    Ecs tuning has a great power bleeder kit with two bottles that includes the caps, hoses and rubber cap that fits over bleed screw...no mess no fuss... I used about 5 bottles of DOT4 to completely flush the system. Mine looked like black coffee.

      Used about 1.5 liters to bleed mine. You saw in the video how bad mine was. It should be changed every 50K according the maintenance schedule. The brake system holds 0.88 liters +_ 4%. Thank you for commenting and thank you for your channel name suggestion.

      James DIY Garage I am looking to buy 2017 or 18 Ghilbi S.
      What are your thoughts on that car? I found a 2017 for $32,000 with 14,500 miles on it. What should I check for is far as maintenance records?

    Good evening Brother James, I know this video is over 2 years old. However I just performed this service on my 2018 last week after watching your video about 8 times. After ordering the Fluid (2 Cans) & the Bleeder, I jacked up the car and started the process. For some reason the fluid was not flowing out of the caliper and into my recovery jar with 15 LBS of pressure. After 3-5 minutes at the passenger rear tire, I walked to the front of the car and found DOT 4 Break fluid coming from under the drivers front tire. I took everything apart, cleaned the mess and started again. Wouldn't you know it, Another puddle soon appeared under the drivers side front tire. What in the heck was I doing wrong??? Upon closer investigation, the fluid was leaking from the Bleeder attachment to the reservoir. Although the top that came with the bleeder, fit the reservoir perfectly, I failed to insert the rubber gasket that was included and not using it caused me to lose nearly two-3rds of the first can of Brake fluid. What a mess to clean up! Anyway, I hope someone watching your video can learn from my mistake. Be well and Thanks for showing us the way. My local dealer wanted $300+ for this service.

    Could this cause ABS and ((P)) light to turn on?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It did not on mine. I guess that could happen if you accidentally introduced air into the system while doing this by not making sure there was always enough fluid in the reservoir and no air was sucked into it. That's why I used the Motive Hand Pump Pressure Tank.

    I have a question do you have to bleed the system when you do a brake and rotor change ?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can if uou want to, but you don't have to. How many miles on your car and has your brake fluid been changed yet?

  • @alliancehomes
    @alliancehomes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey james
    When changing front brake pads, for the center bracket/retainer that goes under the center large bolt on the calipers, does the cross member on that retainer go above or below the large center bolt. On your car it looks like it is above.
    Do you have a video on brake pad install.
    I'm a subscriber with a QP with same brakes

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry took so long for me to reply. The steel bracket goes over the large center bolt, but under the end pins. I have not done a Brake change yet. I've had the car for over 2 years and put over 20K miles on it. They are getting close to needing to be replaced. I will be doing them soon and will have a video out.

    • @alliancehomes
      @alliancehomes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JamesDIYGarage thanks. I recently did mine and put it under. Will change it. I noticed an arrow on the bracket. If arrow points up , the cross member will be above the bolt. Wasn't sure if arrow meant point up or point in direction of rotor rotation, pointing down. Will watch your brake vid when you post it. I've watch all so far. Thanks again for the info, just bought my 2014 QP Q4 and started doing all the services you've done. Your vids are very helpful and saved me a lot of time and money.

      Same as on any other car, you take it to a tire shop. Preferably one the has the new tire machines that can do it with out touching the rims.

    What size wrench is needed to bleed the breaks?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember what size I used, but depending on if you have the S.SQ4 or the base model the fittings will be different.

    Hey James I need your help. I have a 2015 Maserati Ghibli SQ4.. Today while I was driving , I got a warning light stating “Service Anti Lock System”. What do you think it can be? The brake pads and rotors were changed 5k miles ago. Any clue?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here’s what causes this. Check these items.
      A blown fuse for the system
      A wheel-speed sensor that is damaged or covered by road grime
      A broken wire between the sensors and the ABS controller
      An ABS controller that has stopped working

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess I should mention that the Anti Lock System is your ABS. (Antilock Brake System) You can drive without ABS, but if you have to stop fast, your brakes will lockup and you will skid. You could loose control of the car, because it is not steerable when the brakes are locked up. But I would get it repaired as soon as possible.

      James DIY Garage Thank you and I will definitely look at every item you mentioned and see if I see something . Lastly I have the “Service AWD” Is the car saying it wants it’s all wheel drive serviced as in maintenance or do you think it’s telling me that’s theirs a malfunction?

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thewiseguy7100 The Service All-Wheel Drive message can appear when your vehicle is having an issue with the all-wheel drive (AWD) system. When you see this alert, stop your vehicle as soon as possible, turn it off, and turn it back on again. If the alert is no longer displayed, your AWD system is functioning properly. If not it needs service asap. But with all these lights coming on, I would 1st check your battery and have your charging system checked if your battery is relatively new and checks out good. Low voltage will force the car to start shutting systems down to conserve power. Your whole issue could be just a bad battery.
