At this point after watching Gemma for quite some time I just hit the like button BEFORE watching the video ❤❤❤. This is absolutely stunning! I love everything about it but I can say especially the exterior sliding shutters. Thank you for sharing.
I am especially moved that you translated the owner's experience of loving the light coming through the barns of her memories, and integrated that feeling into the design. This is what I enjoy the most about your work! On another note - as lovely as that staircase looked, i would build it out in wood and put in storage. In Scandinavia, it seems there is never enough storage.
You are an extraordinary teacher in addition to a stellar architect. I am learning a LOT from your videos. There is a pedagogical aspect to your explanations that simply does not exit in other architectural content on TH-cam. Thank you!
It's always such a joy when you drop a video. Its a welcomed relief to hear your soothing voice and see your creative vision come to life in such uncertain times. I watch these videos with my mother, I can't wait to share this one with her and make her day brighter :)
I immediately recognized the ideas of Gert Wingårdh from his own house, which is an old Swedish wooden building (also redpainted pulling the red colour into the kitchen). This plan for the woodland cabin here is absolutely gorgeous, so I hope the owner will implement it wholeheartedly.
Soooooo beautiful. The feeling in all your designs is so calm, harmonious, nurturing and grounding. I sank into this one with such pleasure as it unfolded and can't wait for the next.
Another gem by Gemma! You just impress me so much Gemma. Loved the walls of the bath, the light. Have you ever received any awards for your designs? You should. Thanks for sharing your work.😊💖
I never fail to watch when your videos are posted and am constantly amazed by your designs. This might be your most brilliant repurposing of a small structure yet. I love the use of light against the natural woods and how you created the bathroom walls to allow the defused light to make the bathroom more than a windowless space.
Gemma, this is an elegant reimagining of the old horse stables. I loved the use of polycarbonate and don't know why it's not more widely used in residential homes where using glass is not really necessary. If the "client" ever got around to the transformation, whether fully realised or not, the outcome would be striking.
I have been watching your channel for quite a long while, and always appreciated the architectural insights you share. Just wanted to recognise that the quality of 3d rendering has really gone up a few notches. I especially enjoyed the atmospheric effect used in the fireplace room, showing the path of the sunlight indoors, and the flare effect when panning towards and away from the sun.
Gemma you’re a magician! Love the fireplaces you add! And the nod to the original design of the structure by adding in elements that would be original…Your houses are 🔥…Very cool…
This would probably end up being a completely new build in the shape of the previous barn. But the end result is great and fits the client brief perfectly. I love the way you played with light in this one.
Absolutely stunning! Your designs are so unique , this one is over the top gorgeous. Have you considered a Q & A video? I'm sure others have questions as well; Where are you from? Country of origin. What inspired you to be an architectural designer? Would love to see a tour of your home, how an AD decorates their space and changes you incorporated to meet your style/needs. TY
A couple of ideas. Would it be possible to put a wardrobe near the bathroom? A coat stand is enough upstairs to hang your bathrobe and your current set of clothes. Also would it be possible to make the hinged slat at the front double as an awning when you are having a BBQ?
Beautiful! With loft-style spaces like this I always wonder how to block sunlight for sleeping in the summer? As well as noise when one person is awake and about downstairs and the other would like to sleep.
Sue here: wow! Light - as a design element - to be enjoyed every day AND night !!! Imagine moonlight - ❤. Your designs are precious. I want this in the new system 😊.
This is a lovely re-imagining of space. I particularly like the double slat effect upstairs. However, as a Canadian living in Ontario, I have 2 concerns.....all the heat loss in winter, and heat absorption in summer. The triple arched overhang may provide some shade but there should be some substantial window coverings in winter. A roll down blind looks like it could fit. Also, if this is located in Ontario, the roof design of the addition is asking for collapse or leaks. With potential accumulation of 3 metres of snow, that roof design is a problem. If this is a Pacific Coast property, my concerns are less relevant, but anywhere else in the country requires a decently pitched roof.
This is beautiful! My only problem with this, and some of your other lovely houses, is that it would be very difficult for a disabled person to live in these spaces. Myself, I would SO love to live in a "Tiny House" or one of your beautiful creations, but my inability to climb stairs would be a problem.
You’re right. This one has been designed to take this into account: I Turned this Tiny Stone Cabin into a Minimalist Micro Home (Wheelchair Accessible) th-cam.com/video/-4oz4Hahx8o/w-d-xo.html
Well resolved. The only two issues I have are: 1. The location of the fireplace adjacent to the sitting area, this could be a potential fire risk. 2. I’d have preferred if the bathroom had glazing opening to a view. A bath with a view and some wine is always a plus in my own opinion
i love the playful use of light and materials... it's more a Dreamland Wood Cabin now... the only thing i would have made differently would be the where the fireplace is located, i would like to have it at the junction of Kitchen, Dining and Living Area... and for personal joice i would use one of those old freestanding black Iron log burners...
Beautiful work 🙏🏽❤️I love what you came up with and it’s so beautiful to see a building not destroyed but repurposed to look amazing and functional!!! Beautiful!!!
Every time I see a new design made by you, Gemma, I have to stop doing whatever I am doing to watch it. All the designs look amazing and I wish I had the money and availability to move into any of them.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your architectural insights. I appreciate how you break down all the elements that figure into a liveable and aesthetically pleasing structure.
I really like this. The slatted shutters breaking up the light are lovely. My big worry with using so much glass is heat transmission during summer, and heat loss in winter. The slats are a great summer solution, but winter? I also like the use of polycarbonate for the bathroom.
His name is pronounced like Yirt Weengord with a hard g 😊 but spelled Gert Wingård. I loved the use of his wall. Fell in love with it years ago when I saw it in some interior design magazine.
It's been a long time since I checked in with you ❤️ I must say ...your architectural vocabulary is most consistent and yet each space is lovingly stylish in an individual manner. If you were a singer...you could sing any song ever written and still make it your song! Brilliant.🙏 I am so tempted to send you my tiny home in St Petersburg FL....do I dare 🤔
Terrific design and the layering of light and transparency is inspired. The only element for me that doesn't work is the eave arches on the extension which looks like googie MCM bank architecture. In my opinion, clad angle braces like those supporting the roof overhangs on the main structure would be a better option. Regardless, I love your design ethic.
Lovely! You are so thoughtful about retaining the history of this building and yet extending it to current standards of modern sensibilities. Excellent work as usual.
I like this design as I like all of your designs. I would prefer an open staircase, as in floating risers that would allow for a desk area. If not that it could be storage for vacuum, luggage toilet paper and so on. I would have prefered either over concrete stairs which can appear cold.
Gemma , I like most of your house designs .
But this one is amazing !
I wish I could move in right away .
The use of light ...
Lady , you are a genius
Totally agree!❤❤❤❤
At this point after watching Gemma for quite some time I just hit the like button BEFORE watching the video ❤❤❤. This is absolutely stunning! I love everything about it but I can say especially the exterior sliding shutters. Thank you for sharing.
Same!
Haha thank you!
I do the same!
Me too!!!
It's so amazing how she takes these disasters of buildings and reimagines them as beautiful and functional homes.
I thought exactly the same thing

