on-hormones-and-risk-rolerance-in-a-large-sample-of-men-and-women.pdf. Although, it seems Amy is still defending her position and sees the results as mixed: ideas.ted.com/inside-the-debate-about-power-posing-a-q-a-with-amy-cuddy/. I apologize for this oversight. I didn't see the debate and only looked into Amy's research. While "power posing" may still have some mild benefits, I wouldn't have included it in this presentation if I had seen the conflicting evidence. My bad nerd family!

      can you look more into the sugar and coccain thing? I am convinced I am addicted to sugar but an old coworker showed me peer reviewed links that that claim is false and built on bad science. Clarify please?

      elany o IDK if sugar is MORE addictive then cocaine but what I can tell you for sure is that Sugar affects the body and brain the same as cocaine except at a lesser extent. Back in the early days of History, sugar was treated like a drug. People were killed over sugarcane.

      Hamdi Boujelben I also wonder if there is a limit to fructose and how that looks like as in how many fruits that would be. Lactose is interesting too.

    • @hamdiboujelben159
      @hamdiboujelben159 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +essennagerry I heard that the liver can maximally contain 60 grams of fructose and any thing above that will be converted to fat ( fructose go directly to the liver ). But if +The Health Nerd can confirm this with studies it will be better.
      But I have no idea about lactose

    • @rachelwynter6368
      @rachelwynter6368 7 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Hamdi Boujelben you can literally have as much fruit as you want. Fruit won't make you fat, it is filled with fibre and other important nutrients, so it's pretty hard to over eat seeing the fibre makes you so full :) "nutritionalfacts" has a whole video about it called "how much fruit is too much fruit" (or something like that) if you want to check it out, it's pretty helpful man

    • @senadelezovic667
      @senadelezovic667 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hamdi Boujelben Bodies can store alot of sugar as glycogen and sugar to fat conversion rarely occurs. If it happens to occur, which means you ate insane amount of carbs, storing efficiency will be 70 percent, meaning 3 grams of carb will give you a gram of fat stored.

    I'm from Austria and the firs tipp is very known here, it's some kind of old fashioned diet technique, we say chew your food 50 (!) times before swallowing, you'll give your body time to understand when you're actually full and not overeat, since it takes time for our body to signal that it's full. So when you do that you're not overfilled so that you feel like sleeping but just full enough to be satisfied and still able to move and function. also... how could you tell the world about #8, i always used the first stall for that reason.. now everyone will XD and for #9, meditation kind of saved my life, i was really really really not fine at a time of my life and i felt.. ok let's try the last thing (that i never wanted to try cause it seems so boring and i didn't believe in it despite all the papers i read about it)... it worked within a really short time and changed so much... from being suicidal i actually started loving my life within a month

    Awesome tips! I was aware of some, but there were plenty I needed to hear about. I've heard about the rats-cocaine-sugar research, but every time I read or see something about it. I wonder if they accounted for the better taste of sugar. They might not be addicted but just really prefer the taste of sugar over cocaine. It seems like an obvious thing, so they probably did account for it, but I can never find out if they really did or if I just would like to believe they did.

      Rose Stirling from what I've read and heard yes it is because it gets your metabolism up and going for the day which will help you burn more fat and calories throughout the day and skipping breakfast will cause your metabolism to slow down but that's what I've read from the internet and I'm far from being an expert I'm only a 17 year old kid

      Joshh Fujitsu the answer will always be complex carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, some types of pasta etc.; not only for getting lean and muscular but also for improving your insulin sensitivity. The answer is never cutting out any macro, especially carbs since they play an important role in muscle building; just dont go overboard on anything and you'll be fine my friend

    • @JF-xi2ko
      @JF-xi2ko 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thx, man. I guess you're right. I only eat simple carbs after my workouts and it is not every time. The previous year I ate white rice almost like every meal and I gained a lot of fat along with muscle mass. Although the reason could also be eating too many calories. Now I'm tracking how many calories I'm eating and I feel great.

