    A quick few things: Enemies in the beginning are Termagants, Genestealers would look much more humanlike. Timewise it is probably during Dark Imperium/Indomitus Crusade, because of the pattern of power armour. The Service Studs are golden, so signify 100 years of service each.

    So if you look back, you'll notice that the Guard are shooting towards their own retreating soldiers before the one with the Vox-caster takes cover. This is why it looks like the shots are going both ways, when in reality there's only one real direction of lasgun fire. It should also be noted that Genestealer Cultists will use any military hardware they can get their hands on, because they are still human; often heavily mutated, but still human. So that's the other explanation; Cultists with lasguns. We don't see any present so we'll just assume that this is a pure Tyranid force and it's just confusing cinematography, but Genestealers would be a valid explanation nonetheless.

      I hadn’t yet considered we may need to deal with GSC.

  • @Tounushi
    @Tounushi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +194

    The problem with trying to figure out the direction of fire with lasguns is that it's a laser beam. Unless you're in orbital combat, you won't see the beam travel between the weapon and its target, you just see a line of light connecting them.
    But yeah, it almost does look like there's lasfire both ways. Maybe a cult supporting the main combat bioforms.
    For once, though, I'd like to see a setting where instead of pew pews or a searing sound, a lasgun sounds like they're described: a crack, as if you're breaking a stick.

    • @RegalChalice
      @RegalChalice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    • @Eurodance_Groove
      @Eurodance_Groove 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Crack sound us the most correct one, in my opinion, because you are literally searing through the planet's air with a superheaten beam of "plasma-like cutter"... And the air particles hit by the laser itself are literally exploding and many chemical and physical violent interactions are taking place the very moment the light beam erupts from the gun, travels in the air and then reaches the target... So...

    Tyranids are a great choice to replace the orcs from part one. A swarm of enemies charging at you brings back the strength of the gamepay loop from the first game - the smooth transition from ranged to melee. I didn't expect to experience another space marine game after ten years. I'm kind of hyped. At the Game Awards Tim Willits was on stage to present the game. He was previously at ID Software (Doom, Quake) and they know how to make games. I'm cautiously optimistic...

After reading Eisenhorn I could see an Inquistor doing everything they can to have a space marine in their entourage.

    • @Catonzo
      @Catonzo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might well be that they are retconning a bit of his story to make Titus a part of the main storyline of WH40k. Originally it was more an alternate universe, but to make him a Primaris means he is more likely to be part of the universe we all know. As we know Cato Sicarius is the Captain of the 2nd Company, not Titus.
      So it might not be a demotion.. but more a rewrite. I find it odd that a Captain would be deployed like that to begin with given their immense value. It makes more sense to me a Lieutenant carrying out an order directly by their Captain.
      Pure speculation on my part though and we will see what happens..

    The Tyrannids that's attacking this planet is Hive fleet leviathan, one of the largest and most recent Hive fleet that's threatening the Imperium.
    The red stripe on his helmet means Titus is now demoted to lieutenant and is crossed the Rubicon Primaris and is now a Primaris space marine
    The guardsmen in this are cadians

    • @reasonableastartes
      @reasonableastartes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It would be cool if they were Cadian, and they're definitely using Cadian pattern kit, but is there something in the trailer that positively identifies them as a Cadian unit (like a unit insignia)? As the "standard bearers" of the Imperial Guard, a lot of units copy their look and equipment.
      I ask mainly because the Primaris armor puts this at least in the Dark Imperium period, and the 'nids being from Leviathan means this is almost certainly either Segmentum Tempestus or Ultima. Those are both on the other side of the galaxy from Cadia, which by this time will have fallen *after* recalling most of its regiments to defend the Cadian Gate.

    If this is in the age of Guilliman's return, maybe Titus was released on his personal orders. Being as logical and administrative as he is, he wouldn't let a warp resistant and possibly immune warrior, especially of his own gene seed, remain locked up under what appear to be false charges.
    Also, I really hope they increase the scale of this game by 10000x over the last one. Seeing it even be open world or semi-open world would be kind of cool. Imagine travelling across a whole world under siege by Tyrannid invasion; gathering Imperial Guard units, reuniting divided Astartes, capturing and securing strongholds and bases, rescuing nobles and administrators, etc...
    Or, going off the resource-short theory you put forward, maybe we're in a cut off part of space, using our authority as a captain or possibly even higher-ranking member of an Ultramarine chapter to take command of a whole small region of space as we fight to maintain control and reconnect to the Imperium at large.

    1:18 totally right, all they need to do is just update some of the animations, add in the new primaris weapon models, new levels and it will actually be a hit; its stupid how easy of a layup of a game this could be. And the benefit to a game like this is if you nail designing the bones, you can add in untold new scenarios where you play as other marines during other cool stories. Like think of how cool it would be to play as dante during the devastation of baal, or you could even add in librarian powers into the mix for expansions. If they just port the og game over with new graphics this could be such a good game.

    i think the Hormagaunts taking a step back was meant to be a first hint that it was Titus - as he is a blank his which not only borderline immune to the warp and other psychic effects but also gives off aura of very low level psychic disruption. This seemingly confused them for a second as normally such low ranking Tyranids don't even have much of a brain as its a waste of resources and are linked by the hivemind to warriors that can give orders mentally to them, the Warrior also seemed surprised that they stopped and was forced to vocally drive them to attack. On the tabletop Tyranids had a rule that if certain unit was out of the range of a commanding/hivemind node creature like a warrior they had to make a roll to see if they would move or attack by instinct e.g forced to move to or attack nearest foe or waste a turn looking around.

