She played my favourite character on Prisoner. Absolutely wonderful actress. Her delivery of Marie's famous one-liners were exquisitely and perfectly done. Thank you so much, Maggie, you provided so much entertainment for me! Maggie is as delightful as Marie is evil!
Wonderful Actress and superb Artist,Marie Winter was a great character and a true icon!with the greatest cackle Laugh I've ever heard,Maggie Millar is a true legend!
What an absolute legend actor. Always loved when Marie was on the screen. She was a perfect character for Prisoner played by an excellent actor Maggie Miller. Thanks Maggie!😊
What a lovely lady and what strikes me from many of these interviews with the cast, its that they still seem so in awe of their characters created so long ago now, and how much they have stayed with people. I think Prisoner started in Australia in 1978 but it was much later we got it in the UK so that explains some of the time lapse but, even in that scenario were talking well over 30 years ago. Maggie was such a strong prescence in her appearances and It delighted me how genuine she was in recieving the lovely fan comments...almost as if she'd never assumed that job she had all those years ago had made such an impact on lives in present time. Matts only a 'young'un' so his reactions to the interviews with Val, Louise, Margot and Maggie speak so much for his generation. If those actresses at their times of life feel how much joy they've given to so many of us accross the world, then I think Talking Prisoner has created something very worthwhile and special.
Thanks for your very kind words and I don't feel young but thank you haha. Prisoner had a huge impact on me as a child and I felt doing Talking Prisoner was a way that we could honour the show and say thank you to all the cast and crew. Thank you for your support.
Thank you Matt and Ken for all the effort you put into this channel. Maggie Millar is so sweet. I hope we get to see Maggie Kirkpatrick on this one day!!!
I had the privilege of meeting Maggie when I was at Uni in about 2008 at a Prisoner convention in Newcastle, England, What a lovely lady, nothing what so ever like Marie, which shows just how good an actress she is!
A big thank you to you both for uploading these videos. It’s wonderful to get a glimpse of the real person behind the character. Maggie Miller’s character - Marie Winter - was certainly one of my favourites from the show. Hearing that cackle again made me laugh.
Maggie Millar is the only member of the prisoner cast I've ever met in person. She told me that she didn't get on with Sheila Florance when she was on the show but didn't go into the details and that she preferred Gerda Nicolson as governor over Patsy King. She said she liked watching Doc Martin when she visited the UK.
@@TalkingPrisoner You're very welcome. My favorite was probably when she escaped on the helicopter, it was just hilarious with the dummy hanging on there. But her scenes with Olivia Hamnett were highlights as well.
this was such a pleasure to watch im loveing all of these interviews with the superb prisoner cell block h cast great job you guys are doing here maggie is such a great actress.
Ken and Matt: these interviews are like a fine bottle of wine --they keep getting better as time goes on. Great interview with Maggie Millar. I always thought it was interesting how you pronounce Marie (MA- ree) while we here in the US would say: (ma-REE). Excellent interview. It goes to show what I've always said: never confuse an actor with the character that they play. When you think about it ,Maggie Millar, Louise Le Nay Louise Siverson all played hard-nosed characters ; yet they were three of the sweetest interviews.
Maggie Millar was delightful. Shows what a good actor she is, to have given us the evil Marie Winter character. Never thought Marie was particularly tough physically and couldn't fight much, but she had a massively intimidating presence and way of talking and looking at people! A scary woman! It must be hard after all the decades of work for Maggie to remember the specifics of certain Prisoner scenes, but you know those that she did remember well (like the escape over the fence and running to the helicopter) must have been the most memorable and impactful ones!
@@TalkingPrisoner I'd have to go through all her episodes again, because there were some classic lines from her. But one memorable scene that cracked me right up was when Marie was waiting in the back of the paddy wagon for Kate Peterson to arrive for them to head off to Barnhurst... to Kate's absolute shock and horror upon seeing her cackling. Hilarious! 🤣
Thanks guys for asking my question re the Judy name calling... I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Maggie's answer to this, it completely satisfied my curiosity for a long time!
awesome interview as always. Maggie is a treasure and I loved every second of this interview. Im so glad she talked about Maries sense of humor, it is why she was such a great character because she wasn't just a simple bad guy. My fav line is "Well look at that. Queen Bea just buzzed off"
@@TalkingPrisoner Totally agree. I think what you guys are doing is awesome. not just for fans of the show, but for fans of the industry as a whole. The Australian acting community has always been my favorite, I think because the actors seem more interesting in good story telling and less on Hollywood glamour,
Aww she's so sweet and down to earth 🌎 🌎, has a genuine interest in people's talents, not self absorbed or up her own back side in any way, unlike many of the other prisoner characters unfortunately
It was a pretty stupid question from Ken to ask Maggie if she met Vivien Leigh before or after her role in Gone with the wind. Gone with the wind was filmed 1939. Maggie wasn't even born then.
I felt sorry for Maggie with some of the questions specific to the scenes and certain episodes... it's so much pressure to remember these things and give feedback. It's like she said, it was so long ago (almost 40 years!) and she just turned 80, and her brain has gone to mush! 45:08 LOL.. Love her sense of humour!
@@TalkingPrisoner It was a fantastic interview, and I am really grateful to you for asking her my question that I always wondered about. Her answer was so interesting, it was great. I also liked that the interview was plenty long enough, but not too long, so you could get through it in one sitting. It's fascinating to see these interviews, especially since I started going through the whole series again recently, and have got through 580 episodes so far since last year. Many thanks! 👍👍
@@TalkingPrisoner I felt for her at times during the interview... she did her best to helps us fans out. But I can't even imagine doing about 100 different jobs across a 50 year career, and then getting probed about specific interactions with colleagues at one of those jobs 40 years ago? As a fan, I love what you do to bring us these interviews, and really enjoy it when they can remember a certain scene well, but it can't be easy for them! I applaud their efforts, and Maggie was a delightful interviewee despite one of her comments that she wasn't!
@@TalkingPrisoner So funny! Maggie seems so nice, nothing like Marie. Marie had such a bogan accent too, compared to Maggie who is a well spoken Aussie. Great acting!
1:07:18 - the Marie laugh! Maggie’s a delight, a lovely interview! Congrats to Matt and Ken too. 👍 This may be a little obscure, but I’ve always loved the incidental music in Prisoner. I don’t know if any of the music editors are still around but I’d love to hear the process of choosing the music to add to the visuals. Thanks so much and already looking forward to the next interview. Great stuff, guys! 👍
Another enjoyable interview well done lads. Pity about the Bell Bird series being wiped out like that. The lousy BBC did this themselves with series like Dr Who and a few Dad's Army. Also some TV shows like a British show about the suffragettes called Shoulder To Shoulder are never shown anymore. Back to Maggie. Wonderful and entertaining lady in the old show. Always stirred things up and always hilarious.

I love the statement that Marie's exit from the series was 'one of the most iconic scenes in the show's history..' or words to that effect. One of? Come on guys.. The scarecrow on a helicopter is one of the most iconic scenes in soap history EVER! The list pretty much goes, in no particular order.. PCBH - Marie Winter's scarecrow on a helicopter moment. It’s a shame she doesn’t t remember much but then it is along time ago and she is in her 80s now it was the broad accent and cackle and one liners that made her as a British person hearing her I imagined that accent she used was very low class and street
