The worst thing that happened to CU was beating TCU in that first game. Not because they won, but because Sanders acted like he won a national championship afterwards and started calling everyone out instead of trying to check expectations and being humble.
The programme won 1 game. You think this man is Jesus. Next year 7/8 wins will be respectable. Programs take time to build. Deon knows excellence. Who are you to judge him lol

Deion Sanders ruined his season by winning 2 games and was like , “ChEcK the RecEiPts”. Then when he faced real competition he got blown out. Players stomping on Oregon’s logo and cussing at Oregon players at pregame? Bro that’s how people come out to destroy you. I’m glad they did.

If we're honest, most people didn't hate Deion or Colorado, but the way the media covered them. To be on gameday, Big, Noon, AND 60 Minutes within 4 weeks is crazy. Undisputed with Skip Bayless, the Cowboy homer had him on the show every week too.
I was originally on team deion because all I knew was what the suck-up media was saying about him. I quit that team after hearing him in his own words at that press conference after the TCU game.
I blame the officials for not calling any penalties on CU the first half (especially that blatant false start) and Briles for running the ball down the throat of CU, only to "spice it up" and have Chandler Morris throw a pick. FFS. _Every play was a successful running play_ so he decided to pass. 🤦♂ It sucked that despite a piss-poor defense and no tape to watch, we lost by 3. If we could have won that game, the season for both teams would have been truly different.
I lost a fair bit of respect for them in the lead up to the Oregon game and in the immediate aftermath. After complaining about the disrespect that Colorado State showed them for things like stomping on the logo, they turn around and do the same thing. Coach Prime blaming the players when nobody on the team looked prepared. Then to go out and claim that Oregon colluded with other teams to get film on them. It was a bad look all around
That wasn’t disrespect 😂. Have you ever watched a coaches motivational speech before a game? Watch what colorado did before the game and then come back to me with that disrespect talk.

