When my Parents lived in a nursing home, I would go shopping for birthday and anniversary cards for our whole family for the whole year. Then I would address them and put stamps on them and then give them to my parents in a plastic file envelope separated by the months. So my parents could look in the January month, pull out all the anniversary cards and birthday cards for that month and sign them and mail them.

I received a phone call from my adult daughter's phone. It was a man's voice I didn't recognize. He said he found her phone in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby. I told him I would get ahold of her bf so if he wanted to leave it with the front desk of Hobby Lobby that would be good. He said its in a case with credit cards. He didn't want to just leave it with an employee. That was so nice but also funny. My thought bubble was "you mean leaving it with a stranger like yourself 😂".
Anyway, she was with a friend and her friend started calling my daughter's phone. They knew really fast that it was missing. This awesome gentleman answered and went inside the store to give it too her. We are so Thankful to this caring man ❤️.

My love language is "acts of service." My husband's is "words of affirmation." We spent the first 20 years of our marriage speaking our own language to each other...waste of time. We had a good marriage, but our "love tanks" just weren't full. When we realized what our love languages were, we began to speak each others' language. TODAY is our 45th wedding anniversary, and yes, it has made a big difference.

@GodCan so do you have a few ideas for both love languages? My hubby and I are the exact love languages and still struggle, after 16 years, to fulfill the other. I always give something practical to show my love and respect of staying under budget. I'm not good at giving compliments so it's hard because he is definitely a words of affirmation man. Ugh. Please help and give me hope. ❤️

This is so true. My husband calls me "Shorty" and "Pretty" as my nicknames, just to fill my words of affirmation love tank. 🤣 He knows well that I have always hated being tall (I'm not particularly tall now, just 5' 8", but I have been this tall since I was ELEVEN, and that was NO FUN) so he plays on the fact that he is barely an inch taller than me but that is enough to make me happy. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sometimes love can be simple.

That's exactly what I get stacks and stacks of for Xmas! Love and use most of the cozy socks. I keep the fave blankets/throws and donate the rest to our local warming center. This center has kept ppl from actually freezing to death around here in winter. Please consider donating any extra blankets, throws, pillows, warm clothing to a shelter or warming center. Goodwill only donates 10% toward helping ppl BTW. One more lovely way u can spread Xmas cheer is to encourage your church to allow these warming center organizations to use the church facilities to provide a non-freezing space to help save lives. A simple way to help is to offer warm socks, gloves or hats to the 'street' ppl. I even carry ziplock bags of small kibble dog food for those with dogs.

One of the best gifts we've given in recent years was a wifi enabled picture frame to all our parents. We can send all the grandkid pictures to all the grandparents through an app and it uploads it directly to the frame. Not only do they not have to think about it and get constant updates, but we've also tried to stop posting pictures of our kids to social media so it keeps them in the loop while respecting that boundary.

I lost my wallet about 10 years ago a few days before a huge move from one continent to another. Money, ID's, all in there. It must have fallen out of my purse while placing a few bags unto my passenger seat of my car. I had not even noticed the loss until the police called me a few hours later and notified me. I picked up my wallet the same afternoon (it was a Saturday). So grateful, to GOD, to this wonderful person, who turned in this wallet that afternoon and saved me a lot of hassle. Also, I am grateful to the both of you for not only another great video, but also to remind me again. Maybe this honest person is in need of serious prayers right now.

I left my phone & small wallet in the cart (at Meijer Stores) about a year ago.. I was in a hurry and forgot the wallet and the phone. Someone turned both items in, and there was $100 in the wallet and all my cards too.
So, yes, there are good people out there!!!
So, here's a tip for those of you that MIGHT NOT get your wallet back :
Each year, take your all your cards (store, credit, insurance, ID etc. and your Driver's License) Put ALL the CARDS face DOWN in a printer and THEN print on BOTH sides.
Store the paper in a safe place because IF you EVER have to REPLACE all your cards, etc. could YOU REMEMBER all those card numbers? Most likely not!
I've been printing a copy of my cards (front & back) at least once per year for quite a few years. Many years ago I lost my entire at an ER when my husband was seriously ill. Someone stole my purse & a pair of Nike Tennis shoes we had purchased the day before for my husband. After that was when I started printing ALL the cards in my wallet at least ONCE per year!

