You know, people knock Prisoner but The Freak is one of the most multi-faceted charachters ever written. How dare they make me feel any sort of compassion for her.........but I do! Why?

If only Reynolds had passed on the information to Meg and the rest of the staff that Myra had told her of regarding Bev, and put her into isolation, a life could have been saved. Also, I couldn't believe it when (I think it was Judy) told the male officer that a knitting needle had gone missing, and he wasn't the slightest bit concerned.

They say the "Golden Era" of Prisoner was the 1980 Season when Bea, Lizzie and Doreen were front and centre of the show...Judy was a good addition to this group. The Freak rescued the show from the slump it had fallen into when she arrived. By the end of the series she was no longer scary and had become the classic Pantomine villain.
Those social workers are truly vile. As much as Bev Baker gave me the creeps, I'd rather be stuck in a prison with her than those patronising do gooders
I love Bobbi's poster of Roger Taylor, from Duran Duran, on the wall! They were my fav band at the time. I was almost 14 when this was filmed and living in what was then West Germany. I had the exact poster on my wall. Roger was my fav. LOL!!
The Freak's entrance at the end.. lol. But not quite as menacing as when she marched in with the neck brace on after the Great Fire of Wentworth! That was pretty badass!

For a character that showed so much potential it's a shame she went out in such an anticlimax. If she had come into show when others had to go she could have got rid of them instead of killing a social worker who viewers don't care about.
I recall at the time reading that the viewers hated her and they wrote her out before they planned to, but the show was filmed far enough in advance so that that couldn't have been the actual reason.
I'm pretty sure they were going to work on her a lot more. Apparently she stayed in character and gave the crew and everyone the creeps. Maybe they thought the pussy fan base couldn't handle it, as they seem to be more obsessed with the goody goodies. I think they were going to do the top dog thing a bit more, though as stated she giving the crew and everyone the creeps and thats why she written out...Would be a good compliment in the end as she was one of the most brilliant on the show.

In fact i was at school with a young girl (14 y/o) who was in a car accident with her father and all her friends... he was taking them out, everyone was killed but her. she wasnt told til she was leaving the hospital n then had a fatal heart attack on the hospital stairs

A lot of people are saying Dot can't replace Lizzie. They're right. But I'm not sure that's what the writers were going for. Surely they wouldnt think anyone could replace Lizzie's character and Shiela Florence's acting. Perhaps Dot was put there for a reminder. Maybe she was put there for a laugh to help remind us of Lizzie in a way--not to try and bring back her character with a different name and face.

I don't blame Reb for grabbing her chance whilst the going is good, but maybe she should have waited until she is a bit less sore. It took her all her time to walk and if she needs to run then she will have no chance of getting away. A character like Bev is always good for entertainment value, but it was always going to be short-lived. Even if she hadn't killed herself, she would have been transferred somewhere after killing that guy. Personally, If she had to leave for good then I would rather have seen Myra take care of her good and proper first! Oh well, on with the next one...

A lot of people are saying Dot can't replace Lizzie. They're right. But I'm not sure that's what the writers were going for. Surely they wouldnt think anyone could replace Lizzie's character and Shiela Florence's acting. Perhaps Dot was put there for a reminder. Maybe she was put there for a laugh to help remind us of Lizzie in a way--not to try and bring back her character with a different name and face.
I hated the Dot Farrar character - clichéd, OTT acting and not believable at all. Lizzie was much, much better.

Air embolism will absolutely kill you that quickly. All it takes is one small air bubble in the bloodstream. That's why IV's are precausioned with valves and vacuums, to prevent air embolism.

@GarethColquhoun well you start out studying health & social care most of the time before going onto social work degrees. Where you get basic first aid training etc. I dont recall them teaching about air in the bloodstream though.

I don't blame Reb for grabbing her chance whilst the going is good, but maybe she should have waited until she is a bit less sore. It took her all her time to walk and if she needs to run then she will have no chance of getting away. A character like Bev is always good for entertainment value, but it was always going to be short-lived. Even if she hadn't killed herself, she would have been transferred somewhere after killing that guy. Personally, If she had to leave for good then I would rather have seen Myra take care of her good and proper first! Oh well, on with the next one...
