I had a ps4 for a long time and my dad didn’t really care but after seeing mario odyssey, his love for games rekindled. I really hope mario lives for a long time despite new generation of gamers having a complete different taste in games. And Botw is pretty much my dream open world game come true.

NukNukBRUH took me about 16 hours or so for the main story, and that’s just straight up story, no exploring the worlds. You can put hundreds of hours easily into this

As someone who played last time something from Nintendo in 90s and brought switch the Botw is kinda boring and irritating at same time, tutorial rlly suck. I dunno Animal Crossing is good but it feels like I wasted money on this console.

I just got it, a bit late but it’s also my first Mario game that I own. I love how the motion control feels, very smooth and easy to understand but still challenging. It’s pure happiness and joy and there’s so much to explore.

Man, a bunch of salty people in the comments who either hasn't played it or are just mad because the game was in their mind overhyped.
This game is a joyride and deserves praise for the amount of creativity and stuff to do in it.
Does it have a few flaws?
Sure, but so does any game.
Alexander Chilton that may be true, but to be honest: The game doesn't get to me. Watched like 6 hours of gameplay, and played it for some hours with a friend, to confirm if I should or should not buy a Switch alongside the game. And I have to say: I ended up not buying either. It's all cool, if others enjoy the game, and I also wouldn't say I hated it while playing. But just not hating it doesn't sell a game, or for that matter even a console (in this case with the possibility of an handheld) to me.
I bought the Wii U for Mario 3D World, and I have no regrets about that purchase. 3D World is more linear, can't disagree on that, but the gameplay and soundtrack just got to me. One of the biggest issues so far with Odyssee to me is the soundtrack. There are parts in the game, that just don't have any, and the parts which have just don't sound like Mario to me, if you know what I mean. And yeah, I know, that's absolutely subjective, which is why I said it's cool, if others enjoy it, but I don't.
Another thing that put me really off was that T-Rex. Why isn't it just Yoshi, and why is it so clunky?
That being said: Enjoy the game as much as you can, I don't mean to make it look bad for everyone, I just share my views, have fun!

Fair enough, I have always enjoyed the bigger sandbox Marios ala 64 and Sunshine more. The only exception to that is Galaxy being my favorite Mario (or tied now with Odyssey).
Odyssey has some amazing songs/worlds down the line, so I think you are missing out, but of cause it is all subjective.
Alexander Chilton Ah well, if I ever feel like I'm missing out, I'm sure there will be a game at some point, which feels worthy to buy a Switch, and buying Odyssee isn't that far off at that point, I guess.
So far there aren't any tho, Nintendo is a bit slow with it, as they were with the Wii U aswell. Lucky that I mostly play on my PC, so I won't run out of options that quickly ^^
Maybe I'll get more into it by watching more of the gameplay, but for now it's not worth like 400 bucks to me^^

Hailey Chapman I bought it because of some let's play of 3D World, where the first episode already was amazing, and got it with Mario Maker and Rayman Legends for the normal prize of the console alone. So.. yeah, 3D World settled the purchase, the other games ontop of an Amiibo were pretty much a bonus
This might possibly be one of the best games I’ve played on the Nintendo Switch. Its 3D/open world style is amazing and adds a more immersive experience. Each Kingdom is so well designed and a lot of fun. I would %100 recommended this game to all types of gamers and I encourage you to buy it.

There are only like, 4 flaws with this game
1: Mario feels a bit slower, good to control just doesn't feel as fast as I would like him to, and the motion controls are a bit unnecessary. (They're mostly optional though.)
2: There are way to many moons, for worlds that aren't 100% fleshed out. (If they cut off like, 200 moons for a more fleshed out, and slightly more challenging experience, then it would be a lot better IMO. Like expanding on the Cloud, and Ruined kingdom to make the absurd amount of moons justified. Its only going to bother a few people though.)
3: The music is really good, but there are parts where its cut off, and for some strange reason, and it stays like that. I get it on maybe the first mission for atmosphere, but it kind of sucks not hearing the awesome soundtrack. (The Post-game attempts to solve this problem by giving you the option to listen to any music you want, anywhere in the game, but it resets after every death or cutscene. What the heck.)
4:The Broodals are cool, but fights are repeated way to often.
That's really it. And, if you think about it, only like 2 of these are actual problems, and the other 2 are very niche/nitpicky. Nearly a flawless game. If Mario 64 deserves a 10/10, then this game diserves a 25/10.

