Unlike Wild dogs, Hyena's don't care or hunt for their injured and sick clan members. The Hyena's were unlikely to fight for or protect their hurt clan member. Very interesting behavior by the lions and the hyenas both. First, that the lions just followed the gravely injured (adolescent) hyena and didn't kill it straight off, before other clan members started showing up. Second, that the other clan members showed up at all and gave the injured hyena a safety perimeter. The injured hyena must have very high rank and/or the lions are getting too close to the den.
This is a lesson to never skip leg day, never know when your gonna have to handstand your way out of something, and I know hyenas are 4 legged animals lol

The worst part is how much hate hyenas get even in situations like that. They are just trying to survive like any other predator. People say as excuse they hate them because they eat their preys alive. But wolves, wilddogs, bears, dogs and many more predators do the same without getting hate. Even big cats mostly play hours with their terrified prey before killing it. Lions don't need a reason to kill hyenas. On normal occasions they just break their spines and leave them to die a slow horrible death, and somehow lions are still seen as noble.

With two prime Male lions, there had to be eight to twelve or more females getting set up for a hunt. The males were threatening the hyenas to stay away, or they would have to kill a couple of them. Of course they were relaxed. Two male lions could decimate that whole groupe of hyenas.

Lions don't need a reason to kill hyenas. On normal occasions they just break their spines and leave them to die a slow horrible death, and somehow lions are still seen as noble.

With two prime Male lions, there had to be eight to twelve or more females getting set up for a hunt. The males were threatening the hyenas to stay away, or they would have to kill a couple of them. Of course they were relaxed. Two male lions could decimate that whole groupe of hyenas.
