I never liked the default controls in this game. But thankfully, you can remap them on the bike selection screen! (Remapping is a feature ALL games should have!) Glad to hear XG3 still has a community, too! It's (IMO) the best game in the series.
I would love to play the third game if I ever get the chance. The controls in the N64 games on the Switch are just weird in general thanks to the original controller so I can’t really speak for the default controls in the game :)
IMO the Extreme-G series is right up there with F-Zero and Wipeout. XG2 and XG3 were absolutely amazing games when they came out and the series holds up quite well today. Been meaning to replay through all the games, and will soon!
I can see why you think so. I’ve only played the first game but like I said in the video, I liked it a lot! I would love to get my hands on the sequels as well.
I've been looking into this. The rights to this franchise belong to throwback entertainment, which is a company who own the IP rights to around 130 classic franchises. The company has 7 staff members, yet appears to have a huge value (the total IP value is in the 9 figures). Its actually really hard to get any more info on them. I would love to win the lottery, buy the rights for XG, and then relaunch it on modern consoles. Ah well... I can dream!
Solid journalist work you did there, thanks for the info! I would love to see remakes too of course but I’ll take the win in this case just because Nintendo released the game on the N64 collection.
I absolutely love this game when I was younger, it was one of the first racing games I ever had and was also one of the inspirations for me wanting to pass my motorcycle tests, honestly, with the way gaming is today, I'd love something a little different in the market, I'd love games like Extreme-G (as well as other games like wipeout) to make more of a comeback on the current gen consoles!!!
I would of course also like that very much :) Cool that this game inspired you to take your motorcycle license! I also took mine back in the day and quite recently started riding again.
@AGRacingCentral, that's awesome stuff. I'm glad to hear you're riding again, I wanted to ask, if you haven't done so already, do you think you could do a review of the sequels to Extreme-G? I would really like to see what you think of them as well (if you haven't done so already...)
No worries at all, I'm glad I could help! I think I found at least the translation to the Switch Pro Controller from the original N64 layout in some kind of menu but after that, it was more or less trying all the buttons. The controls feel really awkward at first :)
I would have to say that I agree, even the first game felt really good to play which says a lot considering its age. Thanks again for making me aware of the game being available!
One of my favorite games. The 2nd game is on Steam, but sadly the port is terrible. Not sure what the company who owns the IP is doing with it. It was sold a couple of years ago. It would be nice if we got a new game similar to XGRA. One of the best racing OSTs for its time. Surprised you didn't really show off the Neon, as that one is fun to pick up speed/momentum in. Still remember the old password unlocks for this.
I guess Extreme-G is another great racing franchise left behind by the publisher. If things go well for this port, we can always hope that we’ll see the other games in the series on the Switch or its sequel. And I’ll make sure to show off Neon in my next video about the game :)
My first futuristic racer. I really miss the series. Third is my favourite but I do have fond memories of the first. Never played the second one and hated the fourth.
I've only heard good things about Extreme G 3 and I will actually be able to try it for the first time now myself, thanks to a viewer who provided me with an emulated version. Thanks a lot for your comment!
Yes, what you describe isn't exactly Nintendo's strong suit. They should do what Playstation does and release the classic games in the Classics Catalog but at the same time allow people to purchase them seperately.
Thank you for watching! If you've played Extreme-G, feel free to share your thoughts about the game in a comment.
Nintendo has made this game run infinitely better.....
Emulators seem to have trouble with it....

Yes, history! I was just mentioning that to you :)
Yes, thanks a lot for that! I was quite surprised about how well this game still holds up.
I rented that game all the time, sadly never got the chance to buy it.
Also the game had an amazing soundtrack!.
I didn’t talk about the music so much but I liked it too! I can see why you liked the game back then, it still holds up really well in my opinion.
Best combat racer ever!
This video helped me learn the controls which aren’t listed in the Switch Online options nor does it come with a digital game manual. Thanks

lol having your bike dropped into a vat of fire is like a mortal kombat fatality for a racing game
It really is! I was honestly quite shocked the first time it happened, it just felt too brutal :)
Never had the chance of playing Extreme-G but everyone speaks in high regard of it. 😀
I would have to say that I agree, even the first game felt really good to play which says a lot considering its age. Thanks again for making me aware of the game being available!
Great racing game from the late 90s. It's great to see it's now available on Nintendo Switch!
I agree! Including F-Zero X was more or less a given but I was positively surprised when I got notified that Extreme-G was on there too.

Great game. I finished it on hardest without the weapons.
Impressive, you’ve must have put a lot of hours into the game! It’s definitely not the easiest racing game out there.
Somente no Switch? Triste 😢
Unfortunately the game is only available on Switch. It was an N64 exclusive back in the day but the second game in the series is available on Steam.
Wish you vould buy these classics separately without a subscription... playstation does that super well!
