Epic Mezcal Distillery Tour at Convite in OAXACA!

We saved the best activity in Oaxaca for last - a mezcal tour! We chose to go with traditional mezcal producer Convite after visiting their tasting room and we're so glad we did. They provided a full-day tour including breakfast at their restaurant Baltazar, a visit to the local market in Tlacolula (where we had lunch), a tour of their palenque and wild agave fields, and tastings of all the different mezcals they produce. We even got to see them build a traditional roasting pit for the agave and get a full walk-through of the mezcal making process with their Master Distiller Daniel Hernández. It was an incredible, informative, and intoxicating day.

We’re Sean and Elliot, two thirty-something former musical theatre actors and restaurant industry veterans with a passion for food and travel.
In 2015 we got married, said goodbye to our acting ambitions, quit our day jobs, and decided to spend our honeymoon on a one-year Working Holiday Visa backpacking throughout New Zealand. That once-in-a-lifetime experience changed our perspective and opened us up to the possibility of long-term travel.
2020 was a brutal year for us, but it gave us the opportunity to rethink our priorities and commit ourselves to our dream of traveling the world together. So in August of 2021, we sold all of our stuff and bought a one-way ticket to Mexico with the plan to travel for as long as we possibly can.
