Zweigles fan here, broiled til hot and puffed up. You cannot get them everywhere, more local. Sweet relish and mustard, but I bet the addition of cheese would be great!! Great experiment!!
I do that all the time with my air fryer. I use a cheap aluminum take out tray to contain the oil. Help crisp it too. Don't cut the skin, it will choose its own place to split.

When I was a kid, I would always buy a hot dog at the movie theater. The options were sweet pickle relish, mayo and /or mustard. Today, I'm strictly chili cheese with onions. But, plain can be quite good. I'm surprised the cheese held up at all.

Interesting experiment. The sliced one I would just say scored hot dog. The sliced one down the middle I kept thinking I would put my onions in that & maybe they do not fall out all over. Finally that cheese one OMG that looked great. I was thinking putting some of my smoked colby jack I have here right now in that. Well Done Mike.
@@cookingwithbigcat It's great you living down In Florida makes it so much tougher because of the heat. Up here in Michigan you can do it in the Winter or fall or Spring. When it's hot outside the cheese will melt on you
How cool with the manatees! I do the slits, but do a crisscross slit, both sides. Cook with a little higher temp and it opens them up and gives 'em a good crisp. Love your comparisons Big Cat. OUT!

I always have liked the long sliced Hotdog. I love the taste of the sear on both sides(inside and out) plus being able to put cheese on there, or any other toppings, like Chili, Cheese and Mustard…
Great question actually. If you look at a map you can follow the canals that lead to the ocean. We actually have snook, seagulls, pelicans and obviously manatees which are salt water fish/birds. The lake is considered to be brackish... I'm trying my best to catch a snook (never caught one) but I am not the best fisherman lol... Ironic since my last name is Trout lol...
I wasn’t sure if I’d like the cheese dog even tho I love …cheese…had a 99% chance of winning…How about some good sauerkraut and pepper hash to help the other dogs compete…great view, love the manatees and great comfort food..great job..
Crazypop has a hot dog cutter that basically spirilizes the dog..... It is basically a plastic press that cuts the dog when you close it up...... But, is $50+, not paying that.....I like the more browning/texture it gives, but I'll go your route.....
