Yeah, I just played Mario Kart 8 deluxe with my favorite cousin a few days ago (he didn't own Mario Kart 8 deluxe so it was his first time) and Mario Kart is WAY better when you play with friends.

Except in both cases, being good at games gives you a better chance to win, but not guaranteed. The Mario Kart series has sucked since for the longest time as there's a possibility you can lose due to lucky bs and being better at the game and leading the pack you're put at a severe disadvantage.
Nintendo really needs to copy the Modnation Racers formula because in Modnation Racers case, the graphics just look stupid and you lose all the will to play, but weapon pick ups aren't random and getting three of them like other past kart racing games powered them up. The boost meter allows you to use turbo or have a shield come up and protect you from any attacks that might come up to you(you have to hold the button down to use the shield and it takes boost energy.) When it comes to gameplay, Modnation Racers is better, but there are also many other games as well. Wipeout Omega Collection HD/Fury/2048 is coming to the PS4, collection of some of the best racers ever. Nintendo needs to release a new F Zero.

crazygmr but I don't like call of duty. People are entitled to their own opinions and these people are also not slaves to nintendo. I love MarioKart 8 and sure they made a bad battle mode, but remaking the same game for the next console is *way* to soon. This game could have been great if it wasn't MarioKart 8, but let's think for a sec here. Let's say MarioKart 8 DX is awesome and sells 2× as much as the original version, the game has so much more potential that can make it the greatest MarioKart ever. A simple remake is not the way to go, instead of that, it should have been a mariokart that can be loved by all fans like, adding missions back, adding characters that deserve to be in a racing game, add a double kart mode that uses the duel item slots, more tracks to race on, returning items like the chain chomp or special items that are character specific. Basically the MarioKart of BoTW.
People are saying this because it's not common for Nintendo to do this. Despite all the hate they get, the gaming community generally has a higher respect that Nintendo will juice out more original sequels, as opposed to porting the same game again and again.

The driving asset as standard is a good idea. Kids wouldn't know how to put it on! Where as adults/gamers will know how to turn it off

The problem is that if you are competent enough in the game it takes a bit before you notice that it is on helping you and that you aren't just doing well. I guess that is a testament to the system as it is well made enough to feel natural while playing. However this makes it difficult to tell you have an assist on unless you did your research to find out that it is a default setting in game.

Still think Wii and DS are top two. Just the fact that you get all characters off the bat is a bit much. I used to love the feeling every time I unlocked a new character or kart on Wii but you don't get that anymore

A agree, 100% completing all races and cups, doing mirrored mode , and beating all time trials to get the characters and karts was the best part of the originals, hopefully the next Mario kart brings with back.

You still have to unlock the carts, wheels and gliders, i totally agree that unlocking characters is better, but at least it's something!
When I bought this, the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that you don't have to grind for the courses, it's all available from the start and that was the part I was looking forward to the most

I actually think the Switch adds a lot to the package overall. That extra travle and versitility in situations in which you can play adds a lot and makes local multiplayer a lot easier to set up. Took mine to work the past few days and have spent more than a little time playing in the back office with coworkers and managers. And while I love the updates to battle mode (even teally like the Cops and Robbers mode with friends) and the extra item boxes, the biggest upgrade is the platform and the perks it gives in terms of playing with friends.

I found renegade roundup to be incredibly fun even in single player. With local wireless and 12 players I could see it being one of the most fun things to do in the game.
I have a serious hate love relationship with this game, it puts a lot of emphasis on skill but i find that waaay to often you can be in first the ENTIRE race then one thing hits you and all hell breaks lose and suddenly you drop 8 places in seconds, this pisses me off immensly but its not a bad game over all so i keep going back to it in hopes i wont have to stop to prevent myself from breaking something.

Exactly what he means by "it's better with your friends". It's always fun to get your friend with a blue shell...but when the AI f's you over...not fun. The blue shell should be removed from the game or have an option to turn off.
It's not completely about being first but being as far from your opponets as you can be too! :D

the last mario cart i played was on the wii and one thing i liked about it was that you could unlock characters by doing certain things.

Andrew Winters Mario Kart Wii was my favorite. It was the last Mario Kart i played before making a decision to either buy a Wii U or Switch. The Switch is new and more portable, the $400 was cringy. I was hoping they would allow back-compat Wii games like Mario Kart or Super Mario Galaxy

I have it for the Wii U and and have been playing since the very first one, I even still have my copy for the 64. I think the ability to upgrade your cars as you collect your coins to keep you going rather than just giving you the car all at once is a cool idea, I really like that.
Coming from Mario Kart Wii it was definitely an excellent installment. The graphics both in tv and tabletop mode, the variety of characters and customization options, the new and improved battle mode with a new game mode to try, the music is SO BEAUTIFUL and online play is awesome despite me being destroyed quite often. Of course it does have some faults such as a graphics decrease and frame rate drop for 3-4 players but that was to be expected and of course the lack of challenges besides the Grand Prix Cups (don't even get me started on 200cc) and unlocking all the vehicle parts. Definitely worth it for both new and veteran Mario Kart players.
Am I the only one who wishes these videos would come out before you actually buy the game..