I don't necessarily want to watch my husband wash the dishes while I rest, but leaving home with a sink full of dishes and coming home to an empty sink is my heaven! I have two very special gifts I received for Christmas from my son who is an artist. My son lives about two hours away. He has panic and anxiety disorder and hasn’t been back here in over 21 years. He has never been to my “new” house I bought in 1998 and but as a special gift he did a beautiful painting of my house. He had his brother taking reference photos while I was at work. It made me cry when he presented it to me that Christmas at his house. Also, two years ago our Corgi, Buddy, passed away. It was such a sad summer and at Christmas he gave me a gorgeous pastel portrait of Buddy. These are gifts from the heart that will always be treasured and remembered.

This was great! MY love language is definitely quality time! As far as gifts for older people...my aunt was VERY practical and didn't want a bunch of things to take care of. She suggested to her kids (who are all gift-givers) that they did not have to give her anything. But...if they were going to, please give her practical things she could really use. She gave them a very specific list of things, including brands and fragrances, she used (like laundry detergent, toilet paper, individual fruit cups, single serving cans of veggies, stamps). I think it was her happiest Christmas when she got what she REALLY wanted!!
I also am very practical and really only want the things I will actually use. So my husband and I did something strange and fun! We set a dollar amount, then we went shopping for ourselves, came home and wrapped the presents, but put each other's names on them. Then I opened all the presents he had bought (for himself) and he opened mine. We were totally surprised at what we opened, and it was fun, and yet we each got what we actually wanted! It was strange, but one of the most fun Christmas gift exchange that I've ever had!

My love languages are words of affirmation and quality time. I appreciate when friends and family take time out of their busy lives to just sit down and spend time with me, speaking life into my soul as to why I am valued...while we chat over a cup of coffee (even if it is simply over Skype nowadays). It conveys the message "you are loved, you are worthy, you are precious" and although it is not a material gift, for me it is a treasure of time well spent and I thrive on it for days and even weeks afterwards.

Yes there still are many many many wonderful caring people out there in the world. When I was a young teen on vacation with my family, I had inadvertently left my pocketbook behind at a local theater. I didn't realize it until it was too late to retrieve it. The theater was closed the next day and we were headed home. We called the theater and left a message. I told them they could use the money in my pocketbook to mail it back to me and if there was any money left they could keep it as a reward. A few days later I got my pocketbook in the mail with not a penny missing. What a great lesson to teach a young woman. Through the years, I have had both good and bad experiences with people. The unfortunate happenings just made me appreciate the positive ones all the more. Bless all the kind people in the world. They are surely a gift to all of us. 🙏💕

I know both kinds of people... those that love just a little gift that shows them they are loved and then those who would rather hear how much they are loved and appreciated. If I get a gift just because, I do appreciate it. And that happens more often. People telling me they appreciate me and all that I do for them... doesn’t happen as often. I like to do things in appreciation. I don’t ask for anything back in return. I want friends and family to know that I care and try to help with cleaning or bringing them something they might need. Just out of the kindness of my heart. If I see that someone has changed their demeanor and becomes selfish, I step back. Your gift ideas are awesome. Many of us have limited funds this year. In any case, we have a cookie bake in early December and people get cookies. I have been cleaning houses for years... so now I know their favorites. It brings a smile to their faces and they always know they are coming. Great video today girls!

Last year I made art notebooks for the kids out of 3-ring binders in their favorite color. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. I included a pencil pouch with fun pencils & markers, stencils, copy paper, graph paper (great for drawing Minecraft & designs) & stickers. They like drawing their own trading cards so I cut blank ones out of cardstock. I put a cute matching scrapbook page in the clear front cover pocket & printed "Name's Art Book" in matching colors. They were a big hit & everything was in one place when they were ready to draw.

