    What about the oil light reset

  • @JamesDIYGarage
    @JamesDIYGarage 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    I highly recommend getting a set of ramps you can shove under the front tires when you jack the car up. It is soooo dangerous to get under the car with only the hydraulic jacks holding it up. Those have been known to fail. The ramps under the front tires will stop the car from falling on you should one of the hydraulic jacks fail. That is what I was doing before I got my Quick Jack.

    • @JamesDIYGarage
      @JamesDIYGarage 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heck even with the safety locks engaged on the quick jack, I never get under the car unless someone else is there with me just in case.

    • @DriveTalkCars

    The oil change is Not done until the oil change indication (yellow wrench) has been reset. Most vehicles from the mid 2000’s (20 years ago) require this to be completed. Unfortunately a newer OBD scanner is required.

    Thank you for posting this video! I like taking my car to a wonderful local shop (rather than the dealership) for small maintenance tasks, and they needed confirmation on the oil and filter type in order to proceed. Note to any newcomers of Maserati/Ferrari ownership: they only release information on schematics to Maserati dealerships, which wrings you into only using them as a maintenance option (this presents a problem if you're on the road and need a new windshield wiper or an oil change because they cannot pull the required parts up in their system. Thank you for including the supply list with the video.

    You just answered the question that was driving me nuts. I was planning on changing the oil on my Maserati again and saw online the 5w-40 pennzoil but it didn’t have the Ferrari logo no more and the bottle changed ... I was nervous since the bottle looks different now but since I just saw you confirmed it’s the same one just changed the bottle I’m buying them 🙌

    • @DriveTalkCars
      @DriveTalkCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I was confused too! I called Maserati service and parts department to confirm if it would work. They confirmed and said the most important thing is that it is 5w-40 platinum euro full synthetic. The formula from the two bottles have the same important values. And if there was a difference it would be very very minor.

      Thank you for your concern and feedback. You are right…always use jack stands or ramps. I did end up using them for this job after I took off the underbody for panels. But I will use them from the beginning next time.

    That socket isn't 27 inch or 27 bit. It is a 27 millimeter.

    Never get under a car supported only by jacks. Yikes.

    5W40 is not the right oil for this engine. At least 5W50 or 10W60.
    And where is the inspection deletion?

    Unbelievable. This guy is so unsafe and risks being killed. He's using two jacks no jack stands no ramps no chocks. Why would anybody even watch this guy!?. Unbelievable just unbelievable. 😢

      Thank you for the feedback and your concern. I did have a jack stand under the car on the driver side (3:07). You are right, I should have jack stand on both sides. Safety is key and should always be first priority. Thanks again for your comment and watching.