I used to have a nitendo DS years ago when I was like 9 and when you mentioned balloon battle, my heart man. Mario kart was such a fun game to play at night while eating a bucket of ice cream without my parents knowing.
I remember playing Mario Kart Double Dash with my family when I was younger, now I just play MK7... alone...
I absolutely love trying to get all the gold cups in all cc modes and trying to get all vehicle customizations.

I loved every second of it, and it's still a fun time to this day.
Seeing the double item boxes make a comeback from _Double Dash_ is exciting, and as I've been working to complete all the games I have for my Wii U so I don't have to feel bad when I trade it out and finally get a switch, I'm extremely satisfied with MK 8.
It's a fun time all around, and I'm absolutely in love with the graphics and the Animal Crossing dlc :0

Mario kart on the GBA was one of my first experiences with Mario kart, and sticks with me, even today.
My first Mari kart was the DS one.... Fell in love with the 8th one when I played my cousins one
the last Mario Kart i played was the DS one so you bet i’m getting that once i get my hands on the switch lite
i got the game for the switch and I love it. its fun and I like to play online. this is a fun and addicting game. I like this version better than the wiiu. the battle modes they redid it from the wiiu version. battle mode is way better on the switch since they brought back little bit of the old school mix with some new.

Double dash was incredible. Playing co-op with my brother in the campaign was the most amazing game experience.
Double Dash is good, but nothing beats Mario Kart 7. Maybe it's also cause I have a small bias and appreciate all the Mario Kart 64 content it has to offer, alongside the result screen music, but the remastered retro course music sounds miles better than the remixed music to me.
It's truly a solid entry and the last one to feel classic as well. Though, I guess they did add the gliding and underwater mechanics, so maybe Mario Kart Wii still holds the title of "most classic" Mario Kart.

I started on MKDD back in 2009, then on to MKDS in 2011, then to MKWii in 2014, then to MK7 in 2015, and now at MK8 Deluxe in 2018. I have played the rest on an emulator and have won on the majority of cups.

we had 6 people playing locally on 3 different switches and it felt great being able to do that in 2017. really makes the Switch shine for these moments
my biggest gripe with this game is not having a lobby with friends to do online matchmaking easier
My last Mario kart was mkwii ctgp (hacked). Having the hacked edition is so much fun plus the online services work on the hacked edition

mario kart is great and i appreciate the game itself.
ive always played mario kart wii when i was younger so some things i miss are inside drifting, wheelie feauture, unlocking characters ((the challenge was fun)) and each of the characters having their own stats. there was just something about them that made the game feel more whole imo.
I didn't feel bad getting it a second time cause it it came with my Wii u when I bought it. Gotta say this looks beautiful and the battlemode is definitely the selling feature if you have a switch it's a must buy. Especially since you can play split joy con with anyone anywhere
So far Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a wonderful game. I Runs smooth, the graphics are amazing (with the normal switch and in docked form) and overall the design of the game is fantastic! I look forward to making a review on this game soon, but I need to research more before I go ahead and do so.

Nintendo is greedy and makes bad business choices...don't count on it. The seem to lack the ability to make enough of things they sell. From Amibos, NES Classics(which they discontinued...that's another one), the Switch. They just can't keep up with a demand they know exists.

This is the first Mario Kart game I've ever played in anything more than a passing sense, the auto steering and throttle was kind of a pain to figure out at first since it isn't explained at all but other than that I've been having SO MUCH FUN with this... I'm not even into racing games but this game has just been a ton of fun for both myself and my girlfriend

Reggie has kind of already confirmed a Smash, I don't recall the exact quote but he said something about how they like to have one of their IP's on all their platforms so Smash will be on the Switch eventually. Personally, I hope it's a port with a few new characters/stages.

I've only played the 1st Mario Kart that was on the regular Wii. And it was fun because it was the only source on entertainment at the house... no internet, no Tv shows, nothing. well, except for the Dvi player
Last MK I played was MarioKart Wii, absolutely loved that game. Now I'm getting a Switch and want to get this game for sure, but am really disappointed that all the cups and difficulties are automatically unlocked from the get-go. My favorite memory of playing MK DS back in the day was trying to get all the cups on three stars and unlocking all the characters. Will still be fun to play with friends though.
I had the WiiU MK8 and I got MK8 deluxe...yea a must buy and I recommend joining a discord or something like that and playing tournament mode with tons of people it's a blast.

I own all of the Mario Kart's except Deluxe which I'm planning to buy when I buy a Switch right after Christmas. I bought Mario Kart 8 along with my Wii U right after Christmas in 2014 & I still love the game just as much as when I first bought it! I wasn't originally gonna buy MK8 Deluxe since it's mostly the same as the Wii U version, but I've played it a few times at Target, Walmart, etc & I really like the improvements that were made, especially the new battle modes plus it's playable on the go! I'm gonna buy it with the money I get for Christmas. Can't wait!!!

