- SCP 049 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Plague Doctor.
SCP-049 is a humanoid entity, roughly 1.9 meters in height, which bears the appearance of a medieval plague doctor.
SCP049 will become hostile with individuals it sees as being affected by the Pestilence, often having to be restrained should it encounter such. If left unchecked, SCP-049 will generally attempt to kill any such individual.

He wants to help us in his own twisted way. When you look at his ''cured'' patients, you can't really argue he is a force of good.

He is a man with good intentions that cause more harm than good unfortunately.

What a lot of people sometimes miss is that the plague doctor is actually a decent guy, just mis-treated, mis-informed, and mis-understood
I agree with everything you said. Accept him being misinformed. The foundation could be misinformed. Because nobody knows what the pestilence is. It could be the reason everyone eventually dies. Keeping them from the same immortality 049 has. He is definitely mistreated and misunderstood.
Exactly, when the scarlet king invaded the plague doctor fought alongside the spectre and the cactus man to defend site 19.
I'd honestly like to see a story where 049 is fully backed by the Foundation with his own department and staff.
Yes he's dangerous and has made mistakes, but with some oversight and support he could do some great things. I'd even say he has it in him to be a director of his own site.
Since the doctor fought against the Scarlet Kings army. I've been rooting for him ever since.
I'm happy to see he is genuinely a good and caring doctor. Although just a bit delusional sometimes.

The amount of conviction that goes into 049’s voice is astounding as it brings the character to life! Scp 049 has become the “hero” of most of the stories he is in now, albeit ironically for this episode.
This has already gone to another level, but the evil twin of Dr. Plague is another strange thing here
Its not too different from our doctor actually when you think of it.
This version had the same mentality and goals. His SCP likely didnt limit him but encouraged him to experiment more to find a cure.
Which he somehow came to a conclusion that he could not cure the pestilence, but as the doctor he had to cure or he'd be stuck with this obsession forever.
That led to him exterminating all life in the aims of achieving freedom.
Whats interesting is that he apperantly managed to kill *everything*.
This hints at him being able to kill the reptillian, shyguy and other living SCP's as well.
He is not the Evil alternative, He is an encouraged yet even more desperate version of ours. Which makes SCP-049 even more dangerous.

I can't help but feel more and more admiration for him when I see him do these kind of selfless things. His touch may be lethal but he proves he wouldn't sacrifice his oath or the world to save us from the pestilence. Better than most RL docs!
The Plague Doctor really did go like a true hearted Frenchman afterall, in self sacrifice, with bravery, courage, and valor!
Idea for a future video, A base director tells the doctor he wants to help cure the pestilence. The first thing he does is has the doctor grade all staff members for the pestilence and finds a case that the doctor feels has gotten to one of the late stages. Then use SPC-500 on that person while the doctor watches. The doctor amazed at the power of the pill asks that we mass product the pill and give it to everyone at once but we tell them that we can't, it is an scp that we can't copy. Then give the doctor a sample of 500 to see if he can duplicate the pill. Hijinks to follow.

Would love any story to do with scp-049. This would be the best by far.
Try 500 on the Doctor. In most stories he has obssessive compulsive disorder. He would be much more useful without it.
If there can be an evil Plague Doctor, then I have a suggestion too. What if there was a good counterpart of SCP-682 in another universe or dimension that instead of wanting to kill and destroy everyone and everything, it wants the opposite which is to help and protect them?

That’s kinda our Plague Doctor already?
He isn’t intentionally trying to kill his patients, he genuinely wants to help/cure them. But for whatever reason his anomolise properties both kill a living being upon contact and resurrects them as “zombies”.
Our version of the plague doctor isn’t evil or malicious but because we still don’t know what this pestilence is we find his methods very questionable and confusing.
Another thing that Dr Bright is *NOW* allowed to do around the facility: Dr Bright can go into SCP 049's chamber and steal whatever he wants from there. However, guards must be with him at all times to monitor if he's planning on becoming the doctor himself...
Poor Plague Doctor, he thought perhaps he would find his answers, only to find himself faced with his evil side and was forced to take them both out to save our world. At least he saved us from the evil Plague Doctor
You can say the plague doctor did find something on his journey to the dead world his humanity.
Evil 049 probably touched life itself and killed everything. Like he just raised his hands and everything ceased to exist

Moral of the story: Everything must be done in moderation. A lesson that humanity has repeatedly learn throughout history. If we do not care for our planet, how different are we from SCP-049's evil twin? We must develop a way to sustain the resources we consume. For example, paper making companies plant the most trees worldwide. If that other world's plague doctor moderated his experiments, he wouldn't killed off all life aside from himself.

What's funny is that this actually happened to a couple of humans who went into that Dimension when they discover what happened that evaded the Warhead and blowing up themselves and just just occurred with 049

Bro I love the plague doctor. He just seems so calm.
Problem. The SCP Foundation would not have a self destruct button like that lever. The nuclear warhead has many fail safes in case that lever is flipped.
Maybe that dimension didn't have the failsafes. Maybe the negligence and sloppiness of that dimension's SCP is what allowed for the evil plague doctor to end all life 😅
And I thought 049 killing everyone with touch was bad but there is something worse there.

you know, honestly, i personally think that, the "pestilence" that 049 keeps revering to, might be just the feeling of hate, or something that a person doesn't like, but it pretty bad, like, 682, has such a bad "pestilence" problem, that 049 fell down. but then, as mentioned, when a guard lost his fear of death, (again, something someone doesn't like) 049 said that he was cured of the "pestilence"
I think they could give scp 500 to scp 049 and ask him if he can create more, if not take 049 to scp 914 so he can create more scp 500

I think "invisible women" & "supernatural vending machines" have always haunted the psyche of us working class...
Umm this is insane to think about, because this just goes to show that given enough time, the Plague doctor could permanently kill that lizard for good, and with a method that even the lizard cannot adapt to.
Then the lizard says sike and makes the writer make him win or some other bs thing. Gotta be honest, scl 682 tied with scp 3812, the only thing I see beating him is full power 999 now.
@@randomyoutuber2633 he permanently killed 682 in the alternate reality though. Go watch the 2935 video lol. The evil doctor found a way to kill all life, instantly and absolutely at the same time. And he found a way to completely negate 682's adaptation.
@Yujiro Hamna that wasn't 049 though, that was the cave of death, and besides it was an alternate reality 682, which means it might not be as powerful as this one. The cave of death was just death itself that passes on to you, which gives me the question of how 682 can't die and is immortal, but dies to the one thing it beats all the time, death?

@@randomyoutuber2633 that was not the cave of death lol. The cave was only a means to cross into other parallel universes. Crossing through the cave wasn't the dangerous part. The dangerous part was the evil 049 twin who explained how he killed everyone and everything in this universe. But evil 049 was never contained in this parallel universe so his experiments went unchecked vs the good 049 who was always kept under lock and key.
Also no that universe was the exact same universe as the good 049's universe. When SCP special forces went into parallel 682's containment unit, it was literally dead inside the same acid tank they use to slow the main 682 down. There was nothing to suggest it was any different because they obviously had to contain it the same way.
Something about that alternate world where everything is dead to the point that it doesn’t decay is absolutely fascinating to me. And SCP-049 is always a delight in stories. I’m so glad to see my favorite character taking an interest in my favorite anomaly as well

The Plague Doctor is my favourite SCP. He's incredibly naive and adorable, willing to give away his entire life story, meanwhile his goal just slips past him.
The biggest thing that these is I can watch this or rather listen to this and understand and see the story unfold. The story writing is so well done. The voice actors are marvelous. Incredible well done
