Kanami wrote the music of NO GOD, and we kept in touch when I was writing lyrics to it, po, right? We kept in touch frequently during the COVID period, po. She said “I wrote this song with the feeling that rock is freedom”, so I was like “OK, I’ll write to get that across, not strong like ‘This is freedom!’ though, po”, but I think that’s the only one, po. Miku's laughing on the second Lu-li-lu (which you noted), is so contagious, if you listen carefully you can hear Saiki laugh briefly in the vocal line. Just that moment alone makes this one of my favorite performances. Followed by them buckling down for the ending. Great reaction!

Happy New Year! I understand that one of the reasons the Maids put gang vocals into their songs is their consciousness of their international audience. Lots of their choruses have non-language hook lines to allow crowds from all over the world to join in. They often project those lines to help with participation, particularly with English words such as “Hello” and “Why”. It’s another way that the Maids demonstrate their care for their fans, the “Masters and Princesses”.
When I saw them I loved but was not surprised when the crowd did the "DAN-DAN-DI-DI-DAN-DAN" part even though there was no official live video for "Unleash!!!!!" for them to learn it from. Although obviously the 2019 tour audiences didn't need it either, because the 'Maids just make songs where you just know how to sing along even though it's between two parts that are musically mind-bending.
I have listened to this song over a 100 times and never tire of it. I actually like the online version from a couple years ago better because I can differentiate the sounds better, especially MISA MISA MISA's bass solo. Best rock band on the planet.
I mentioned this in the comments section of previous reactions of Mark's as well, hoping he would react to the older version instead of this one. Now don't get me wrong, I do love this one as well, but I much prefer the clear sound of the Online Okyuji's version; Misa's solo in that version is just sublime. Akane is a BEAST of a Gorilla as usual. Her double kick should be used as THE Example of how to do it RIGHT. And you can hear in Miku and Saiki's voices just how much they enjoy singing this. Honestly Akane needs at least 4 more cameras on her. One from her right side showing her double pedal action, one from directly behind her, directly over her kit and one from the left behind her high hat. I think those camera views would be a masterclass in drumming.

By the way, your interpretation to this song was very close to mine. In my version, Band-Maid does acknowledge that there's a God. (They were even referring to Heaven, Angels, Adam and Eve, something you won't do if you don't quite buy the story). What I thought was that they point to the fact that there is No God to rely on (which is quite contrary to the Christian point of view), He never fixed any path for us, He placed us here, gave us some guidance, then left the rest to us. (Guess that's the part that's similar to yours). Hence, this song is saying that we are free to choose, not fixed by destiny. That completely makes the line "We have got to WIN" quite epic. Love it.

The lyrics for this one seem to be kind of the typical Band-Maid message, which is about self-empowerment. From the English translation: Verse 1 starting, "No harm in praying, but who's there for me now?" -- You can pray, but god's not going to solve your problems for you. You have to fight for what you want. Pre-Chorus starting, "Pride and modesty battle resolve and desire" -- Not wanting to embarrass yourself, or be assertive hampers your ambition. You have to try and fail sometimes and keep going to make something of your life. The rest of it is harder to interpret and I think would require deep diving into the Japanese. I love, "Don't mix. Danger. Handle with care," as a backing line. I also think it's fun that "Make" is like a standalone sentence in the lyrics, which you'd probably never really see in a native English song. It sounds awkward, but it's effective. This video is also a great illustration of the greatness of their costume design. Miku jumping up and down, with her apron straps acting as her flapping wings, because she's a pigeon. Going to miss these. I haven't watched Yokohama yet, but I wonder if Saiki is overly restricted by her new skirt, because she likes to step on whatever's on the front of the stage a lot.
The big surprise for me is how playful and upbeat the live versions are compared to the studio cut. Also had a good laugh at some reactors on one channel complain that the song was all bass, without any good lead guitar work!
I hope in the years to come, they can bring the production that they do in Japan to other countries. I love seeing them in a small, intimate venue, but it would be cool to see all this production behind them. They seem to have so much more fun.
It is really wonderful!!!!! in the states that’s what we get but in these videos they’re just seems to be so much more like brought to this band. That's why you can listen to a song multiple times and keep hearing things that you missed the first ten times you listened to it. Also, my first New Year's resolution is to find out what "1-2-3-4 parking lot" is actually supposed to be.
There's actually no translation anywhere not even in the lyric book , it's 1234 parking lot! That's the story , that we're sticking too , understood po?

Why are your analyzes always so accurate? Why are you able to talk about the structure and composition of a song in such an easy-to-understand manner? Listen to the live version of “Awkward.” There is a video from 2018 that was released from the official site, but it is not allowed to be uploaded to TH-cam, but there must be something that was uploaded illegally somewhere. It's a hidden gem whose great structure and hard-working guitar make it an interesting piece.

I didn't get that at all from the lyrics. It says right in there she still believes. So, why is it called that? Maybe that's her John Lennon moment. But I don't mind you pausing during solos. I think it's funny too. It's when people talk over them, that I don't like. It's disrespectful to Kanami, who doesn't sing that much, so that's HER time. And I loved that Jazzy run in the beginning and then that Rock riff throw in at the end for the change up. I do think she needs to balance her levels more. The little fiddly bits she does need to be lower, almost subliminal, like in the early stuff, where you had to strain a little to hear them. Then people would say, "I wish the lead guitarist would turn up more". But on that kind of thing, if you crank it, it becomes intrusive. But on the main lead, by all means, Crank It!
Mmmmm…..I don’t think they are saying there is no God. At the beginning they sing that who is there to hear your prayers, but later say they still believe in the story of Adam and Eve and that they loved each other beyond the end of their days. That suggests an afterlife. I think they say it seems like there is no God because no one is answering their prayers. Well, God answers all prayers in one of three ways. NO, YES or Yes but not yet. Think about the child who gets everything he wants from his parents no matter what. What do we call him…. SPOILED. In Band-Maid’s case, God answered their prayers the day they were born. Blessed with talent beyond most everyone on this planet they STILL had to work their asses of in order for them to ‘make it’. Those hard years have made them humble (or maybe they were all born more humble than most) and now they can appreciate the success and the love from their fans more than if their prayers were answered right away. I didn't get that at all from the lyrics. It says right in there she still believes. So, why is it called that? Maybe that's her John Lennon moment. But I don't mind you pausing during solos. I think it's funny too. It's when people talk over them, that I don't like. It's disrespectful to Kanami, who doesn't sing that much, so that's HER time. And I loved that Jazzy run in the beginning and then that Rock riff throw in at the end for the change up. I do think she needs to balance her levels more. The little fiddly bits she does need to be lower, almost subliminal, like in the early stuff, where you had to strain a little to hear them. Then people would say, "I wish the lead guitarist would turn up more". But on that kind of thing, if you crank it, it becomes intrusive. But on the main lead, by all means, Crank It!

Mmmmm…..I don’t think they are saying there is no God. At the beginning they sing that who is there to hear your prayers, but later say they still believe in the story of Adam and Eve and that they loved each other beyond the end of their days. That suggests an afterlife. I think they say it seems like there is no God because no one is answering their prayers. Well, God answers all prayers in one of three ways. NO, YES or Yes but not yet. Think about the child who gets everything he wants from his parents no matter what. What do we call him…. SPOILED. In Band-Maid’s case, God answered their prayers the day they were born. Blessed with talent beyond most everyone on this planet they STILL had to work their asses of in order for them to ‘make it’. Those hard years have made them humble (or maybe they were all born more humble than most) and now they can appreciate the success and the love from their fans more than if their prayers were answered right away. Anyway, thank for the reaction and keep up the good work.