These are awesome ideas. One year my son, who is high function ASD, had his father drive him to the home where I grew up and talk about frequently and he took a walk to this area that I tell him was my favorite place to go and sit by myself to calm down, or do deep thinking and just be myself. He walked around this little brook area and picked up several small stones and felt them and put them down, and finally picked one up he said just "felt right". He brought it home, drilled a hole at one end of it, and strung a ribbon thru it, and then gave that to me for Christmas. He presented it to me in a little jewelry box and was wrapped very nice with a ribbon and bow. When I opened it and looked at it, at first I was quizzical, but in 2 seconds I knew. I KNEW he had gone to my very special spot and picked up a rock from MY SPOT and brought it home to give to me to have a part of my spot to keep with me always. That is a gift I will treasure forever and ever. Nothing more than a river washed rock, but the thought and meaning behind it was the deepest thoughtful gift ever.
Also, the airfryer is the BEST for "oven roasted" veggies, and I make the BEST boneless chicken breasts (try brining them in salt water for about 2 hours first, rinse and pat dry, spray with olive oil then season with your favorite seasoning and cook at 390 for about 11 minutes) comes out perfect. Sweet potato fries, roasted cauliflower, ohhh, I cook all my veggies in my airfryer! Thanks for all you do.

I love watching your videos ! Which I've said so many times. I love your gift ideas also. I hoped to order the peanut butter set, one for each of my adult children but they don't appear to deliver to Canada :( And I was going to order 3 or 4 earrings but the shipping cost to Canada is very high so I will have to locate a similar option here. I am a grandmother and I have 3 grandchildren who love to cook and bake so I am putting together gift sets for them, so fun. I also have a few video game grandchildren and plan to put together a snack/treat gift set for them for when they are playing a game or watching a movie. I plan to include a couple board or card games also in the gift set. I love to sew, although new to it, so I am making tents for each younger grandchild to have in their bedroom or playroom as a quiet space and I am including a fold out "bed" I am making by sewing 3 pillow cases together (favorite character pillowcases) and placing a standard, not expensive pillow in each so it folds up and then can use it in their tent. I am also making a fun sewn fire pit (on pinterest) for each tent set. This will include a book for each also. The older grandchildren will be getting a book with a pillow back rest for their bed and a bed light so they can read at night. The one thing I would like to challenge you and Diana, is to think about the environment also when planning gifts or other. There are many good for our environment products, such as organic or none use of plastic, that can be bought for hair products and other. I have just started using a shampoo bar which is wonderful for the environment and for my pocket book, also made and sold locally. Thank you again and please don't take offense to my environmental suggestion, just that you have such a large platform and I love that you talk about helping those who don't have oversees and small businesses in your area, but our envirnment is so important also :) Thanks again

If you have bits too small to glue back together, soak a cotton ball with glue and put it inside/behind the break and it will hold the tiny bits in place. Warren B. Smith authored the book entitled "Another Jesus" Calling. Many people are unaware that the author of the Jesus Calling series was inspired to write based on a channeled book called God Calling. This was stated in earlier editions of Jesus Calling but has been removed from more recent editions without comment from the author or the publisher once authors like Warren Smith began making readers aware of that troubling fact. As a former New Ager, Mr. Smith identifies New Age concepts and terminology in the Jesus Calling series. Mr. Smith has videos on TH-cam in which he identifies biblical problems with Sarah Young's series. Mr. Smith documents how spiritual deception is taking place within our churches. It is well worth the time to read/listen to his biblical critiques of Jesus Calling.

Thank you for putting this together! I've really been struggling to come up with gift ideas this year, but this gave me some good ideas.
My top love language is Acts of Service, followed closely by Quality Time. I love super practical gifts (some favorites have been coffee mugs, a ring holder, reusable cotton rounds, and nice pens) and just getting to do things together - even if it's as simple as my husband joining me on a couple of errands and getting coffee along the way.
One unique and thoughtful gift my husband gave me a few years ago was a canvas and a $25 giftcard to Joann Fabric, because he remembered me mentioning that I wanted to paint something for one of our walls... But I had never gotten around to it, because I always felt like there were "more important" things to do around the house. Wanting to use the gift I had been given gave me the motivation I needed to actually do the project, and now we have a special piece of art on our walls!

