      Actually, what we need is to get out from being under China's thumb... Did you know that we relied on them for 95% of all of our antibiotics and nearly all of our generics before they threatened to withold shipping meds to us because we aren't going to allow them to falsely put the blame for COVID-19 on us? Most Americans didn't know. How do you feel knowing that you almost assuredly have to ingest a pill that was "Made in China," the next time you get a headache? 🤔

      Right now we are in the middle of a healthcare crisis as well. If we don't have antibiotics. we don't have mask. we don't have proper protection for American workers. We also don't have enough ventilators. So if we do get a spike where a lot of people have the virus. We're up shitt's creek Without a Paddle or a boat.

      @Kent Horvath that's the reason the tests or not available. Because we are in a healthcare crisis. We don't have mask. And we don't have ventilators. Don't have gloves. And we don't have enough test to test people. If more money would have been put towards Healthcare and helping other people. We would not be in this situation.

      Who gives a f---? The point is we developed our own! If we've learned anything about this at all, the biggest takeaway is that President Trump was right all along, whether we want to admit it or not. We need to get out from under the thumb of other countries and get back to counting on "Made in the USA"... ESPECIALLY when we are uber dependent on a communist country who hates us so much that they'd threaten to withold shipping much needed medications to us, all because they're personally offended that the world knows where this originated and don't buy into their propaganda that it came to Wuhan through the US Army last October. The majority of Americans did not know that we relied on China for such things and, now that we do, we feel like our elected leaders on both sides of the aisle sold us out and made us vulnerable. I mean, for Pete's sake, we can't even have a headache without having to digest a remedy that was manufactured in China! What's to stop them from infecting all of our needed medications, from blood pressure meds to ibuprofen, with whatever biologic pathogen they develop in a lab? So, pardon me if I don't seem to care about the cost. There was nothing wrong with "Made in the USA." We have paid so much more by counting on "Made in China," not just because of COVID-19, but because of our vulnerability plus the fact that these thieves steal $500B of our intellectual property annually, as if the control these greedy f---s have isn't enough! I'm sure we're not the only country they do this to. Others should be equally outraged. Just like everything else, the cost will come down in time and the cost for all who take it now is $0, so what does any of this matter? We can't even count on the World Health Organization. China pretty much owns them, too!

    "The true death rate could turn out to be similar to that of a severe seasonal flu, below 1 percent..."
    “The latest data from China stem from an analysis of nearly 45,000 confirmed cases, and on the whole suggest that the people most likely to develop severe forms of COVID-19 are those with pre‐ existing illnesses and the elderly.While less than 1 percent of people who were otherwise healthy died from the disease, the fatality rate for people with cardiovascular disease was 10.5 percent. That figure was 7.3 percent for diabetes patients and around 6 percent for those with chronic respiratory disease, hypertension, or cancer. While overall, 2.3 percent of known cases [in China] proved fatal-which many experts say is likely an overestimate of the mortality rate, given that many mild cases might go undiagnosed-patients 80 years or older were most at risk, with 14.8 percent of them dying.”
    The Scientist article point about the death rate being “less than 1 percent” among the healthy and also the point about the 2.3% Chinese estimate being a “an overestimate” because “many mild cases might go undiagnosed” underscore similar points I made in a March 2 blog. My concern is that misinformation about COVID-19 has fueled excessive fear of the virus by greatly exaggerating the actual death rate per hundred people infected (the infection fatality rate).
    I suggested that if we took unreported mild cases into account, the actual death rate among infected people outside China may be as low as 0.5%. Skeptics greeted death rates of 0.5-1.0% as Panglossian heresy. Yet the rigorous February 10 study I cited, from Imperial College London, concluded the global infection fatality ratio was about 1.0. My estimate is lower than 1.0 because I exclude China where (I argue) high fatality rates in Wuhan were exaggerated by overcounting institutionalized elderly with serious infection.
    On February 29, Denise Grady, The New York Times’ veteran health and medicine reporter, independently came to conclusions not unlike those Katarina Zimmer and I did within a few days of each other - namely than fewer than 1% of people infected with COVID-19 are likely to die from it, and that the odds of death are lower that that for healthy non‐ elderly people. Ms. Grady explained these facts in The New York Times as follows [with emphasis added]:
    “Early estimates of the coronavirus death rate from China, the epicenter of the outbreak, have been around 2 percent. But a new report on 1,099 cases from many parts of China, published on Friday in The New England Journal of Medicine, finds a lower rate: 1.4 percent. The coronavirus death rate may be even lower, if - as most experts suspect - there are many mild or symptom‐ free cases that have not been detected. The true death rate could turn out to be similar to that of a severe seasonal flu, below 1 percent, according to an editorial published in the journal by Dr. Anthony S. Fauci and Dr. H. Clifford Lane, of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Robert R. Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
    Despite two health science writers and one economist trying to warn people that widely hyped mortality rates greatly exaggerate the risk (not to mention Drs. Fauci, Lane and Redfield) exaggerated estimates continue to grab the headlines.”
    www.cato.org/blog/covid-19-deaths-incredible-who-estimates
    "South Korea has tested 140,000 people for the coronavirus. That could explain why its death rate is just 0.6% - far lower than in China or the US."
    www.businessinsider.com/south-korea-coronavirus-testing-death-rate-2020-3
    "South Korea has tested more than 140,000 people for the new coronavirus and confirmed more than 6,000 cases. Its fatality rateis around 0.6%.
    This suggests that, as many health experts have predicted, the virus' fatality rate seems to decrease as more cases are reported.
    That's because more widespread testing leads more mild cases to be included in the count.
    The US, by contrast, has tested around 1,500 people. The country has 221 confirmed cases and 12 deaths, suggesting a death rate of 5%.
    The US' testing capacity has been limited."

    We don't have enough tests. I work in a hospital and all the cases take more than 5 days. We don't have proper equipment to care for the patients. We are not even properly isolating the patients that are infected from the patients that are not. There is so much cross contamination. The hospital doesn't even have enough test to test their own employees when we present with symptoms.

    • @luanaalger5950
      @luanaalger5950 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sandy Allen Really? The World Health Organization is basically owned by China! The point is that we developed our own test! So, pardon me if I don't seem to care about refusing to depend on a foreign-made test in favor of one created by the U.S. There was nothing wrong with "Made in the USA" from the start. We have paid so much more by counting on "Made in China," not just because of COVID-19, but because of our vulnerability plus the fact that these thieves steal $500B of our intellectual property annually, as if the control these greedy f---s have isn't enough! I'm sure we're not the only country they do this to. Others should be equally outraged.

    • @luanaalger5950
      @luanaalger5950 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @luanaalger5950

      @@wt3447 The CDC, under ANY Administration, was NEVER prepared for something like this. Dr. Fauci already established that fact. Whether we want to admit it or not, Trump was right all along. We have been sold out by our elected leaders on BOTH sides of the aisle and are too dependent on other countries. There's nothing really wrong with leaning on our allies, but communist China making 95% of our anti-biotics and nearly all of our generics is unacceptable! Did you know this prior to this COVID-19 pandemic?... Most of us didn't. We have to break this reliance, so pardon me if I understand why we had to develop our own test and not rely on the World Health Organization, which is basically owned by China, who annually steals roughly $500B of our intellectual property as it is already. In the long run, we're better off to count on ourselves, especially for things like this.