Yeah, you need 400 seeds to upgrade, but see, you don't HAVE TO upgrade it in breath of the wild. you don't even have to "do" anything but the Great Plateau and the final boss. In Mario odyssey, you have to get at least 125 moons to go to the final boss, but to get every LEVEL you must get 500 moons. A lot more than Breath of the Wilds korok seeds
Gamesforus all they did was up the scale of Mario 64. The maps are much bigger and in my mind it makes sense. It's just like a collectable thing, you don't have to get all the moon's and either way if you want to it makes the game longer. I always wanted more stars in 64 cus I ended it so quickly.

For players who want to use the joycon grip or hand held mode, most of the time the motion controls are really just optional. The only time I found myself needing to use the motion controls was when I was climbing poles because shaking the controller is the only way to climb faster. Other than that though, I played most of the main game hand held without any issues. Some of the stuff after the main game kind of requires the motion controls a bit more, like when you’ve got to roll really fast to get particular moons.
Before you buy... nothing just buy 10/10

When I first played Odyssey I thought it kinda felt like Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy had a big threesome and this was the result which happened to make a really good game

When I watch a new marvel movie that I'm excited about, I go and look up Tyrone Magnus to see if he's done a reaction yet, because I want to see what other people's reactions are to the things that i'm excited about. And that's what he's doing here. Playing the new game that he loves and is excited about, while also watching video reviews from people who also love and are excited about it.
Absolutely loving this game! The only "problem" I have with it is that when I want to put it down to do silly things like sleep, I see that next thing I want to do. :)

I loved Super Mario Oddesty, it gave me Super Mario Galaxy vibes and I appreciate it, but I did have my issues with the game.
1# It was a little too short, while it had it's great moments I sadly beat in within five days while other games can take me weeks, months or even a year or two to beat.
2# The bosses are just decent, I enjoyed fighting the broodals the first few times, but then got bored of them.
3# In SMG you have to travel to new awesome Galaxies! But in Odyssey you just went back to the same places going through the same areas over and over again looking for moons with hardly anything new and challenging.
The Dragon and Dinosaur was awesome though.

Imho, Mario Odyssey felt a LOT like a super roided out Banjo Kazooie game.
Just constantly running around, finding moons for things both super easy, and super complex. It reminds me of the jiggies, and the worlds in Banjo Tooie the most.
The only complaints I had were mostly aesthetic. *spoiler* like the lack of Luigi ..... *end* or the fact that there aren't powerup mushrooms, at all. They could have just model swapped with the Hearts to include Red and Green mushrooms, but that's mostly just a personal want than a necessity.

You can replicate most motion controlled actions through button combos.
You can extend higher with an Uproot by holding B until fully extended, then hold Y as well.
You can throw Cappy downward by ground pounding then immediately press Y.
You can attack with Cheep Cheeps by spinning then pressing Y.
And you can also hold Y to climb faster.
I’ve been playing Odyssey since release and it has become one of the most mind-numbingly easy games I’ve ever played. When I play this game and go to a new world I think to myself “maybe this one is where the challenge comes in” and it never does. Once I got to the end, collecting moons felt like punching another Minecraft tree to death.
that’s because you went for all of the easy moons. all it takes is a bit of exploration to find the challenging ones

I bought the game the day it came out, and I'm having an absolute blast! I completely agree with the motion control issues as well, I bought this because I don't always have time for a generic console. I love being able to take it on the go, and they don't work well handheld, but still, game of the year if you ask me

This is my first 3D Mario game and i was completely shocked with how much fun i had with this game and how happy i felt playing it.
Thinking about getting a Switch this weekend and man I’ve watched so many odyssey reviews to see if it’s worth it lol

This never really needed a before you buy video. It’s a must buy for the Switch.

Many people hate and say Mario is a kid franchise and what not, but many of us were playing these games before any of these people hating were even born. We would play on systems like the GameCube, N64, and so on. The franchise was and still is one the Nintendo’s most noticed and strong franchises to date.
