Gaz, You could get more potatoes if you earth them up. :) In the bucket, put a couple of inches of soil, then the sprouted potatoes and then fill only a 3rd of the bucket with soil. When you start to see leaves growing, cover the plants again and top it up with soil by a couple of inches every time. Do this until the bucket is full with soil. It gives the plant more chance of growing more roots as the stem under the soil will be much longer, resulting in more potatoes. Hope this helps! :)

I agree! Potatoes are my favorite, and I'd have no trouble surviving a famine dining on potatoes daily. I told my cardiologist that I never met a potato I didn't like and he told me to end my love affair with potatoes. So, my beloved and I are on a break. So lonely, miss my tatos...but I don't miss the 20 pounds I just dropped. Ugh, tradeoffs. Can't wait until I can incorporate some of these lovely recipes back into my weekly menus.
When they start flowering it means that the potatoes are starting to grow. A month later they should be already a decent size. It's fine to wait for the plant to die, but the longer you keep them in the ground the likelier it is that they get eaten by animals.
Primary reason I watch Gaz’s videos are because of his excitement in cooking along with with the respect he pays to mother nature’s ingredients. Second reason I watch…the recipes. Happy Holidays Gaz.

Lovely video 😍. I have a tip for the saffron; better grind it into small bits (mortor pistol or a small grinder with a touch of sugar)you get more out of the saffron than if you keep them whole. You would have used quarter the amount you used here saving more of the pricey herb 😊. I loved your recipe though and I am inspired to plant my own potatoes 😍

Small tip for people looking for that ‘weight’. I use regular old bricks. I gave my favorite 4 bricks (various sizes) a quick spray with the garden hose to knock off main dirt, but then put them thru the dishwasher. Instead of buying expensive baking weights, it’s a cheap alternative. Plus bricks come in many different sizes weights and shapes.
Gaz all your videos should come with a warning that watching it will make you extremely hungry . 😁 . I am watching it at 1 am after a heavy dinner but still crave the gnocchi and tiktok dish . Merry Christmas to you and family 🌲🌲.
I am salivating. Those spuds look heavenly. I’ve shown my husband the video and have ever so subtly asked him to make them for tea. Because it’s Saturday!
1:30 you could have planted half of the potatoes, cut each potato into pieces because all you really needed to plant is a chunk of potato and the eye. Cut each piece and let it air dry overnight and then plant, sweet potatoes you just twist off each eye and go straight to the dirt.
Just finished baking these. Lost a lot of butter over the side of the dish which makes me think there was too much butter in the recipe. However perhaps my dish was too shallow. Will report back tomorrow after shallow frying them. Update: These were delicious after frying. I tried a second time just with vegan butter, but without the leek and garlic it really lacked flavour. The second time I didn't press them during baking, only during the cooling stage, and the result was still great.
As a potato lover, the potatoes look amazing! May I know what could you use as a substitute for the brandy if me want to make it kid-friendly? Thank you for this wonderful video!
You are so talented. Everything looks delicious. Glad you give alternative to frying. For instance to bake the layered potato dish. I love potatoes but can't eat Irish potatoes too much so I stick to yams. You pronounce gnocchi different and it makes me smile. 😊 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'm not sure how long it takes, but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to take them out when the plant dies.
When they start flowering it means that the potatoes are starting to grow. A month later they should be already a decent size. It's fine to wait for the plant to die, but the longer you keep them in the ground the likelier it is that they get eaten by animals.
Would have been nice to know hehe
The world needs more people like you, Happy New Year
Primary reason I watch Gaz’s videos are because of his excitement in cooking along with with the respect he pays to mother nature’s ingredients. Second reason I watch…the recipes.
Happy Holidays Gaz.

i could watch your videos for hours without a break. i always learn something new, get inspired, get some new recipe ideas, get aome positive energy and watch a beautiful soul live his dreamlife. hope you will get your own tvshow once😍👌
Lovely video 😍. I have a tip for the saffron; better grind it into small bits (mortor pistol or a small grinder with a touch of sugar)you get more out of the saffron than if you keep them whole. You would have used quarter the amount you used here saving more of the pricey herb 😊.
I loved your recipe though and I am inspired to plant my own potatoes 😍
your videos are amazing. thank you and Merry Christams
You are amazing thank you for teaching people how to make delicious vegan food ! I been growing my own food in community garden for several years sadly I’ve been kicked out of it it bothers people that I spend to much time and work in it 💕💕 Happy New Year
Omg thank you for using saffron 😍 I’m Persian and I use it nearly everyday with my rice
Hey Gaz, your homegrown potatoes look great. I do this the same way at home 🙂 Merry Chrismas!
The easiest way to peel cooked potatoes is to leave them alone for a while (until not piping hot but still warm) and then peel them with a dessert knife. Happy Christmas!
Brother. I was just chatting with a friend who LOVES potatoes. Definitely gonna try these delicious looking spuds
Potatoes are a gift 😭❤️
Was he Irish? 😂

Gaz awesome recipes! I have been trying several vegan items with my friends and it’s been hit every time- I have to try the potatoes
This is the best potato video. I’m so excited to try the gnocchi recipe!!
Plus bricks come in many different sizes weights and shapes.
this was amazing! my mouth is watering! gonna have to try these two recipes. you make it look so easy.
Gaz all your videos should come with a warning that watching it will make you extremely hungry . 😁 . I am watching it at 1 am after a heavy dinner but still crave the gnocchi and tiktok dish . Merry Christmas to you and family 🌲🌲.
Ok I will put a warning at the start of every video from now on 😅
@@gazoakleychef ha ha thank you 😀 .
I’ve never met a potato I didn’t like. Will definitely be making these recipes. Happy Holidays to you, your crew, and family.
Also, Gaz, the leek roots hack is next level 👌🏼
I am salivating. Those spuds look heavenly. I’ve shown my husband the video and have ever so subtly asked him to make them for tea. Because it’s Saturday!
You are amazing. The fact that you make these amazing recipes and than share them for free. Definitely gonna but your cookbook
dude i just love your vibe, thanks for sharing this
1:30 you could have planted half of the potatoes, cut each potato into pieces because all you really needed to plant is a chunk of potato and the eye. Cut each piece and let it air dry overnight and then plant, sweet potatoes you just twist off each eye and go straight to the dirt.
Oh this I’m deff going to have to make, this looks ingredible
The first potato recipe was much simpler than others I've seen for a similar result.