The issue is that Colorado averages 3-5 wins per year and everybody focused on the previous year where they had 1 win. So they basically had an average year with a whole new roster so we can’t really say if this is a better year or just a normal Colorado year. Almost the whole roster was new and as you pointed out it is unprecedented. Really hard to say if he turned the program around or just brought in new talent to hype the year. I think NIL and the portal is going to make college football like NFL football and each year will be different and no program building will be done anymore.
Saying any coach turned around a program after a single season is dumb. Look at TCU, they went from a fluke natty season to being mediocre again in one season
Colorado football has been irrelevant for like 20 years and day one of Prime being here we were one of the most talked about schools in the country and being taken seriously as a program. We all thought CU was gonna be one of the schools stuck in the Pac-12 as it died but now we have people paying attention. That is his most important impact on the team. We're not Rutgers West anymore
@@CodyMathews-l2q while everything you said was technically true. It’s only going to last for as long as there’s hope that he’s gonna turn it around. that kinda doesnt make sense. he wouldve gone somewhere established if he wanted to springboard. wiping an entire roster clean and starting from scratch is a long term plan of attack
As a USF fan, I initially felt we missed out when we hired Alex Golesh instead of Deion Sanders. (Especially when our two best receivers transferred to Colorado) Now I feel like we dodged a bullet considering we went from 1-11 to 7-6 with a bright future ahead of us.
As a UT fan, I swear on everything I miss Alex Golesh. He is a phenomenal coach and playcaller, and I will be rooting for USF so long as he's coaching there. Wishing you guys all the best 🙏🏽♥️
Y’all made an incredible hire. His run schemes are insane. Y’all beat the shit out of Syracuse in the bowl game and took Alabama to the wire. Yes that was also because of horrible weather and Alabama not playing their starting qb but still took a blue chip to the wire. That 7-6 record is great. Hope yall win the aac this year.
The thing with Deion is that he seems to just be looking for one type of player. He wants more hims, more deions. He can get them sure, but he’s almost making the recruiting class smaller. And if he wants more deions, what’s stopping them from changing teams like he did? Additionally, kids who want exposure might not want to play on a team where the main attraction is their coach and his sons. It’s very possible Deion levels out at consistent 8-4 seasons where he does win, but not enough to get to a bowl game.
I think another season or two of him hyping of guys like he did this past year (particularly offensive linemen he brought in) then publicly crucifying them not even a full year into it many guys won’t even want to go there. The other problem is I’m not sure how much he coaches, he’s more of a promoter than a coach it seems like and I just don’t see it working.
Well, 8 win seasons will get you bowl games, especially with Deion Sanders as your star money maker, but, yeah, he's looking for celebrity spotlight status. Funny thing is, I was rooting for him and CU to do well, until he and his arrogant, ignorant fanboys started talking. I was in their YT comments saying CU will get 4-6 wins tops, which will be good. Don't expect to win the Natty year 1. So many of them called me 'jealous' and 'hater' because I dared say they weren't winning it all. "Prime said we're winning it all; you're just a hater! We comin'!"
As Prime said that was the point of the first season. Getting the main guys. The depth comes the next year... and what do you know he spoke it into existence. People forget Prime's first year at JSU wasnt the best also.
Travis Hunter flipped from FSU to JSU and followed Prime to CU. That’s the first thing learn your facts! Second these kids are transferring for opportunities to play most of them 3-4 star transfer make the make look up the playing field in college football!
The most difficult part is getting good linemen. Those guys don't hit the portal often and when they do they are more likely to go to the Alabama, Ohio State, UGA, etc. Getting Seaton is a good start but he's going to need a lot more of them.
The HYPE was real… until they showed just how shitty they actually were. Had they played Ryan Staub earlier in the season perhaps they would’ve won more games cause that boy, in that last game, wasn’t all that bad. Prime had his head in his ass & wouldn’t let anyone outshine his little Shedeur. I don’t see them doing anything once again next year & I won’t be staying up till 1:30am to watch them loose again😂 I give them the same wins next year, 4 maybe 5 PERIOD. As far as the Sanders boys & Hunter going PRO, I just don’t feel it…but they got Prime’s name & backing to at least make it there but they won’t do a damn thing! Amazing video also & look forward to viewing more!
@monkeybals9714 Yeah. If any other coach didn't have an "O-line" or a "D-Line" who's fault is that. That's like playing basketball without a good center, or playing baseball without a good pitcher. At what point does the buck fall on Deion