    Well one major change I see is that "Captain Titus" is now "Lieutenant Titus" with the shoulder skull and the red and white helmet stripes, its a symbol of that rank for the Ultramarines. Also the marines he's with, the one with the Red helmet is a Sergeant and the other, you can see on his knee a red ring painted there, which is the symbol for a veteran. Could be Leandros and Sidonis he's with. Also if you can see what's hanging from that chain on Titus' arm it looks like an Inquisition icon, so it looks like he might be helping them with something.

    @Mugthraka 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its nice to see how accurate your knowledge of 40k lore has become over the past year/2 years.
    -Just to point out,
    -The Nids you see first in the trailer are Gaunts, the Gaunts are the most common infantry unit in an hive fleet, wich exists in a few variants, but the 2 main variants are Hormagaunts, that are specialised in Mass Melee assaults, with 2 pairs of Scything claws( long sword/scyth like claws) and the Termagaunts, who are all equipped with ranged Bio-weapons, that spits acidic needles or high velocity parasites that burrows into the victimes flesh and releases toxins or explodes.
    -It is theorised that after been taken away by the Inquisition, Titus passed all their tests, then either Joined the Deathwatch or fought along side the Black Templars( since the Inquisitors that picked him up was accompanied by Black Templars).
    -Those 2 things can be explained by the chain wrapped around his vambrace, wich is usually a Black Templars tradition, that he would have picked up as a sign of respect, and his time in the deathwatch could be explained by his combat knowledge vs Tyranids.
    Its kinda hinted at the way he disposes off the Tyranid Warrior, by first puncturing his chest and then ripping his head off.
    Tyranid Warriors acts as Hive mind Nodes or relays, wich allows for the Hive mind to have better control of the grunts lifeforms through Warriors and more advanced Lifeforms.
    Warriors are still relatively small compared to other larger organisms, so they have 2 Nodules, one at the back of their Neck and one in their chest, a bit like the Nerf ganglions of a cockroach.
    So him disposing of bothn shows that he has a better knowledge of the Xenos physiology, thus the Theory that he spent some time in the Deathwatch is very likely, even tho he doesn't have a Deathwatch shoulderpad in the trailer( Marines that served in the deathwatch CAN show it by sporting the DW shoulder pad, but its not a requirement)
    -When Roboute Guilliman revived, he made some more changes to the Codex Astartes, he brough back the Lieutenant position, wich din't exist anymore after the Horus Heresy, and divided Companies into -Demi Companies, so that they would be easier to command and move around as a neccesity for rapid response during the Indomitus Crusade and the whole Dark Imperium thing.
    So while Titus was retrograded from Captain to Lieutenant, he is a Primaris Lieutenant( he has gone through the procedure to become a Primaris Marine) of the 2nd Co, so its not much of a retro-gradation, but more like a side promotion?
    -The IG shows that he has a purple Hue in his eyes, wich shows that he is a Native Cadian, or at least a direct descendant of a Cadian( people on Cadia had their eyes purple due to the influence of the Eye of Terror)

    Well, this is a surprise indeed. Seeing Saber Interactive shows promise (I remember their Time Shift game, it was pretty good yet underrated shooter).
    I think I read somewhere how the Space Marine would have been part of Trilogy (first we know, second would be Titus escaping his custody and getting back home and third would be him becoming a chapter master). As always, we should wait and see. Who knows, maybe that plan is still valid.
    As for the enemies, if there are Tyranids, there will probably be Genestealer cults too (they would be packing stolen imperial firepower). Someone already pointed out the Terma/Hormagaunts so I'll leave it at that. Edit to add: the ''hand-me-down'' aspect was present even during the Great Crusade (in one Horus Heresy book when some characters go back in time, and Ollanius Pius (their leader) instructs others to take the fallens' weapons, for they arrived at a point where those were almost brand-new conditionwise than what they already had).

    As in servantor drones with heavey bolters, heavey laz guns, ect, on jet ships, flying over the infected area. With the drones programmed to shoot anything alive and moving that doesn't look human, or working for the Imperium.
    Like facial recognition software, programmed into the servantures gun ships.
    Yes, this probably won't work for enslaved humans of the zenos, but it should still, make a significant difference.
    As in, if your drone is powered by advanced nuclear fusion engines, that's also feeding the heavey lazer gun turrets, like a 40k version of the current US navy lazer weapon system (not lazer guided, but an actual lazer weapon they have now), you don't need vast amounts of ammunition.

      In wh 40k lore the humans don't use drones due to the civil war occurred many thousands years before the Horus Heresy, which saw humankind almost extinct by the war against sentient robots... Today the humankind uses only cyborg and/or cyborg drones such as cherubins or servitors of the Admech branch of the Imperium... Only Tau'n and Eldars uses fully automated drones... And, to be more precise too, Eldar drones are not fully automated since they are driven by spirit stones of ancient eldars and also eldar farseers that are demamded to guide such "imperfect drones" into battle. Or the Necrons... Also have "drones"... Even if they are guided by some sort of "mechanical magic" mixed with Necrontyr tech and pacts with the "Ctan old ones"... Only Necron Scarabs, maybe, are fully sentient and automated drones. The normal Necron "troopman" is a devoid and soulless automaton that slowly walks into battle, driven only by Necron Magic or Necron tech, as stated above...

    Genestealer cults include semi Tyranid Humans which use Lasguns and other weapons like autoguns... (Caseless Ammo Assault rifles) Could be some Genestealer Mutants with rifles in the ruins!
