Colorado blows 29-0 lead vs Stanford...

  • The college football game between Stanford and Colorado saw the Buffaloes blow their largest lead in school history as 29-0 lead evaporated over the course of the second half before Stanford ultimately won 46-43 in overtime. The Cardinal were led by wide receiver Elic Ayomanor, who put up a monster stat line of 13 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns. The loss is absolutely crushing for Coach Prime and Colorado, as it puts their bowl hopes in serious jeopardy and kill the momentum they have built up to this point in the season.

      I watched this game live, since i stay up late. The one thing i remember from this game was how undisciplined Colorado was, especially after half-time. heck, at 7 minutes left in the 3rd (1:49 in the video) you can see they have 11 penalties for 91 yards. they finish with 17 penalties for 127 yards. That is unacceptable for any team. Along with some bad coaching decisions, Stanford never giving up, and Ayomanor having a game for the ages, you have a game Colorado deserved to lose.

    Okay, so after watching this video, I went back and watched the game again. I think I started to realize the main issue Colorado had: in the second half, they just didn't tackle well. Their offense is great, except for a few miscues. Their defense is seemingly out of sorts on most plays, living dangerously on every down. Lots of half-hearted tackle attempts, that wouldn't have worked even at the high school level. I don't know what happened at half time, but the Colorado defense didn't come back out of the tunnel ready to keep that lead.

    • @bjvu9460
      @bjvu9460 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That had nothing to do with it. Every team has new players coming in and out yearly. His ego and the fact that he doesnt know anything about coaching, the bottom of the barrel players, etc is why the team is where they are. They had 9 months to jell .. The O line is terrible whether they play for another ten years together , the defense is terrible whether they play another 10 years together, the players sint big enough , strong enough, or fast enough to hang with the players on the opposing team etc. His team is similar to having a nfl team with the worse roster even though they are nfl players and are the best out of the college roster. There are still levels to being good and better and great and they are no where near being good much less great

    • @INTJerk
      @INTJerk 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bjvu9460 I could have expanded on my post because the stylistic approach was another reason I was giving too. Deion's "rah-rah" coaching style runs more on emotion than anything else, and emotions are an up-and-down rollercoaster, which is precisely how they are performing. Throughout the course of the season, you need a steady, even-keeled attitude if you expect to perform consistently.
      But I don't retract my commentary about the way the team was constructed. How can the team expect to have any sort of cohesion and identity when the roster was throw together so haphazardly? A team is much more than the sum of the parts and you can't expect good results if there is such extreme turn-over from year to year. There is a reason why "returning players" is considered an import factor when predicting team success for a given year.

      My analysis of this defeat.
      1. Travis was out due to injury and returned to play both sides of the field, which I think was too much for his return. Not to make excuses but he looked exhausted playing the corner back position, which requires a lot more energy.
      2. The Buffs have to figure out how to score on a 1st and Goal. All season long, I have seen them squander opportunities when they have 1 yard to go for a touchdown. They could be 1st down and goal and fail to run the ball in the in zone. They run the same play up the middle and fail. Why don't they ever try running from the outside or a quarter back sneak?
      3. I don't hear anyone speak of the play that turned the momentum coming out after 1/2 time was the 4th down that the Buff's went with when they were up 29 points. They failed and it was the beginning of the first touchdown for Stanford as they had great field position. Who directed that changed the momentum of the entire game. All year long, the Buffs have been poor at executing 4th downs and it has something to do with their inability to establish a rushing game. It becomes predictable on a 4th down if the only option is pass.
      4. The team is too small and they have extreme issues covering bigger players, who are more physical. It's not the talent that's lacking for the Buff's but the size and physicality of the opponent takes over as they out muscle the Buff's.
      5. I find it interesting how the outsides are happy to celebrate the loss wanting to blame Shedeur. But the offense scored 43 points and it seems to be a requirement every week to even have a chance to win. When has a quarterback thrown for 400 with 5 touchdowns and lose? 😂What does Shedeur have to play defense too? Where would the Buff's be without him?

    Once again I am saying, no one knows if Sanders is an actual good Xs and Os coach. He's a great motivator and recruiter but he made questionable calls at the end of the USC game that burned clock they could've used.
    This game he went for it on fourth down from nearly mid field up 29-0 with one of the best punters. Didn't get it, Stanford scores and the run starts. Later it's 4th and 4 from the 45 up 29-19 and he goes for it again, gets an intentional grounding call and they lose 20 yards, Stanford scores. So far he hasnt shown he's an actual good coach