This was edited beautifully, fantastic work as usual KTO. I love the use of clips to give perspective on what the media was saying about Colorado at different points in the year.
Many are right about Oregon humbling Colorado but that Stanford game was absolutely brutal. To me, that was the turning point of their season. Just want to also add, they should have never left the Big-12 in the first place. One of, if not, THE worst move in conference realignment.
Worst moves: ACC: Pitiful GOR for 8,000 years Big 12: Adding Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF to become the new AAC and losing their "power conference" designation. Big Ten: Adding Rutgers Pac-12: Not adding anyone after Utah and Colorado (This is by far the worst of all) SEC: Not adding FSU (the Big Ten will get a foothold in the South, the best recruiting state, and increase the B1G's financial lead). Also spurning CBS in favor of Disney's ESPN (who is going broke).
Oregon was great this year and it hurts as a Husky fan to say that...........I wished so badly that UW could play Colorado, hang 70 point on them and shut Deion, the players and their fans up. But, I'm glad ya'll did it for me.
True. I’m a bit biased as well as a duck fan who got the opportunity to see that game live at Autzen, but the fact that ticket prices for an away game were inflated by Colorado’s hype and the media was putting so much coverage on the game (gameday seems like they would have gone to Eugene if ND-OSU wasn’t the same weekend) 90% of which was about the buffs, made that win so much more satisfying. We all were shocked but not surprised at what we were seeing on the field
For added context to the Dan Lanning speech, there were videos leaked of Colorado players stomping on the ducks’ midfield logo, which was why he got fired up. Great video as always KTO!👍
It was one player, and he was feeling out the field. Quit overblowing the situation. And they apologized for it. You got what you deserved for believing your lies and being hypocritical.
Social media? Typical That's not what happened at all. The stomping of the logo happened over a decade ago Social media a bad source. I know that's hard to believe...but this whole CU trend culture was mostly created on social media, so there you go.
As much as I got tired of Colorado news, it showed how much smaller college football is than professional sports. Just one former pro athlete starting a frenzy over his bad team was a bigger story than Alabama ever is. It just means more eyes are on college football than ever before.
and just like with taylor swift of you were mad about the over coverage and then complained under every post you fed into the outrage cycle and made them post more lol
That's because Bama lost early in the season and people wrote it off as them falling off like Clemson did. But surprise, Sabans Bama is harder to kill than a roach infestation. And the quietly crept up to the top. Also CFB has more eyes on it now cause there's more money involved. Not a good thing. We are heading to a future where there's only 2 super conferences with the same 4 teams squashing all the other programs because of TV deals, dirty dealings with the cfp comittee and NIL exposure. Nah fuck cfb rn. I'd rather have low ratings than these cancerous super conferences destroying the sport.
So yall THOUGHT Deon sanders ( a head high school coach that had only spent a few years actually being a head coach)ACTUALLY was qualified for the FSU JOB??!!
Right. I don't know why he got all hurt about not being hired there. Programs like that are not going to hire someone with no experience. They want to win now and not wager it all on the hope they'll win tomorrow.
There’s qualification and there’s taking a chance on someone that starred in your program and giving it a shot. I bet they make the playoffs this year if Deion was their coach
@@buckdacious wtf are you talking about lol they couldn't have done any better than they did - they were punished for their starter being injured. How is Deion gonna prevent that?

Being confident is good. Being obnoxiously arrogant is something else. When he looked into the camera as a first year head coach with a scrambled and stitched together team and program that lost all but one game the year before and said “We comin” like they were the 85 Bears or something, I knew it was over. The bubble may not have popped at that exact moment but that was when the universe turned against them.

The thing that sticks with me is it seems the Buffs looked worse , and losing by wider margins , as the year went on. That is a sign of a team QUITTING / SHUTTING THE LOUD-MOUTHED COACH OUT. The guy is all hype. Kansas , Northwestern , other schools had much more impressive turnarounds. Those coaches don't flap their gums and wear gold chains though.

As a buffs fan for 20 years. Those first 3 weeks was our national championship. Years and years of being the laughing stock of power 5 football to being the biggest story in sports and the hype and fame that came with it. I grew up going to Colorado State games (my dad went there). I'm perfectly aware they're a mediocre program who might occasionally overachieve, but are going to be totally mid at best. So when Colorado had to take them to 2OT to win, I knew things were going to get rough for the Buffalos. I already forget which conference CU defected to for 2024, but Sanders might discover the tougher competition will take years to overcome. Or he'll take the first NFL gig offered to him.
I was at that game. As a buffs fan it was a roller coaster of emotions. But an incredible experience as it was my first buffs game. Storming the field is an experience. We were all worried CSU fans were going to storm the field😂
as a CSU fan it was so nice to see them fall of the earth. Let me put it this way. the phili 76ers were practicing at out arena for basketball and rather than coach his team he elected to spend a day talking to the 76ers instead. the head coach at CU was at CSU with a basketball team rather than helping his team be better. Thats all I think needs to be said about him

