And even hotel california is a great solo, even though it is slow, "perfect" or soulful execution is pretty hard

Comfortably Numb is a great trck with an amazing solo but personally i like the solo in On the Turning Away more, but both(tbh most PF solos) are definitely worthy to be called legendary.

This is probably the best I've ever heard some of these played. I mean you actually played Sultans of Swing without a pick, took the time to learn the end of November Rain, and just slayed Comfortably Numb (seriously that was magnificently played).
Sultans is usually played without a pick, Mark did.
I've listened to hundreds of guitar solos, but comfortably numb is still and will always stay the best.

The Comfortably Numb solos are friggin' transcendent. Every time I listen to that song Gilmour's guitar gives me chills.
I feel David Gilmour has even gotten better at playing them. The Live at Pompeii version is way better than the studio version in terms of the solos in my opinion. Truly takes you to another world.

The another brick solo is like a masterclass in the "less is more" guitar solo.
Repair Update Repeat anything by David Gilmour fits that category to a T
I know the solo too, but what makes a HUGE difference in it is how you play it. For me, the exact touch of Gilmour is almost impossible to replicate. Even owr friend here did a good job, his notes are perfect, but you can still feel the difference from the original.
Honestly, I'd say that masterclass belongs to Sultans of Swing. Mark Knopfler is one of the best ever at making a guitar give off a sense of atmosphere.

I knew David Gilmour will end up as the winner before even watching. He really shows and prooves, you don't need to be the fastest or the one with most skills, playing with your heart and emotion is enough and Mark Knoplfer is another great example...great video mate

You're the only guitarist I've seen so far that puts the proper harmonics into the Comfortably Numb 2nd solo ( 9:29 and 9:58 ).
The solo, no matter how well done by others, is never complete without them. They add so much emotion to it, and lack that feel without them.

Very very true. I have seen a lot and they don’t use the pinch harmonics. Only thing is - his harmonic hits on the wrong part of the bend so it’s like 1/2 step off

November Rain managed to be the longest song to ever get on the Billboard 100 (at #3 no less) and was the most requested video on MTV in 1992 and 93, during the peak of grunge. Truly a remarkable song and an incredible solo, in my top 3 along with Child In Time (Deep Purple) and Comfortably Numb.

Comfortably Numb is probably David GIlmour’s most iconic solo(s) though my favourite from him probably has to be Marooned. Seeing him play that live it’s near impossible not to get shivers from the first note.

Comfortably Numb is undoubtedly one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded, Gilmour's sense of feel and emotion in those solos (especially the ending) are just godlike and I absolutely love them (Numb was also one of the first Floyd solos I learned alongside Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)

I was expecting Comfortably Numb in the last. The hardest thing to play this solo for me is that you need to put your soul in there to touch the heart and to sound perfect, and you did it. What an incredible job you're doing man! Congrats!

Absolutely agree November rain has to be as close to the perfect GNR song there is it slaughters welcome to the jungle and even stomps out nightrain (my personal favorite)
