The first Boeing 7 4 7 of this airline was named Agra in 1971 and completed its last commercial flight on a domestic route on March 20 21. This Boeing 7 4 7 had 423 seats, including 12 First Class seats, 26 Business Class seats, and 385 Economy seats. The world's first 7 4 7 flight was operated by Pan Am Airlines from New York to London on January 21, 19 70.
Air India Says ''GOODBYE'' To Boeing 747! Here's Why
When flying in this country with Air India, besides commercial missions, the 7 4 7 aircraft of Air India were responsible for carrying senior officials, including former prime ministers.
Monday witnessed the departure of Agra, the first of four jet aircraft, from Mumbai Airport, their base. According to industry sources, another is expected to leave soon, while the remaining two are not airworthy and will be dismantled for parts. Air India has appointed UK-based Skytech AIC to handle the deregistered jets in 20 22. All four were acquired between 19 93 and 19 96, according to aviation portal AeroTime. Agra, registered as VT EVA, was deregistered last year after being decommissioned. A temporary US registration, N940AS, was applied last week to allow its departure.
So why did the 7 4 7 cease operations with Air India, and did it receive a deserving farewell?