Yep, thats because he isn't even a real coach. He's just a figure head who tries to win by convincing talented players to make stupid decisions and play for him for the attention they will get vs going to a real program.
The worst part of "The Prime Effect" was all the people that flooded into the sport that knew nothing about it. All of them are what drove the media glazing.
I’m a huge Oregon fan, and seeing everyone join Colorado’s side before the game, then watching Oregon put them in their place was one of the best feelings ever.
I mostly stay in pro sports for a lot of reasons, but Prime had me glued to every game up to the Stanford loss. Absolute must watch TV for the first 4-6 weeks given your taste for hype. Even after that I found myself watching the highlights even if every outcome was an L. The Travis Hunter injury was devastating, the OL eventually got overwhelmed once teams got tape on their schemes, and overall the positivity ended up being toxic to a sustainable season. However like you said, this was an improvement for any normal program. The talk outside of the CU hype bubble is that you've got to go from losing big, to losing small, to winning small, to winning big. I'm not sure if they can accomplish that all by the time Prime's sons go off to the NFL, but honestly I'd be happy to be wrong. If nothing else, he's made college football relevant outside of the SEC plus the rotating cast of 4-5 teams. It's a reach for sure, but I think Washington might need to send some kudos his way for getting eyes on the Pac-12 in general to provide legitimacy to both Oregon and Washington on their way to that championship game. Last time Oregon was in the dance... it didn't go well.
As a CSU alum but an Atlanta native it was tuff but CSU lowkey exposing CU after all the hype made me so happy. Especially after all the dudes that’s don’t truly watch CFP (Stephen A.) talked all the crap it made it much nicer.
And why does Stephen a losing make you feel better let me tell you he does not care and let me tell you shit got more boring for the casual fan after that which made the sport suffer I don’t remember a single game being as hyped as the first few Colorado games and I’m avid football watcher but those games became more stale
Deion played the race card. That's all it takes these days. Millions of black people instantly considered him some kind of civil rights hero, and the media and general public latched onto this non-story for the rest of the year. And all because he started rambling about "people don't like seeing a confident black man" completely out of left field.
Worth noting that the day after the Stanford comeback, CSU came back from 10-30 in the 4th quarter to beat Boise State. Twas a good weekend to be in Fort Collins :)
Boise State student here. Watched the whole thing unfold and couldn’t do anything other than laugh after watching us blow a 20 point lead in a matter of 4 minutes. That was pretty embarrassing…
I can't say I was happy to see CU and prime lose. But when I was called a racist because I didn't think they'd win more than 5 games. I was glad to see them fall flat on their face.

As somebody who was in Colorado on vacation during the first 3 games. I can wholeheartedly say that the people of Colorado acted as if they just won the Super Bowl, World Series, the Stanley cup and the NBA finals all on the same day. Which, I can’t make them for acting as such.
They literally went 1-11 the year before. They lost hope in their program. They saw no elite players. to now having their town make over 30 million in the economy (not including what the school made), to seeing the hope and good players sprinkled in the new roster, to seeing them look competitive, to seeing them top rated recruits and transfers (literally as we speak).. so why wouldnt they act like they won the superbowl? If you were in their position you would be too. Literally look at SA Spurs fans. They're happier than ever even losing. Look at Lions fans, they're happier than ever bc they're now a top team. Look at any team who has gotten a grace of hope for their future or have already turned their story around. Lets not act like you wouldnt be doing the same thing too!

The decision to try and throw the ball from inside their own 5 yard line with about 30 seconds on the clock before halftime against Oregon State was one of the dumbest coaching decisions all season in college football. Oregon State ended up getting the ball back and scoring before half and Colorado ended up losing by 7. All Deion had to do was have his team take a knee and go into halftime. That boneheaded sequence did not get talked about enough

What people hate about Deion is he acted like they were the best team in college football and took all the credit. Then when they sucked it was the “players don’t want it enough”. News flash coach prime it’s on you to get them motivated, hungry and ready to execute.
Colorado could have had a better season but deions ego kept getting in the way. From telling the players that were there before him to find somewhere else to play, to him trash talking everyone after winning the first game, to complaining about how other PAC-12 schools treated Colorado, he kept giving teams extra fire and extra motivation to beat the Buffaloes. He’s also failed to recruit well this year so things still may not change for Colorado
It kind of felt like how KU started 5-0 last season and finished 6-7 - an incredible change from the norm, but it could've been so much more. We took a step up with us being 8-4 this season, which again is another step up, so I imagine it will be a similar story with Colorado.
Not like Kansas. Leopold didn't come in, hype everything up nationally, cut and bring in a bunch of transfers. He worked with what he had, same as Northwestern this season. They too were 1-11 last year. Truth is Sanders is all hype and is very charismatic. He can talk a good game as a coach, but he hasn't shows so far in the big boy portion of NCAA football he can hang. HS kids are decommitting and the big recruit OL hasn't signed actual paperwork to be officially committed to CU. He is still looking at other schools like Maryland.
the thing is, CU was winning 4+ games in every season but 1 since 2015. The previous year being a 1 win season is a false comp to make 4-8 look better. 4-8 isn't a noticeable improvement, its exactly what they have been for a decade.
It must've taken a while to get all these clips from a few months ago. Respect, great video. I got to go to the Nebraska Colorado game and it was insane.