Really enjoyed today, some fantastic ideas (I use batiste too). You’ve just solved my dilemma for hubby’s Christmas. I have friends who have roombas and love them. I love a good daily devotion book so thanks for your recommendations although I already have this years. I really do think Diana you bring joy to Dawn and have helped sorted a happy medium when it comes to Christmas. I love to give rather than receive. Every year we go on a Catholic site CAFOD and I ask our grand daughters what they would like to send to a family who have nothing, Lilly chose a Goat which gives a family 12pints of milk a day and if they have any left over they can sell the surplus for something else they need. Ela and Ruby chose Chickens which will provide a family with eggs. I do this not only to help the families but to teach the girls that there are countries where children have nothing for Christmas (it’s like your children filling the shoe boxes) it’s helps them learn how lucky they are.
It’s been a lovely coffee time with you both thanks and may God bless you both xx

His materials help believers to recognize the subtle spiritual deception contained in the series and provide biblical reasons why believers should avoid it.

@@annijewiss3142 Hello Anni...thanks for your feedback. I apologize if the comment was confusing. It was meant as a general word of warning to viewers of the video because of the recommendation of Sarah Young's book entitled Jesus Calling for Christmas.
The book entitled Jesus Calling was the first book in what would later become a whole series of books (including Jesus Always, Jesus Today, etc.) Warren B. Smith's book entitled Another Jesus Calling was written as a biblical critique of the first book, Jesus Calling. Mr. Smith is a former New Age follower. Mr. Smith was alarmed by the use of New Age terminology and concepts that Jesus himself supposedly espoused in Jesus Calling. He rightly points out in his book that the true Jesus would not advocate New Age teachings. Mr. Smith also points out that the 'Jesus' of Jesus Calling flatters his readers--again, something that the Bible never does. These are just some of the theological problems with the book. When comparing various teachings in the Jesus Calling book against scripture, it seems that the 'Jesus' that speaks via Sarah Young's book(s) is a false Christ, that is, one that uses his name and identity but that seeks to lead people astray from the truth of God's word. We need to use a lot of discernment when evaluating materials so that we aren't lead astray.
Although Mr. Smith's book addressed the book Jesus Calling, we can see that his warnings would apply to all of the books in the series because of their faulty foundation and because a false Christ speaks through it. (Many people are unaware that the channeled book entitled God Calling was the inspiration for Sarah Young to write her book Jesus Calling. Channeling is a type of mediumship, something that the Bible forbids. Why would a Bible believer be inspired by a book written by occultic means? Sarah Young's description of how she gets her 'messages' from 'Jesus' seems to be the same or similar to the way God Calling came to be. Again, something that scripture would forbid. References to how her first book came to be were removed from subsequent printings of her book without comment by the author nor publisher.)
Mr. Smith's materials provide a much-needed warning about the spiritual deception that is occurring in the church via things like the Jesus Calling series. If a person puts Warren B. Smith and Jesus Calling in the TH-cam search bar, talks will come up about this subject. His book is an excellent resource. More information about spiritual discernment can be found at lighthousetrailsresearch.com.

My love language is similar to Diana. I love the thought that goes into gifts. I’m not big on storebought premade gift baskets but actual thoughtful gifts. For example one of my favorite gifts I gave was to a friend who had a family cottage in Northern Michigan. She a pic on FB of the sunset off the dock. I had that made on to a throw pillow for her on Shutterfly. She still says how much she loved that. And her telling me that is a gift enough for me!

It’s so crazy how y’all are so different but compliment one another so well! I love the gift ideas, I’m a lover of practical gifts! My favorite gift I’ve ever gotten for Christmas was an ornament from my husband. I hang it on the tree, every year and remember all the details of that specific Christmas and how special it was. My love language is quality time and words of affirmation. So Dawn, you’re doing great with these videos and I like how you break up the video with closeup shots of things on the computer or gifts.

