GTA: LCS and VCS were probably the best installments in the GTA series. I'm partial to Liberty City (the town, not the game), but VCS is arguably the better game of the two. Always annoyed me they cut the multiplayer, but the PS2-era engine of GTA was absolutely _not_ designed for splitscreen. It also annoys me to no end that most people pretend like these two games don't exist. If you owned a PS2 (which is what most people played GTA on), then they were just the next installment in the series at the time.
Both were better than the previous entries (GTA 3 & Vice City). Mechanically, LCS was much closer to VC and VCS was a lot closer to San Andreas. The maps were also more fleshed out, especially Vice City Stories, it makes Vice City look like a beta version. The only problem was the god awful framerate of LCS on PS2, which makes it harder to decide between PSP/PS2. VCS however was easily better on PS2 in every way.
i dont think anyone would argue against VCS being the better one. it has a much more consistent framerate, its soundtrack is 10 times better than LCS, and its got fuckin Phil Collins in it. that said, both are great and neither will fail to provide a fun time on the go.
I love VC Stories too! The sound track on V Rock and Wave 103 were much better on VC Stories than on regular Vice City in my opinion. The scripting and dialog between Lazlow and Ed are hilarious! They also got Phil Collins a mission and concert scene.
Yeah, this was a really weird trend, it'd be like if Square Enix released PS2 versions of games like Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and The 3rd Birthday shortly after their PSP releases, especially since they were killer apps and meant to be a reason to get a PSP.
Birth by Sleep was supposed to be a PS2 release before being delayed a bunch and the team deciding to shift to a more relevant console with comparable hardware.
For anyone loving GTA but never got a hold of a PSP for the LCS/VCS games, I have a tip for you. The PSP emulator PPSSPP is very easy to install on your phone or PC and not only emulates the PSP flawlessly, it also upscales the games. This was something I overlooked; I thought "oh god, touchscreen? Yuch!" and was right about it. But seeing the quality of the graphics within the emulator makes it difficult for me to play some games on original hardware (or ported into the Adrenaline PSP program for the Vita), and I now play some games on the phone using a Dualshock 4 clipped onto a mobile holder. I never thought this would be my style of playing but GTA just looks so good. Anyway, this method was far better than playing VCS on PSXPS2 on PC, so don't get fooled. If you want to play LCS or VCS on the PC, go for PPSSPP and the PSP games, not a PS2 emulator for the PS2 versions.
I bought a psp for the first time last year and I still play it regularly. It is amazing. The only thing I hate is some games will NOT save even tho I have enough storage. Other than that it is the best

The PS2 version of Twisted Metal Head On apparently had a lot of issues. Some jumps couldn't be done the same between the consoles, almost like the PS2 versions map size is scaled up a tad. Plus some audio is missing.

My only issue with the PSP to PS2 and vice versa games were the fact that some of the games released on both systems were just PSP games that were ported to the PS2 and never got proper controls or a graphical upgrade due to the slight performance advantage the PS2 itself had. I think if devs had a little bit more time to put polish into each release of each game, they would have had a better turnout rate with what was released. I never played them because that was the only console I didn’t get that into growing up, but I definitely played GTA 1, and 2 and had the time of my life for hours from that overhead perspective. Infinite health, all weapons, a car, a bridge and oil slicks can provide hours of fun haha…
Remember,Ya can plug controller into psp if ya want
The only one of these games I played was "Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters." I only owned the PS2 version. I never owned a PSP.