As someone who doesn’t watch nor care about college football I know they had me interested those first few games. I had no idea they ended up 4-8 tho what a far cry from that crazy start
They beat three teams that ended up 5-7. TCU was an anomaly last season so when they beat them this year, everyone went WOW. Not realizing TCU wouldn't be the same as last year.
First of all, GO METS. Second of all, with all due respect, you not watching or caring about college football nullifies my interest in your opinion. It's like if I said "couldn't give a flip about baseball, but here's what I think of the Mets!" Who cares? Just being honest.
He took sacks because he didn’t want to ruin his completion percentage. And then flexes a stupid fucking watch after beating one other poverty team in the conference. He’s a scumbag.
He got so much heat for pumping his team up. It obviously worked too. I bet Colorado is happy they don't have to play the Ducks again in the near future.
Deion isn’t a good coach, he’s just Deion. That’s it. That’s the only selling point for making him a coach. He’s good at marketing and pushing his brand that’s it. He can bring in talent, the question is can he develop it?
People say that they went from 1-11 to 4-8, but it was NOT the same team that played in '22. They brought in plenty of transfers had one Hell of a list of assistant coaches that CU didn't have the year before.
Not crazy at all. Anyone who saw how ghetto and trashy CU acted before the Oregon game early in the season saw that coming. The team is too ghetto and undisciplined with Deion to ever get past 8-4. Maybe 9-3
Nah they didn’t, couple tough games but the PAC 12 was the best conference this year! And Prime said from the get go, once he get some Olineman in year 2, they’re gonna be monsters
The hype for this team was unreal. Major conference teams like this don't just flip a switch and go from 1 win to being contenders. I think we'll see if Deion can get it done over time.
4-8 is the exact same spot they were at 2 years ago with better recruits lol. I think they will improve but I don’t they will even be contending for a conference championship within the next 5 years