The book entitled "Another Jesus" Calling offers a biblical critique of the book Jesus Calling. The author, Warren B. Smith, is a former New Ager, and he was alarmed by the use of New Age terminology and concepts that Jesus himself supposedly espoused in it! The true Jesus would not advocate New Age teachings which are contrary to scripture. Mr. Smith also has talks available on TH-cam about the same subject. His materials help believers to recognize the subtle spiritual deception contained in the series and provide biblical reasons why believers should avoid it.

Hey Dawn & Diana! Dawn, You should get one of those wristlet things from Empowered Goods to hook on your wallet! I just ordered one because I forget mine all the time too.
Diana, I am you. My bestie called me one day & told me to check my mailbox one day. She left me a Cadbury egg just because. It was so sweet & right on time. ☺️

The last time you mentioned your National Park poster I commented, but it was long after your video, so not sure that you saw it. Just wanted to make sure you knew about the free Junior Ranger programs at all the National Parks, National Historic Sites, and National Monuments. We spend 8 weeks in our camper every summer and visiting the parks is a huge part of our trip. The kids can earn a unique ranger badge for each park/site. They complete a small workbook, attend a ranger talk, and sometimes do an activity at each park/site to earn a badge unique to that location. My kids have about 30 so far and they are so treasured! Its fun for them and a great incentive to really learn about each location.
As for gift ideas, if you think your mom would like a Roomba... consider a Braava Jet for next year. Just like a Roomba, but it mops instead of vacuuming. We LOVE ours!

I gave that same 5 year journal to myself and my sisters and sisters-in-law last year. After my mom passed, I found HER 5 year journal from college! I didn't even know such a thing existed, but it was so sweet to read about her life before all of her kids came along. (Better if she had finished it, but I can't say much since I obviously inherented this trait.)
I wanted my kids to have this later to see a little snapshot of their lives as kids.

I also left my wallet in a Walmart cart! Didn't get it back though.😔 It was about a month before Christmas and I had a newborn and my husband was still recovering from a vehicle accident he was in a week before our baby was born. But an amazing thing happened that year when we went out to get a Christmas tree. Some folks from our local bank were at the little tree farm where we always get our trees. We picked out our tree, brought it to the front to purchase and someone from the bank introduced themself to us, said they were from the bank, and said that they would like to buy our tree for us! I sobbed!! Like even now I'm crying thinking about it lol. It was such a hard year for our family and this small gesture completely filled my heart and lifted my spirit. Best Christmas gift ever❤

Listening to you speak about love languages made me think: what about creating a gift of a ‘gift ideas’ book? I am imagining a book with a page or two for each person to buy for to capture things like their love language, their favorite things (favorite colors, foods, flowers, crafts etc.) clothing sizes, jot down gift idea throughout the year, and so on. Like Diana, I am a Christmas person BIG TIME and love to give gifts and the process of finding something I think the recipient will really like. You could also stick a pocket in it for cards and stamps.

I love giving practical gifts. A few years ago, my husband's 90 some year old grandmother received paper goods like paper towels, napkins, toilet paper; facial tissues; etc so she didn't have to go to the store to purchase that stuff. People in their 90s really do have most everything they need. She seemed to really appreciate it.
Also, I saw on fb where people were building things out of pop tarts too. Thought of the graham cracker houses and couldn't remember where I saw it. Now I was reminded. Thought the pop tart idea was a good one too.

This is a wonderful way to love on your college kids too. When I was in 19 or 20 my parents put together a giant box that had all of the consumables that you take for granted as a kid starting out. TP, paper towels shampoo etc...and in the very bottom was an envelope from my dad with the exact amount of one car payment. I’ll never forget that gift.

My love language is a tie of physical touch and quality time. The least of my love languages is gifts. I moreso enjoy the time spent sitting together in the livingroom watching each person open their gifts one at a time, and hearing the tales attached to the findings or "whys" of said gifts, than I enjoy the actual wrapped items themselves.

Several years ago I left my Fanny pack with money, credit cards and ID hanging on the back of a stool at the Black Jack table at a casino while stopping there for lunch on a vacation trip. Several days later and many miles away I remembered where I left it. I told God that if when I went back there on our return trip and it was there, I would never gamble away another dollar. Well, it was there, in their safe, with nothing missing. I just broke down crying and have never entered another casino since.
