    Surprised it still has a factory shifter. Every one in the day said they were bad. You would expect people to cave at some point to new part-itis. Well I guess the whole car fits the mode of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

      As to the “smell”, I had a 66 Sport Coupe, bench seat factory 4 speed car in the late 70’s, and like so many of us, let it go. Took the engine and trans out to put in a 68 El Camino ( that I also don’t have anymore!) The Nova would re-appear from time to time over the years in various stages of restoration. I think it was about 15 years ago we saw one for sale out in front of a guys house, so we stopped to look at it. And by golly, it was my old car, that I sold for $400 without the power train years before. He was asking 20k. Nicely restored, but an automatic trans. I waved my wife over to have a look, she stuck her head in the door, took a peak. When we drove away she said “ I could tell it was your old car. It still smells like gas inside”!

    • @gordocarbo
      @gordocarbo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Love that smell!! Even after a new interior my 67 El still has a similar smell
      Aunts 70s LTD station wagon early 70s smelled even better.
      Only a car guy can agree on this lol.

    • @Dayandcounting
      @Dayandcounting 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In my part of the USA the smell was often moldy as those old windows were all leaky by the early 70's. Rusted out rear trunk pan and quarters were common. The memories are fond non the less though.

Sadly I had to let her go when I went to art school. 3 to 12 mpg, it was hard to afford to drive back then. I don't doubt that the black car is the real thing but where are the 327's above the V8's on front fender. It should have 137 on the Vin. I love my 66 Nova. This looks like a nice one, but all the 66&67 Nova SD I saw bake in the day had factory Hooker headers.
    They also made 5 with a 365 HP 327. 4 of them were SS's and 1 Chevy 11. I had the one Chevy 11 and didn't know what I had until after I sold it.
    Not to burst there bubble but I never had a stock 396 that could beat my Nova.