@@SportZFan4Ever Well. He just beat Penn State #1 in the portal. The roster is already stacked. Ole Miss is about to shake up the CFB world. Mark these words.
the media really blew this thing out proportion and helped inflate CU's ego. I went to visit my friend who goes to boulder for the CSU-CU game and it was unlike anything I've ever experienced. The entire town was alive and it seemd like every single person in the world was in Boulder. The energy in that stadium was so electric and it felt like rushing the field wasn't even a question. The students were just as shocked as the rest of world and seemed to just be enjoying the ride, though there were definitely some who thought they could win the natty. Truly insane how a college football storyline got this big.
And that’s why I don’t get why people hated it if someone’s enjoying something somebody always gotta be a wet blanket like I’m not even a cu fan or a Deion fan I was just having fun enjoying the game people got weird about it and I’m talking reckless about everybody unless you’re Michigan you have no ground to stand on like shut Oregon ooooh you beat Colorado and Alabama beat central Florida
Once they walked into Oregon in Week 4 it was as if all optimism that Colorado had was quickly destroyed. They never recovered from that beatdown and as a result, they lost 8 of 9 to end the year. There are pieces sure, but they have a long way to go before they can take down the nation's elite teams. Although they did improve in terms of quality of play rather than W-L I'll give them that.
If you watched the games they didnt lose bc of "that beat down" if you think all the optimism was lost bc of that Oregon game then you must havent been watching their games. All CU needed was Olinemen. Why do you think Shedeur was injured every week yet still was in Heisman talks? Past our opinions aint that crazy? He was the most sacked withno linemen yet still was a top QB. They almost came back and beat USC. Eventho USC was supposed to DESTORY THEM. If you watched their last game they got cheated of two TDs Travis had. Past that they can still take down Elite teams... if they had a linemen. Even without that if you have an ELITE QB or even just a team locked in you can do anything. Why do you think before the lions got good they would always beat the top teams? They played their game CORRECTLY. OR how Curry has been leading the Warriors and no one is happening? He is ELITE. So at the end of the day it takes time... A power 5 school doesnt win 1 game all year for no reason. They did what they said they was gonna do. Watch the Josh Plate /Joel Klatt recent podcast. They explain it perfectly.
They actually don’t have a long way to go. He got a ton of transfers and recruits and going to the big 12 where they don’t play defense, it’s gonna be a wild year next year!! Maybe even playoffs since it goes to 12! No Texas or OU, they got a great chance
@@buckdaciousCU is vastly overrated. The PAC-12 didn't play defense either. Only reason they may stand a chance in the big 12 is because all the good teams were replaced by G5 teams. He's setting the school up to fail when he abandons them in 2 years.
@@heroesofthescape well now with the new rules, it's really about the transfer portal more then recruiting. Look at the great teams this year, all transfer QBs and a ton at the skill positions. "The entire college football world" nah, not this one, they were shoved down our throats by ESPN and analysts, I knew they would struggle vs CSU and i knew they would get smoked by Oregon and I knew they would struggle the rest of the season, it went literally exactly how I expected it to from the 1st game to the end.
The worst thing that happened to CU was beating TCU in that first game. Not because they won, but because Sanders acted like he won a national championship afterwards and started calling everyone out instead of trying to check expectations and being humble.

Yawl playing them this year cant wait
This aged poorly
I think you mean "son" singular. Shedeur is the only one anyone talks about besides Deion.

We comin'!"
He will learn that you don’t win games with nothing but Deions. There’s room for a handful of egos. Not a locker room full of them.
Hard part about picking up a ton of transfers are those guys are mainly mid level backups on other teams. Not every transfer is Travis Hunter
Had they played Ryan Staub earlier in the season perhaps they would’ve won more games cause that boy, in that last game, wasn’t all that bad. and just like with taylor swift of you were mad about the over coverage and then complained under every post you fed into the outrage cycle and made them post more lol
No way you just said Colorado has a bigger story then Bama
don’t forget who started their downfall 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

Yo
@@buckdacious wtf are you talking about lol they couldn't have done any better than they did - they were punished for their starter being injured. How is Deion gonna prevent that?
There were a fair amount of hand wringers around Auburn, that they thought AU might have “missed” on hiring this fraud.
I flew to Colorado to see their game against USC & that place was ROCKING.... I'm hoping they can get to a bowl game next season but the Coach Prime effect is REAL. reat video man!

LMFAO you have zero championships, cry more incel
And why does Stephen a losing make you feel better let me tell you he does not care and let me tell you shit got more boring for the casual fan after that which made the sport suffer I don’t remember a single game being as hyped as the first few Colorado games and I’m avid football watcher but those games became more stale
Deion played the race card. That's all it takes these days. Millions of black people instantly considered him some kind of civil rights hero, and the media and general public latched onto this non-story for the rest of the year. And all because he started rambling about "people don't like seeing a confident black man" completely out of left field.
I went from highly rooting for Deon to quietly hoping his team does half decent

The decision to try and throw the ball from inside their own 5 yard line with about 30 seconds on the clock before halftime against Oregon State was one of the dumbest coaching decisions all season in college football. Colorado vs Colorado State this year is possibly the best football game I’ve seen. Great video!
I highly doubt it. CU doesn’t have the coaching to step up.

Once they got destroyed by Oregon I knew that was it 💀😭