My friend had Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and we played it on table top mode and it seemed to run really smooth. The only downside was that the controls were a bit weird at first then I got used to them.
I haven't played a Mario Kart game since the DS and I'm watching these reviews for the switch games while considering buying a switch to see if its worth it
I have the wii u version, its great. This doesn't have enough new content to justify paying for it again on switch if you already have it on wii U. If you don't have it on wii U already then this will be tons of fun 🙂

I had it on Wii u until it broke, and I was sad because it was my 2nd favourite Wii u game (smash is my favourite) so we Got a Switch, Saved up to get MK8DX and The best way to describe it is it’s the same game, but it’s not and it’s better, I never got the DLCs so I had 4 extra cups, 16 extra stages and More Vehicle parts, It was great, in other words, I had a lot of fun with it and if you have/had a Wii u lying around, MK8 and a switch, I would definitely get DX still in 2019

I personally don't like it because you can very easily set everyone free and it's virtually impossible to actually defend the holding cells. (This comes from winning every single time I'm on the renegade side)

Haven't owned a Mario Kart game since Mario Kart DS. I'm loving MK8DX. I only wish that it was easier to compare the stats of karts and racers. I know there's a website where you can do it pretty easily, but a side by side comparison in-game would be super convenient
I just got a Switch and this was my very first game I bought for it.
Perviously I'd played the SNES, GBA, N64, and DS versions. I played the Wii version once or twice. I never had a GameCube. N64 had always been my favorite.
The look and feel of this one felt amazing and I loved it (once I turned off smart steering). I tried the motion controls but found I prefer to use the joysticks, might try it again though and am glad to have a choice.
It feels amazing to have the same game on the go or full screen on my TV. For me it was worth full price.
I think it is very similar to other titles, but since I'd not played MK7 or 8, this was very new and fresh for me.
I mainly play it on my own occasionally playing online. I love the amount of content and enjoy working my way out to 200cc.
I wonder though, if this and BoTW (two great games) where also on the WiiU, does this mean that we'll see even better games?

Honestly, considering they have the Double Item mechanic back, they really should just add a mode where two players can be on the same kart.
I think it's time for a new Sonic All Stars Racing game. Transformed in my opinion was far more interesting than Mario Kart and has much more variety. A few more characters, maybe some cosmetics and maps that allow you to choose just one travel type. If it had that I reckon we could have a best kart racing game.

My last Mario Kart game was in fact on the DS. I haven't given Mario Kart much thought since then, but I did love it at the time and played it a lot. Recently picked up Mario Kart 8 to have a multiplayer game to play with my girlfriend once in a while, and I gotta say I was very surprised by this one. Looks great, runs great, and is double the game Mario Kart for DS is. I recommend this game to everyone who likes any type of racing games.
Literally on my way to go buy a switch and Mario kart for my husband and I since this is his favorite game. We’ve been playing the DS version for the longest and I thought u would surprise him with it as a Halloween gift. Plus Mario Odyssey came out and imma get that for me next week lol

its a good game but the thing is i haven't bought a switch yet because i'm waiting for a good game to buy it for. I got BOTW for wii u so its not worth it and everything else just seems like a port or not worth it. Im probably gonna get it once Xenoblade chronicles 2 comes out I would have bought it for MK8D but there just wasn't enough new content to convince me. If they added a minimum of 2 new cups or like 20 new characters then i probably would have gotten it. I'm sure its no too hard to make characters just need to add a model and animate it. Those are just my thoughts though

you should have kept the money from zelda. about a year, Switch will be cheaper, like all consoles. Switch will have some really good games like Splatoon 2, Arms, Mario openworld.

i feel like it made WAY more changes than the avg MK title - obv ignoring MK8 on WiiU - because i hadnt played since double dash/n64 which im sure mannnnny people playing mk8dx are, you're getting new items, like 4x as many courses and racers (!) plus the customization options/unlocking parts and the use of gliders/underwater/anti-grav - plus the courses are the absolute stars of this game...i had a switch for like 3yrs before i finally got this even tho i enjoyed the older titles and i did NOT realize just how much its chagned and i am SO glad i got it, only had it a week and its already in my top 5-10 video games of all time and easily the best kart game and because im not big on sims/racing games in general its easily my fav racing game (tho i do loooove me some Burnout)
Honestly, I thing the game should not be $60. It pretty much is a port with a new mode and a couple of new characters. I'd say lower the price down to $40 and I'm all in for buying it. (I will probably still get it at it's current price though.)

I haven't played MarioKart since SNES. MK8 Deluxe was a no brainer day 1 purchase for me and I couldn't be happier with it! It looks great, plays great, solid formula and a great game for friends and family

Last Mario Kart I played was Mario Kart 7. I'm one of the few people who got a Wii U who didn't get Mario Kart 8. I also ended up getting BOTW on Wii U.
But dang I can't wait to make that graphics jump from 3DS to Switch and see Music Park/Melody Motorway, DK Jungle and Piranha Plant Pipeway in 60FPS HD.
Kids don't want to think about racer assist features and how to activate them, they just want to get straight into the game
