I wasn't expecting suicide awareness, but I am glad this topic is being discussed in a serious manner where people are shown as humans. Human lives matter more than ideologies.
Lives are fleeting like the wind, yet brittle as a piece smouldering dried clay. One little difference can be the final step, towards standing up after we falter... Or falling into the empty chasm beneath. I'm glad that there's people around who genuinely cares, for I too knew how powerful this pull that Mark felt... In short, I'm no longer suicidal. Though having been so for ten years, was rather disheartening...so thank you, really, thank you! :)

True story: This happened with me too. My friend, Will call him Sam, Was a new student in our 7th grade class. He was kinda overweight, and acted a bit weird all the time. No body liked him, But I thought he was cool. So one day I sat down with him introduced myself, and we became good friends. A few months later He started crying during a session about, Loneliness. I asked at the end of the class why he cried, and he said his mom, had died this year in the army. He then told me he was gonna take his own life, but then I became friends with him and thats what made him think otherwise. Thanks for reading.

As a fan, this is probably the most important thing I've ever heard MatPat say. It's impossible to know who is going to see what we do on any given day, or who is going to happen upon our silly little video, but we just might change someone's life. And whatever we do, it might change it for the better or for the worse. Wield your influence with intention and care.

seriously people, mental distress and disorders are not hard to see, not because of the appearance of a person, but due to how they act, mark's attitude there is a classic for depressed and/or people with heavy socialization issues, you can make a difference, and all it takes to do that is not being a dick, but rather be a kind person.

I mean this is a bit more personal than any other Ted talk I’ve seen. It’s a good talk but I’m not sure if it’s a good fit for a Ted talk.
One of the last lines hit so hard--something to get to the end of the week. I've been Mark. And, like he said, sometimes it was just knowing that my favorite channel would have another video on the weekend that kept me going for those few days. Creators have an incredible power to spread positivity and help people like me and Mark without even knowing us. I appreciate him giving such concrete words to the usually nebulous concept of needing positivity. Thanks for saying this, Matt.

It's... depressing. It makes you feel like humanity is just... getting worse and worse. But then there's you. The fact an amazing person like you can be so successful and loved by people on the internet, that you are doing a good thing for this community. You're kind, you're funny, you're creative, and your content makes people think. Makes them use their brain. Makes them actually grow as intelligent human beings, even with the silliest things. I'm rewatching this after watching the latest video on the channel (Losing the Battle), and it breaks my heart to watch this after hearing about the loss of Ronnie. It's practically the exact same message, but here's the difference: this video is based on the war won, but the other is based on the battle, and the war, lost. We can never know what is going on inside someone's heart. What we do know is this: today could be the last day. The last day to show someone some kindness, to show that you care. To share the good news of Jesus Christ with them (yes, I'm a Christian). I'm praying for you guys, Matt, Steph, the baby, the other Theorists, the people of this community. I am so sorry for the loss. In closing, "Do it for Mark", but also, do it for the one who could be Ronnie.

Let's all take a moment to appreciate Matpat. He spends so long pouring passion and dedication into his theories, only to be met with mockery and anger for every little detail that's even slightly off. We're so hard on him, but why? Mat is a man that wants to help people. Every theory, no matter what it's about, has an impact on someone. He talks about what's important. He warns about companies that scam TH-camrs out of their money, he talks about why gamers on TH-cam get bad reps, and he talks about how much of an impact we all truly have. Matpat does more than most people will ever know. So let's put aside some petty anger about Undertale or Mario or anything, and give this man some love.
Let me tell you all a story of my own.
8th grade. I'll be honest, life was and still is kinda sh*tty. Toxic friendships, stress about school and grades, never being happy about my body, verbal and physical abuse from my sister. It was just too much. I began a spiral into depression, and did stuff like cutting myself. It was hard. I never told anyone, because of that little voice that told me that no one would care. Then one day by chance, i stumbled upon Game Theory and Film Theory.
And somehow, i felt better than i had in a long time.
MatPat isn't afraid to talk about what matters. He has this amazing personality, and somehow manages to lift my mood instantly just by watching his videos.
Now in 9th grade, it's been around 7 months since i last harmed myself. So tell me, does Mat still deserve all the ridicule he gets?

Oh my god, I wish I could actually like this 10,000 times... To be honest. I was a middle school kid who got bullied frequently. I just had so many things I wanted to show people... But nobody ever wanted to see it. I was actually suicidal for a portion of my middle school. If it weren’t for this TH-cam community and some of the people I’ve met, I don’t know if I would be here today. Please understand that you are never alone... Sometimes you only learn a long time later of how you saved someone, or helped them so much. And sometimes you don't learn it at all. It reminds me of how a complete stranger kept smiling at me in the train leaving home, when I was obviously feeling horrible. I could never really thank him, but I still think about it and feel a bit better. Smiles and kindness and compassion. Even when you're anonymous behind a computer screen.
I hope no one ever has to go through with this because there’s always a way out
And there is always someone that loves or cares for you out there.

This speech had me crying. I was in Mark's situation in my freshman year, and my best friend in yours, Matt. Just this incredible kindness that is so rare nowadays it's obscene. There is not enough people like her, and like you, who fight to keep kindness in this world. We are so broken, and so divided, and we need people that will show kindness like you have.

I don't agree with MatPat on all his theories - but he's always seemed like someone that could just be your friend out of the blue for no better reason than you are a precious person that has somehow wandered into his way. He's a good guy, and I'm glad that I've been able to see him grow here on TH-cam.

the thing i love the most about Matpat and why i watch his videos is because he is committed and passionate about the things he does to a point where he exceeds those words.
and the best part about it that he tries to have the time to love all of us, to entertain all of us and pours his life and soul into us through the screens and speakers we use to view his content. sometimes i watch theorist videos i dont care about or am interested in just so he gets the view minutes and my youtube red subscription drops the pennies in the hat that he deserves from all of us.

So inspiring. This was literally me most of this school year. TH-cam was the only reason I smiled at the end of the day. I wasn't bullied or anything, but my mom had died a few years before, and the feeling finally caught up to me. I was depressed, and people like The game theory brought a smile to my face with corny jokes. Thank you, for helping me smile when I didn't think I could.
