    In this video I will show you have to perform a spark plug change on a Maserati Ghibli SQ4. This is one of the routine maintenance items for the 60-70k mile mark.
    I originally took my car to a indie shop to get the routine maintenance done, but after get the price quote of almost $2000 (includes belts, spark plugs, filters and oil change) I decided to do it myself. Let me tell you...BEST DECISION! Huge savings and I know the work is done correctly.
    So, if you have a Maserati definitely watch this video and Subscribe to see my other DIY projects.

    Good video. I torqued mine to 15 fp because a buddy of mine who is a certified Maserati Tech says it's what he does. The Maserati Ghibli service shop manual indicates 18 nm. (European manual) which equals 13.28 fp.

      Thanks James!! I appreciate it a lot. Being at 14fp should be cool then...it’s right in the middle! 😬👍🏽

    I’m assuming the coils if I wanted to replace them would be just to unplug the connector then attach the new one and that’s it then follow this video to reinsert them right?

    Just found this video and I'm definitely subscribing. I'm thinking about purchasing a 2016 model with 61k miles. The price tag is 15k. Would you consider that a good deal? What would be some things to look for with that kind of mileage? Thanks for these videos btw, I'm leaning towards buying but I would still like your opinion and insight.

      Thanks for the sub! 🙏 Yeah, that is a good deal as far as price, year, and mileage. The Maserati has been a great car. Routine maintenance is a must (which is expected). No major issues or repairs. I will say parts are not widely available like other automotive brands. So if you are a DIYer then you will only find a few good vendors. www.scuderiacarparts.com/ is my go-to. And delivery is fast! Also, just be mindful the cost for parts is Maserati prices (LOL) so it won't be cheap. Good luck!

    Hey how’s it goin brotha just a quick question Should I swap out both my spark plugs and ignition coils I’m bouta to do this job on mine but stuck on either swapping out just the spark plugs or both the plugs and the coils I had a cylinder misfire on cylinder 3-4 at separate times what you recommend

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either parts could cause misfires. You could switch the "bad" coil from the bank causing misfire with one of the other "good" coils. If misfire changes location (i.e. to the new location of the "bad" coil), then I would say it is the coil. Then you can do both spark plugs and coils. If it doesn't change, then I would just change spark plugs. Good luck

    Great video. Are the spark plugs pre-gapped? If not, what would be the best gap setting for a 2014 Ghibli s q4?

  • @thewiseguy7100
    @thewiseguy7100 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man , did your spark plugs come gapped already? I heard they do come already but did you even bother checking to see if their all gapped exactly the same?

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I did hear the same. I didn’t bother checking. I did a visual inspection just out of curiosity and to make sure there were not any noticeable differences (I.e. broken)

    What spark plugs did you use ? The ones from the dealership ? Thanks for the video

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey, I used OEM spark plugs from Scuderia Car Parts. There supply OEM Maserati parts. I used them for most of my parts for my Ghibli. Spark Plug Part# 310235. www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/272477/maserati/310235/spark-plug.html#spec

    Curious to hear the plug interval on a 16 Ghibli? A friend of mine has one with almost 30k miles and P0301 (cyl 1) misfire keeps popping up. I wonder if the coilpack is going south, a spark plug or could be an injection issue.

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the first spark plug service is year 3 (around 36-37k miles). You could swap spark plug and/ or coil pack to see if misfire moves cylinders. I would move one thing at a time to see what changes.

      @@DriveTalkCars so he calls me tells me the light showed up again, this time it was a P0442, small evap leak. Any particular suspect besides resetting the gas cap on these cars? I heard the fuel filler neck cracking but we haven't actually gotten our hands dirty yet, except checking with the scanner.

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no...small evap leaks can be tough to find. If gas cap is cool, I would try hose system next. Smoke machine really makes finding leaks “easier”. I had a cracked valve cover on my E63 and probably wouldn’t have found it without the smoke machine.

      DriveTalkCars it definitely will help me when I do mine this weekend. I’m always OCD with everything. Is their anyway you can show me how 15fp of torque looks like on the torque wrench? That way I know 100% that I set it correctly please. I know how to , but just want to confirm 100%
