We've had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but today is, without question, the saddest day in the history of the Theorist community. We've lost a friend and team member, Ronnie "Oni" Edwards. For those who don't know, Ronnie has worked on this channel longer than anyone, hosting his own show as well as editing a HUGE number of the videos you've watched. In six years of working together, he contributed so much to what The Game Theorists is today. His loss is one that comes after years of him bravely working to move beyond the trauma of his past, fighting an internal battle every day, a battle that eventually became too much for him. This video is to honor his memory and remind everyone out there who also struggles with anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts to reach out and keep talking because YOU ARE NOT ALONE...even when it feels like you are.

i can relate to that line so much and i throught of my family members who died of ilness . My dad only had 15% of survival after his second surgery . Doctors said he wouldn't survive if he didn't have the will to live . He died in 2017

Yeah.. This is hard to watch.. This is the third time I've watched it and I'm still sobbing. Because it's hard.. I've had depressing thoughts but Mat and other friends and TH-camrs brought me through that. And Ronnie.. didn't manage to hold on to the happy thoughts. I hope he made it to heaven or wherever he wanted to go.
Make sure you tell your friend even if it has to be in quarantine that you are there for him, and how much you appreciate them. Because maybe they don't know they matter.

When I heard the tremble in poor matpats voice, my heart shattered as I realized what had happened and tears were rolling down my face. My heart goes out to Ronnie, no matter how long it’s been. He will always be remembered an honored. My heart goes out to MatPat and the team too. You guys must have went through a lot on that tragic day, I can’t even imagine how awful it would have been. He was an incredible person and we will forever keep him in our hearts.

When the camera zoomed in and Mat stared straight in the camera and said, “you are no alone” as he cried was the point where the tears started rushing faster. I often wonder, have had COUNTLESS thoughts of who would miss me, cry over me, because I don’t feel valued outside my close knit high school community (the teachers and I, not really the students) and my family.
As of late, a friend I had been talking to stopped responding to my messages. It’s been 11 days since he said goodnight to me.
Another friend I have JUST reconnected with has fallen off the face of the earth and has not answered my calls or texts on both Snapchat (which I got for him, not because I actually wanted it. I hate social media.) and iMessage.
It’s hard to believe I’m not alone. I just try to imagine what would happen if I went too soon, and go on with my life.

It’s difficult learning of news like this. Losing a friend, loved one, someone you care not only about, but care for. I’ve been through this twice. My little brother and my dad. It’s like when you find out, it literally feels like part of you is just ripped away without warning, one second you’re fine and the next, theirs this CRATER in your soul that actually feels like a part of you is physically gone. In the moments after learning of the news, one is left gasping for a respite from the indescribable pain. I was numb. There was this silence most likely in my own head. My body tingled with such a deep sorrow… I kept saying “he was just here, I just saw him”. I got emotional listening to you sharing your experience. How it feels for you. How much it hurts. The pain got less for me. But to this day, I get angry when I remember my brother was taken from me at only 8. It makes me angry. Not at anyone. At the loss I guess. I just get angry. My dad hurt just as much but it wasn’t as much of a surprise. I’m sorry for your tremendous loss. I’m a sub to your channels and love your creativity and story telling. You have a great heart and a bright soul. Thank you for sharing your experience, I can relate and I know many others can also relate.

Matpats voice is so comical when he’s happy, but when he’s serious like this it is genuinely moving. I know you’ll never see this but you have definitely made an impact, this video will have saved lives and that at least is something. Ronnie sounds like someone I would have liked and I’m broken by how people can just... die, I’m not very good at articulating my feelings through text but just know that me and all of the people who saw this feel this with you.

i lost a friend to suicide less than a month ago. i met them through the internet, and we planned on meeting up in the near future. i am slowly realizing that isnt possible anymore, i am slowly realizing i wont be able to cook them the food i promised or buy them that figurine they loved so much for their upcoming birthday. i hope all the pain and worry they feel are no more, i hope they're finally at peace.

Ronnie was always so pessimistic and arguing with everyone, I really can't believe he did this. I feel horrible that no one had a chance to help him.

I believe we should live our lives without regret,taking your time with every person and always be companionate. If everyone could do that I think it could make the pain at least a little more bearable.
