  • Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Today, I will be reviewing this Tronxy Moore 1 Ceramic Printer. I would like to thank Tronxy for sending me this printer to review. Personally, I don’t have any experience with making pottery, but I have seen some amazing videos on using clay to 3D print. Generally, commercial grade clay 3D printers like Lutum print very well, but they are also quite expensive, and can start from 3-4 thousand to 10 thousand dollars. So, I am quite interested to see how this $550 mini clay 3D printer works.

Hi, this is Eazao ceramic 3D printer. We are very happy to see more people using ceramic 3D printers, and the whole video shooting process is smooth and clear. However, we have a suggestion that after using the microwave kiln in your home microwave oven, it is best not to use the microwave oven again. During the safety period, the sintering time should not exceed 15 minutes. If it exceeds 35 minutes, it will damage the microwave oven and may cause the risk of microwave leakage. Still a good video!👍👍👍

Stumbled on this channel. You have a very bright career ahead of you. Many common interest areas with machines in the maker space.
This was an excellent gem of a channel to stumble upon

The fun looking thing to me about this process is using it as a starting point for more traditional pottery work. I can imagine printing a vessel, letting it dry to a bit wetter than greenware level, and then scraping it smooth and patching any flaws. A workflow like this mitigates some of the clay inconsistency issues too, at least if the pieces are for artistic purposes with noncritical properties - just patch the holes before you smooth it! The layer texture itself might also look nice with certain glazes.

Thank you very much for this great video. I can see, mushing with the clay made you very happy. You achieved good results in a very short time, AM-AZ-ING. Pottery has so many aspects and techniques, this affordable machine just adds to the fun. And you showed us how easy it can be. Great video, great research. Add a real kiln, a turntable and some basic tools and the sky is the limit. You did send us on our ways, FAN-TAS-TIC

    Loved your presentation.
You might look for another microwave oven for your kilning. They show up in free-piles frequently, and failing that, thrift stores.
My concerns with the printer would be the cleanup. You don't want to leave clay in the nozzle or the plastic tube to dry and harden.
It would be fun to see both you and your brother on the screen.

In germany we had working with clay in school. Of course not with 3d printers but by bare hand. Seeing someone wearing gloves working with clay seems a bit - lets phrase it mildly - "uncommon" ;-)
A classic way to sculpt clay by hand is to make the basic model with small rools of clay. Afterwards you detail out and flaten everything by hand, using water; maybe some tools for details. While as a 3d printing fan I definitly like the look of the print, I am pretty sure the print is normaly ment to be post processed by hand. Thats one of the big advantages of clay - with some water and handwork you can perfectly smooth prints.
In germany working with clay is quite a common hobby - and you often find people who burn your objects for a low price. The microwave way does not seem optimal to me - esp. as you might do a second, hotter burn after you added glas powder to make your ceramic usable as a water tight cup, vase or whatever.
I wish Tronxy will publish this "printhead" also as an "upgrade" for existing printers. I already have a Jennyprinter 650 [650 by 650 by 650 mm³ volume], still not assambled. Would be great to add a clay extruder... I do not know why all theese manufactorers want to make ready to use printers for special uses. Most people working with clay see it as art, so 3d printers would be a no-go. But upgrade kits for 3d hobyists, thats the market they should targeting. I want a clay print tool, a chocolate print tool, a wax printing tool and maybe a pencake tool. But not 4 different printers adding to my existing farm...

Machines like these needs some additional tools for mixing and packing clay, like resin printers have wash and cure stations

Get a plexiglass tube with the same internal size as your clay extruder tube. Pre pack your clay in the plexiglass tube and when happy push the plug into your extruder tube. If its difficult to push the plug out, consider making the plexiglass in halves so you can open it and there by remove drag. This is what a professional pug machine dose.

The weakness in this is the loading of the clay which can easily lead to impefections of not done well. It would be nice i one could buy the clay sold as cylinders exactly same size as the ejecting catridge.

Very interesting video. I just would wish most manufacturers would offer a 300mm X 300mm X 300mm build volume along with at least a 15 point or more more for self leveling for the bed without having to edit the G & M codes or use Z axis baby steps. I still don't like to layer lines just like filament 3D printers. I do a lot of sample & prototype parts & I have found that 3d printed parts without the exception of resin printers build volume to give the best results. The only draw back for a 3D resin printer is their print volume. I would like to see more 3D resin printers & filament printers with a build volume of 300mm X 300mm X 300mm. And all of the 3D printers should work correctly right out of the box. I don't want to spend precious time fine tuning the printer or slicing software along with the G & M codes. I believe the all filament & resin printers are in their infancy & need to built to higher standards such as using servo motors, linear rails, all metal dual extender's gear drives. Also these 3D printers should never not to produce a perfect, or near perfect, print without having to change the slicer settings, & the G & M codes, as we in the machining world would call it as a part program.

Your wish can come true. Those machines exist. Just spend a bit more money. I recommend the Ultimaker S5 or the Raise 3D E2. Both are not overly expensive but will print day in day out with ease.