    • @ZanesFacebook
      @ZanesFacebook 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joshh Fujitsu it's not necessary to eat any carbs whatsoever. Your body can happily manufacture all the glucose it needs by breaking apart protein (from your diet, not your muscles. Don't even start with that Bullshit) and creating glucose. This process is energy intensive, so you'll lose quite a bit of body fat from it, which in turn will help enhance your muscle definition

    I wake up at 5, meditate, and then workout, and I've found that my sleep has greatly improved since then, and also I'm wayyyy more consistent with going to bed earlier because I know that I'll feel like crap the next day if I don't.

    what are the veggies you need to look more attractive

    • @LinkEX
      @LinkEX 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably those with carotinoids, like carrots or sweet potato.
      That study boils down to the fact that those simply change your skin color to a more healthy, less sickly pale looking skin tone.

    • @LinkEX
      @LinkEX 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just make sure to eat clean. Add exercise and a good attitude to that mix, and you won't have to worry about attractiveness to much either way, since the body of an average guy that's physically and psychologically healthy will automatically reflect that, and look good to others as well.

SO DON'T BOTHER POSING. And now I am unsubscribing after I just hit the subscribe button because I see this channel doesn't bother to do much research. Seems like you find the first thing you see and report on that. All of this came crashing down over a year ago I think. Shame!

    Lmao I wish I could breathe with my nose but for some reason ITS ALWAYS BLOCKED. It’s literally ALWAYS blocked. I can’t remember the last time I breathed properly with my nose. And I know what you’re thinking, “then how do you sleep?” I sleep with my mouth open so I wake up with drool all over my pillow and dried spit all over my face.

  • @essennagerry

    Wait - I thought the capacity of our lungs was set and could only be decreased by damaging them, but not increased in any way. Are you saying breathing through the nose INCREASES the lung size? And thus the capacity?

    Agreed about experiences over possessions. I'm into replica props and one of the most satisfying experiences I have is spending a couple weeks making them. And hey, in the end I have both an experience and a thing.

    It used to be 15 times to chew your food. I have lived overseas for many years and one country I lived in was Morocco where they have American style toilets but they also have what I call squats. It clean porcelain Bowl to put your feet on and squat down to poop. I came home and started to lean forward toward my knees and pooping was so much easier considering I can have problems in that area. The area of pooping not the area of my butt. I'll take a shovel now please. LOL I am vegan so I must be hella sexy! I have been meditating since I was 12 years old. I approve this video. Elizabeth MD PhD nutrition science

    As a sugar addict, i can say that sometimes it feels better to taste a sweet piece of heaven than being healthy. i've been working in my addiction for almost a year, i mean learning to control it or at least accept i have a problem with sugar, is really really REALLY hard, i don't even know if i'll get over it since you can find sugar on everything this days, but meh. I'm writing this for people to know that is something we have to learn to live with and be concious about what we put in our mouths, sugar is baaaad, but delicious. But you can be healthy and eat sweets at the same time... i think, just don't overeat.
    Also i confirm that eating a lot of fats and zero simple or (some) complex carbohydrates such as bread, juice, fruit, cereal, potatos, corn, can prevent sugar cravings. Search it, is a fact. uh..bye

    About the inflammation reduction one, I'm very much against calorie restriction but being a vegan, yes a vegan I know, tells me why you see less inflammation on a calorie restricted diet. Animal products cause incredible amounts of inflammation, and since most people eat animal products you see inflammation go down when they just eat less of it. But I bet science backs up vegans having the least amount of inflammation regardless of the amount of calories we're eating so, if you want to check that please do.

    Calorie restriction has questionable evidence in reducing inflammation. However dont advise people that the solution for autoimmune disease is calorie restriction. That's why people end up not seeking proper treatment.
    Was that entire list just so you can advertise meditation apps?
    Your "science" is all questionable and clearly cherry picked.

    Tip one is partially incorrect: while many people underchew their food, subsequent studies have shown that chewing a piece of food more than 7 times (on average) provides no additional benefit.

    Calorie Restriction is a good thing anyways. It makes you slim, fights inflammation and is the key to longevity.

    You might want to look into the Amy Cuddy power pose a bit more! Her research partner, Dana Carney has come out and said that their study had many questionable research practises and the evidence against the existence of power poses is undeniable. This study has never been able to be replicated by other researchers, and data from the original has many issues. It is a classic example of scientific overreach.

    Fit for life diet. 80's . Claimed that eating a combination of carbs and protein would ruin digestion whereas the protein needs acids and the carbs fermentation. Both oh them together would trigger a neutral response. Also the protocol dictated that nothing except fruit should be eaten before noon. This was bared on our three basic cicles of absortion, integration and elimination. Haven't heard from the diet . I believe it was wise. Can you give it a glance?
