    I give them a coat of wd40 after I pressure wash them off after the race night, an usually a coat after the heat race, if I think they feel a little to smooth I fire the kart up an hold some sand paper against them real quick, I keep it simple lol

    We used Creosote. It's the stuff on railroad ties. I have fond memories of scraping it off ties, but I don't recall how it was procured, though. It was certainly the heaviest of you will if you are looking for something to bring durometer down AND remain throughpout a run. If we needed something to help us fire off the first few laps, we'd use WD-40

      Oh yeah, this was the late 90's early 2000s.

      Definitely used WD. No Creo unless it’s in something I’ve used.

    Used diesel fuel mixed with transmission fluid for several years. This was back in the mid 80’s to early 90’s

    • @barrystephens900
      @barrystephens900 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I don’t remember the ratio. The best thing I ever used was diesel mixed with creosote, but I don’t think it available any longer.

    • @kart6t3_ben
      @kart6t3_ben  ปีที่แล้ว

      Surprisingly enough, I’ve never run creosote (unless it was pre mixed in something). I know it’s hard to come by and works wonders but have 0 experience with it.

    I meet a man that raced in the 80 and early 90. Years ago. He told me if your starting in karting have little money for prep. He told me to use GOJO Hand Cleaner. There is oil in there he says, it will work. Help tires put oil in, and make tire softer and sticky. I tried it it works. I will use this to wipe down rap up store for winter. Note I do use track teck, red, orange know, but the gojo ariganale hand cleaner works.

      we did this all the time. tires were better on gojo than WD. do not use gojo with pumice the cream one only

      I used the original GoJo hand cleaner,, nothing in it like sand. White in color.

    Equal parts methanol trans fluid and dot 3 brake fluid with drop the duro on a maxxis and Burris like crazy and straight trans fluid for conditioning over winter

    Was wondering if you do any winter prepping like adding a coat or two once a week or letm sit till about two weeks before your first race

    • @kart6t3_ben
      @kart6t3_ben  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can. Something like wd40 is going to keep oils in the tire. In my opinion. But I’d stay away from anything harsh like goat or super aggressives.

  • @TheNWCowboy1
    @TheNWCowboy1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I used WD-40 on my tires after learning it from a buddy that was trying to get a little life out of an old Sprintcar tire. We Sprayed it and wrapped it with some packing wrap and let that sucker sit inflated for a week! LOL It looked a little better at least when we unwrapped it.

    Would liquid wrench or like pb blaster do the same or even be better then WD-40???

    Will it work on rc car’s tire ? Like wd40 I’m talking about

    • @kart6t3_ben
      @kart6t3_ben  ปีที่แล้ว

      It very well might. Track Tac also has a RC tire line.

    • @chrisslate1506
      @chrisslate1506 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe RC cars' less than 1/4 scale will require something that is actually tacky or sticky. At least, that was my experience some 20 years ago.

    Would you goat a tire that’s got a couple races left in it before the rubbers gone? Not just for track conditions but to soften it?

    • @kart6t3_ben
      @kart6t3_ben  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. Goat has its place, it works but for my budget friendly guys I don’t want them risking good tires.

    I’m sure some know this, and I’m sure this will shock some others. But there is a “bigger” name prep company that uses ATF in one of there mixes. I have used it and it is a very aggressive softer. Which is what ATF will do to the right “rubber”

      Yes. I’m sure alot of preps have known components in them.
