I always love your Ideas. I constructed a coroplast boat from looking at your first one (the white one with yellow cover). Holds well; even after a couple of years, its still going strong. I did make a few adjustments though to plan for longevity. I used two pieces of coroplast for the hull. this effectively gave me a "double hull" boat so if I hit a rock, or just beach the boat... no problem. as an extra added bonus, I truly tested the capabilities of this boat by not only putting me in it (220 lbs on a good day), but also three gallons of gas and a 1966 Johnson JW21E 3 hp engine (all aluminum 30 lbs engine, fully restored by yours truly), and lets not forget the fishing gear! In all about 300 lbs of weight in a 22 lbs boat. Pretty good if you ask me and the boat also maintained a 7 inch draft (part that's underwater). The two cylinder engine almost brought the boat to plane with all of the weight... but not quite. Never tested it without gear and gas, it probably will plane.
All in all, I am happy; and a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work! But I truly do wish I had more time (and money) to experiment with this a little more, because I have so many ideas and they're just waiting to be released (any inventor/maker of "things" would relate to this...
Emphasis on the money part though ;)

I used to watch a TH-cam botany channel that was just hilarious-- you know, because botany is such a funny subject. The channel is Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't . I loved the humor, style and of course the botany lessons as this guy travels around describing plants and his adventures. I would be curious what a REAL botanist thinks of his channel.
Best of luck to you on YOURS.

I enjoy all of your designs, but I like the boats the best. Coroplast is neat, you don't have to paint or waterproof it and it is so low cost and easy to work with.
I would enjoy seeing you combine your shelter idea's with your boats and make a minimalist mini houseboat.

I built one like that when I was stationed at Howard AFB, Canal Zone, Panama. The only difference, mine was an open plan to fish from. My family ate a lot of Peacock bass while I owned that boat. But, I used a trolling motor since I’d be on lakes and never a long way to shore. My plans came from the “Popular Mechanics Encyclopedia”. Oh, I used plywood for durability.

Sorry for the multiple posts, What are the over all dimensions of that Lucy Lu Boat? Length x width x height? in inches preferably.
I know you are restricted by a one sheet tub style design, I was thinking about your raised outboard, and lowering it back down fixing the outboard, and directing a rudder or dual rudder behind the prop blast for steering.

i want the trolling motor to quickly change between Boats,
I am also thinking of another boat, like a Kayak style lower section with a traditional Boat Hull Corrugated Plastic Top, sides and Bottom, like your Lucy Lu Boat, made 4" to 6" plus or minus, thick floor horizontal foam sheeting and vertical foam sheeting for the sides maybe 4" +/- thick, mostly of the foam insulation as the main Flotation for the hull, with either a Corrugated outer/upper hull for looks and hull bottom of hull for a smooth durable hull floor protecting the flotation foam, maybe a Plywood floor may be in order as I can use it as a skeleton to mount easily to it and it would be the spine. this style boat may make a front drive, much easier, meaning a Trolling motor between the legs enough forward to make steering comfortable, legs wrap around trolling motor, battery in back.
I like model Boat construction methods, using Interlocking Plywood pieces, as it uses a lot less wood and weight, but provides a Much Much Stronger Hull!!!! another thought is the 2" wide insulation Foam, vertical side by side pieces across the hulls floor what ever height you are looking for, 6" maybe, this will help provide a Very Stiff durable Boat w/interlocking ply Bottom under that for the hull floor. Each 4' x 8' sheet of Foam is 5.4-lbs so it is Light and durable.

I like your little boat. It looks like a ton of fun. I love your captain's hat. What did Mr. Jerk say after you said, "No."?

He said I was trespassing. I've looked now for over an hour on the internet to clarify his claim but found nothing. It might be true, but really... Would a crook pull up in daylight in an ultra light boat with a loud motor wearing a captains hat?

I know people can buy land down to the water, but is it really possible to buy a chunk of lake? What do I know? I live in a desert. Keep having fun on the water, Paul.

Hi Pal. Can the coro speedboat be made with wood?

I don't see why not. It might be difficult making the transition from bottom to bow. You could use 1/4" or 3-4mm thick paneling similar to my other electric wood boats to make the gradual transition bend.

I like this boat style and building materials, But i was thinking a 45 lb thrust MinnKota trolling motor, it is almost 3 h.p. But you say you almost sank the boat, can you explain? if it was due to the raised outboard, what about lowering the tannaka outboard back down and just raising the v-bar by adding some verticle extenders at the V-bar tips, as that would keep the COG down lower and keep the rocking yaw /tilting down lower. Another question, the Corrugated Plastic has flutes, have you tried to seal the tops all the way around the top edge trapping the air in the channels/ and second, Have you seen the 2" wide Insulating Foam at Home depot, called R-Tech Insulfoam, 2" thick x 4' x 8' weight per sheet 5.4# and is $20.00 one sheet could go double thick on a boat that small, but maybe single thick is all that is needed, If you took 3/8" Plywood Floor with 2" foam Insulation, (or it could be double thickness) glued to the ply bottom, then use your Corrugated plastic surround tub folded up origami style, around everything, covering the whole lower section, to make it water tight, like you did on your Lucy Lu boat, except you would have either 2" to 4" thick foam = trapped air sealed in the corrugated plastic, either tape or seal the corrugated plastic holes so that they hold Air, Heaviest part of the boat would be the Lowest part, the foam would add a lot of Bouncy and the foam would be your seat, maybe a foam/ply 1/4" ply may work for seat back seat back with foam glue to it. I dont think you would add a lot of weight, but it would add a lot of bouncy. to bad you dont have a BLOG to have boat building and tips & techniques, for combine brain storming, that would be excellent.

Many ways to build a boat Gary. This is one way, and due to the 4x8 sheet limitation it can only carry so much weight. Water came close to breaching the edge when I leaned way back to fidget with the motor.

I have been looking at ways to bond/seal multiple sheets of polypropylene corrugated, looks like, both can be glued together with good super glue, and Hot melt glue both work and seal, a layer of glass cloth on the seal using these adhesives may be the ticket, I would start by making a center tub for you to ride in, make the tub narrower than your boat so you can get a higher side wall and get the height you want, 12" +++ or so, then mount that to a Ply wood lower floor section the entire width and length of the Boat, between the tub and the outer two sheet hull supporting them both, then i would like to have a boat about 40"- 45" + or so wide, I would overlap a center section full width of the floor, with a piece inside and out of boat sandwiched, two chances to seal, that way the extra width is for stability, the inner tub to have some bouncy and keep you dry, the space in between the inner tub and outer wall i would fill in the side walls with the Foam Insulation, it is ridge and tough, and been thinking maybe a Foam insulation floor inside the boat 2" thick and a second Foam floor under the boat (or just do 4" thick inside the Boat floor) for 4" thick total in the floor not including the sides, (I would like to take all the foam I plan on using in the Boat before it is installed lay it all on top of each other on top of pool water and sit on it to see how well it floats under my weight only test) for more flotation, shape it as needed, I am thinking maybe 2"-4" wide on each side outside the tub but inside the outer hull, the full length of boat, this would add a lot of rigidity to the boat. there should be enough foam to keep the boat afloat in a situation so that you dont loose the boat if something were to happen, it should work I Like Quiet, i would like to put a Minn Kota 55 lb thrust Endura Maxx trolling motor 3.67h.p. and a deep charge marine battery setup.
I was thinking either a front drive, as it would handle great and steering would be tiller steering, but will probably go rear drive, to take the complexity out of it.. I figure the all up weight would be just under 300# total with me in it. I have built a lot of boat and airplane models