This makes me very happy to hear. Best wishes to you and your mum x

I love this one! Only two critiques: I need more storage and I *hate* the washer placement right next to the toilet.
Another gem by Gemma! You just impress me so much Gemma. Loved the walls of the bath, the light. Have you ever received any awards for your designs? You should. Thanks for sharing your work.😊💖

The fact that you embodied the childhood memory into a house, is just jawdropping! Amazing!
Oh, Gemma yet another outstanding design. Your talent is exemplary. I immensely enjoy watching your creativity unfold. Bravo.

Your rendering with all the light play is gorgeous and mesmerizing. Thank you.

The bathroom is glorious, as is the natural lighting throughout the home.
Gemma you’re a magician! Love the fireplaces you add! And the nod to the original design of the structure by adding in elements that would be original…Your houses are 🔥…Very cool…
Un proyecto muy bonito, saludos de un cantero y restaurador de muros antiguos de piedra de Barcelona.
Another wonderful design 😊
Thank you! 😊
This would probably end up being a completely new build in the shape of the previous barn.
But the end result is great and fits the client brief perfectly.
I love the way you played with light in this one.
Fantastic work, lovely to see the brief reflected and enhanced! Love it ❤
Thank you so much!
Just waiting + asking for a new video = HERE IT IS !!!! Gemma, most of your ideas are nothing but lovely ..... so great !!!!! ❤ from Germany !!!
They many ways you displayed thr natural light throughout the building was beautiful and amazing!
Absolutely stunning! Your designs are so unique , this one is over the top gorgeous.

You are so lucky, Gemma, that you get to live your life doing just what you chose to do. Never quit.
I just love your thought process in every design something new always.
Spectacular!
Simply stunning, one of my favorites so far.

Wow, Gemma created a Tardis ... again 😮
Excellent as always.
I am obsessed with your channel and I feel so inspired and relaxed everytime after watching one of your videos ❤
Not sure when you got to 100k subscribers so here’s my congratulations
Thanks! :)
Phenomenal! Such a refreshing development of thought, creativity and design! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sue here: wow! Light - as a design element - to be enjoyed every day AND night !!! Imagine moonlight - ❤. Your designs are precious. I want this in the new system 😊.
That's gorgeous! I'd love to see some of these ideas having been fully executed - are there any videos of any of them?
Another spectacular design! My favorite part is the bathroom - a true sanctuary!
Looks like a perfect artists retreat.

Another home run. You are so amazingly creative, Gemma!
gorgeous as always! i really hope the client executes this design and we can see the "after"!

Love the cozy living room. Beautiful design. Definitely would make a wonderful, romantic weekend getaway.
You are so incredibly creative!
Wonderfully re-imagined space and the play of light throughout the day.
Absolutely beautiful - so gifted and diligent and creative - I'm in awe!
His name is pronounced like Yirt Weengord with a hard g 😊 but spelled Gert Wingård. I loved the use of his wall. Fell in love with it years ago when I saw it in some interior design magazine.
Ah thanks! Still probably wouldn’t brave saying it out loud on here!

You can trust me on the pronunciation.
I’m from Sweden, just like him 😊
Wow! I love this one, so coherent and considerate of practicality and sentimentality ❤ very well don!
It's been a long time since I checked in with you ❤️

I love this! It keeps the spirit of a barn or a stable, but it looks like such a cute place to stay. Great job as always and thank you for sharing.
This is another of your brilliantly innovative designs, Gemma.👏👏👏👏👏
WONDERFUL! I think this one is my favorite. So bar like throughout…such beautiful light.
Terrific design and the layering of light and transparency is inspired. The only element for me that doesn't work is the eave arches on the extension which looks like googie MCM bank architecture. @2:05 yes, I am one of the many viewers who loves to try to plan the space before I see your brilliant choices. 😅
Your designs are always so satisfying. Nothing needs to be demolished when it can be reimagined like this.
Yes, please.
Delighted to see you take on a Canadian case.
Lovely! You are so thoughtful about retaining the history of this building and yet extending it to current standards of modern sensibilities. Excellent work as usual.
Just another 10 levels up once again!!! Fantastic work 🎉
What complexity of effects achieved with superb creativity and apparent simplicity! A magical space! G Ire

Love it my favorite so far!

Best one yet!
It's just gorgeous. You really outdid yourself on this one. Love it.
