"Never cook kale to long." Here in northern germany, kale is a very traditionel meal. You cool them for one hour or mabye two. Once i've cooked my Version for more than 3 hours. In this Version you cook them with ham and a sausage called "Bregenwurst" or "Pinkel". Served with cooked potatos and mustard. It is so famouse, that it is a tradition to go on a walking tour and after this you go to a Rerstaunt and eat kale in disproportionately large quantities. The name of this happening called "Braunkohlwanderung". Since i turned vegan i made my own Version with vegan sausages and potatos.
As a fellow person from northern Germany, I second that. Cooking kale for hours is normal for us and very traditional. Fun fact, I recently found out why in some parts of northern Germany its calles Braunkohl (brown kale) and in othe Grünkohl (green kale). It was actually different kale that was used historically, that looked different after being cooked (brown or green). For years I thought its both the same and maybe it was just cooked a bit different, depending on the region.
Hi from the very south of Germany 😃 We do that too, but with the red cabbage... My grandma cooks it so long that I almost expect it to fall apart into it's molecules XD
American here but my mother was from northern Germany. She'd make this dish too. The potatoes would be seasoned with sugar and salt and fried in butter. That and the fatty "Pinkel" would undo any health benefits from the kale. But it sure was tasty. Haven't eaten that in probably 30+ years.

This was incredibly satisfying and soothing to watch! Also i’m lucky to have discovered “umami” through this channel it has elevated my plant based experience ALSO a sheep named Sandra.. 10/10 😌
Happy for you. You will be so much more relaxed gardening.
This was like a movie! So beautiful ✨✨
I love that you live in the countryside now. I would like to see how your house is becoming your home, vlogs, what you eat in a day, how to grow vegetables, and recipes videos!
Great video and update on your newest adventure in your life! I can only imagine, and hope, that you are wildly inspired by your new/old surroundings!
"Never cook kale to long."
Here in northern germany, kale is a very traditionel meal.
Haven't eaten that in probably 30+ years.
der Kram ist ekelhaft hahahaha
Too long
Cool & beautiful place and people! Oh joy! New video & recipe! 😊 This is what I needed after a long hours on a plane. It gives so much joy, fun, laughter and relaxation! Thanks Gaz! 🧡Enjoy & will definitely making your recipes when I return home. 😉
Loving that you have moved back to Wales, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else 😁
Looking forward to watching your journey 👍
I would love to see Graham Burnett who wrote a brilliant book about Vegan Permaculture, Ian Tolhurst who uses all vegan growing methods for his market garden.
Non vegans who are fab veg gardeners....Huw Richards, Liz Zorab from Byther Farm and Tony from Simplify Gardening. All fabulous gardening channels and really lovely people too; bonus... they all live in Wales ❤
Congratulations on your new home! Peace & Blessings Always 💙
Best decision. Good luck to you and your team. Love 💗 Maria Montreal Canada
I admire your willingness to get back to nature and cook on an old fashioned fire!!! Stay humble! Stay kind! And know I'm a huge fan 😊
So happy you're doing this Gaz!! The moment you said you'll be growing your own food, it reminded me of Jun from Jun's Kitchen! I don't know if it'll be possible to have him/them (Rachel and Jun) here. But it would be super cool.
I just made something very similar to CAWL. Yum. I am so happy for you that you moved from the city and back to your homeland. I can’t wait to see more.
I love how you didn’t edit that part out lol it adds character!
I just LOVE the fun and playful style of this video!
This the same way i feel. Country side living for me in the near future! Great Video GAZ!
SO excited to be witnessing this new part of your life!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
I follow you since i'm vegan, for 2 years now. I'm really proud of you and everything that you've achived. I hope things go well for you on the countryside, and that you're happy 😊 I also dream of growing my own vegetables so i'll be waiting for those gardening videos 💖
Thank you very much sir. Reminds me of my Grandmothers cooking (she is Welsh) and emigrated to New Zealand where we are now. Love the jersey!
Olli's screaming never gets old. Love this guy 😂👍
Congratulations on the move. I’m glad you followed your heart
I love literally everything about this recipe & cannot WAIT to try it 💕
Can't believe this guy has a cookbook, that was some terrible cooking. Over seasoned boiled veg. With a whole lemon thrown in for extra bitterness. Just no!
This reminds me of those cooking abroad cooking channel shows! So comforting.
Ah, your Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall years, this could be interesting. Bring on the homebrew!
And bring on the Hugh!
If Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall cooked that monstrosity he'd be having a real bad day.
Well done, sir. Hope you'll be happy. Kind people deserve happiness. It's so nice to watch someone cooking clean food. I don't have to close my eyes when a chunk of suffering gets thrown into the pan. 💚🌿🕊️
I'm moving to Wales next year, this excites me even more!! Can't wait to grow my own veg too🌱🌱
I envy you. i lived there for about a year during my studies and I still think of it as the best time of my life and the most beautiful place I've been to. People were so friendly too. I did go back for vacations several times but living there is still better. Have a great time there!
@@mariojerez9208 Not really. The climate is very mild. It does rain a lot but that's just how it goes in the UK and Ireland. It's why the country is so beautiful.
So happy for you Gaz… your videos have always been a source or peace for me but now they are next level!
Getting back to what really matters. Your move can only serve to benefit you.
Beautiful video and as a young woman who has lived in London for the past 3 years, it is interesting to hear your reflections and reasons for moving away!
Only went to Wales once over 20 years ago and fell completely in love!! So happy for you ❤ (and us, your viewers :)
Hurrah!!!
I too did exactly this, quit my job in London 7weeks ago and moved to snowdonia!

@@gazoakleychef Really? Over seasoned boiled veg. With a whole lemon thrown in for extra bitterness. Just no!