2:21 "say-fin"???
scott its "sigh-fawn"
Mid-western accent (especially Ohio)
Yknow what they say. PSP. It's like a nut that you can play with outside, but sometimes you wanna stay inside.
psp goated
PS2 is still the number one best-selling console no console has top it yet
finally a video I'm not 3+ years late to lmao
As a ps2 collector i never seen that template of ps2 covers, to where the psp adaptations on ps2 are "only on playstation." I dont think that it really loses magic playing it on a console then on-the-go, but this is the same person that doesnt have a PSP
What’s wild is there’s a few that came to PS3 too: MGS Peace Walker, both God of War games…might be forgetting something
The PS2 version of Twisted Metal Head On apparently had a lot of issues. Some jumps couldn't be done the same between the consoles, almost like the PS2 versions map size is scaled up a tad. Plus some audio is missing.
Ahuevo el FIFA 14 con el Chicharito
What we’re the extra 4 twisted metal black stories?
back in the day, the PSP blew my mind, my first game on there was Lego star wars 2 and to see it near console parity (hell some extra content too) blew my mind, sadly we didnt get many games only a handful here and there, but once we got Ratchet & Clank Size matters I was glued to that little powerhouse. and around the twilight years of the systems life was when I was finally able to afford some of the better games like Crisis Cor and the God of War games. loved that little handheld. kinda wish I could go back and relive those experiences lol
Parity. It's called "console parity".
i remember using it even as a dedicated mp3 player and watched downloaded videos on it. Even had a cable that would allow to connect the psp to a television for gaming and watching the same videos on a big screen.
@@dasdasdus after my brother took the PSP over to a friends house (they had internet and we didnt at the time) he downloaded so many MP3's and videos like episodes of this British TV show called Spaced, and so many Viral at the time videos, it was such a treasured device way back then, Ive even modded my Vita to access the PSP Emulated that it has built inside and its like reliving the glory days.. without having to use the unique UMDs of course haha even miss those flimsy things
@@ens5n1e07p thank you kindly, no ones actually spelt it out, ive only ever heard it said and they always seem to sound like Parody, ill have to fix that.
@@jokesplays4059 Yeah, I get it. The fact that the automatic TH-cam captions (and some closed captioning services hired by TH-cam creators to do their captions) spelled it out as "parody" doesn't help at all.
GTA liberty city stories is like unimproved GTA three when I finally got to play it for the PS2
I didn't think that the PS2 versions of GTA looked better than it's PSP counterparts. I sure never noticed it. Not even now when you point it out.
Yeah, that and the Wii extended the life of the PS2, and it spit on the sega Nomad, which was a handheld sega intended to extend the Genesis life, and it failed to do so.
Its funny cause Liberty city stories was one of my favourite games from the ps2... Years latter i found that it was a portable game lol
Motorstorm Arctic Edge needs a sequel on ps5… such a fun game
Someone make a clip of the secret agent clank moment

No Silent Hill Origins mention??
This is a "Main Channel Video" but published on second channel ?
*third channel at this point
It’s a specific chapter of one of his videos
How do I not remember this episode.
You should have finished high school?, You should have finished college 😂🤣
From portable nut to home console nut .
Ohhh Scott...
I used to play the patapon, flat out head on and the motor storm Arctic edge psn demos like I owned the full games 😂 wish I could go back. I still remember going to get my psp for my 9th birthday from toys r us in 2007. I got the sliver psp 2000 daxter game bundle also came with family guy season 1.
Wait liberty city stories started as a psp exclusive?!
I had this annoying bug from the PSP version of Size Matters that once I beat the game my saved progress would be gone, reduced to atoms... To this day I still wonder what the heck was I doing wrong with that game for my progress to disappear like that. Not sure about the PSP version being more stable when you have an irritating bug like that lol
are you the same guy from Royal Skies's youtube channel?
Now this to Legendary console can be played anytime anywhere on Android Device Using Emulat1on and Handheld PC
What about the consoles games that ported to psp?
Would be cool to have a video about PS3 ports on PSP, lol.
I can't really think of any of those off top of my head. Like the PSP got Madden 12 and FIFA 12 but those are the PS2 versions that got ported down.
But Birthday by Sleep and Crisis Core stayed on PSP. I hadn't realized how many PSP games got a PS2 port.
it feels wrong to talk about the psp to the ps2 without the psvita..
To be fair Scott kingdom hearts also got that treatment chain of memories got a ps2 port from it gba original release
“I had always dreamed of a handheld capable of console experiences all my life!”…. But you were barely 8 years old then so how tf?! Lol I remember being 13 and feeling like it took forever too. 😂
Vice City stories is my second favorite gta game after san andreas i wish i could play it on series x
These devs still did a good job though (Not looking at you High Impact, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier was an absolute disaster and you should be ashamed of yourselves)
