@@cdh1320 Love the build. I'm honestly asking cause I do not know but how you running in the 10s and don't have a roll cage in the car? All the tracks I've seen requires a roll cage for 11.49 or less. Just honestly curious. I don't know what I don't know lol
@@cdh1320 hey man I've been building a 67 ii since I was 15yo haha. This is exactly how I envisioned my car being done with the right ration of nostalgia:modern. I've even had the billet specialties for years now. But I've redone my front clip a few times already... Went from rebuilding the stock, to the cpp stuff with stock wheel wells with cut out for fender well headers. To now I a full church boys front clip bout to go on it. I see ur wearing the CBR shirt. Interested to know more about ur front clip/ leaf spring setup.(looks like cal-tracs maybe on rear) I'm currently finishing up my own garage to finish the build. Can't wait to have the full CBR clip on it. Just curious to know more about your suspension setup socks etc. Your car def rides up like a cutter thru ice love it
I think he has old school style slider bars on the leaf springs. They still work really well. It also appears he has loose front shocks allowing a lot of weight transfer. Hey modern radial race cars have gone sub 4.0 1/8th mile on a 275 radial which is not much bigger than this tire. Of course that is on a track prepped with a ton of traction compound…
Such a sweet build and entirely relatable!! I loved Shawn’s reaction when the loud pedal got tapped, he was genuinely surprised at how brutal the car was! Car hooks up really cleanly and gets moving forward fast!! 🔥🔥😊😊👍🏼👍🏼
You have a well handled car when you can "casually" keep 1 hand on the wheel & hang one arm out the window while killing mosquitos 8:12 .... That smoke show at 0:23 u can see 4 separate streams lol that is pretty cool man!
Best engine ever...l96 basically ls3 but a lil smaller but stronger cause it's not aluminum and it has the square port heads then you put the lsa supercharger on it and you got an indescribable daily driven 10 second car that's reliable....good stuff
'66 and '67 Nova. One of my top 3 favorite cars of all time. He built this one right. No need to build something with a 1,000hp for the street. Performance to weight ratio is the only number to worry about.
Respect to the Nova , my pops has the exact same car , it's black on black . His is 327 four speed with 4.10 gears , not as quick as this one but quick enough ! Love the fact that it's not overly customized , that's what makes these muscle cars stand out! Super Cool !! 👍
Good looking car, nothing beats a second gen deuce. Nice stance. And that burnout! WOW! With a blown LSA, who needs a big block? Engine looks like it was born to be in there. Kudos on the build.
I know Chad personally and he's a hard egg to crack. It's cool to see him smile a bit here. Man, that car is amazing. I would probably be perma-grinned, but that's just me. Haha.
Good stuff Chad. Car looks great. Long way from wrenching on our old cars in high school. Definitely brings back good memories of my 67 Nova. One day I'll get one again. I'll have to ask you for help this time around.
I'm right there with you. I adore the 90s street rod/ProStreet look. You knocked the look outta the park. I could handle a slightly fatter tire and offset in the rear. Great car.
@@dougpearson4711 EEEEEVERYTHING about that car is 90s pro street. You simply have zero clue as to what 90s pro street is or looks like obviously. Its ok Dougy. You'll learn. Eventually.
The ole GT Grant. Lol. Truly the steering wheel of 90s budget hot rodding. 😆 I've owned several. My favorite is the 3 spoke with 3 holes in each spoke. Great steering wheel.
I'm glad Shawn had and experienced a hot rod built for drag racing on the channel. Nothing fancy just pure power. The pro-touring and show cars are nice but nothing compares to a hot rod built for drag racing. Since it's the only race that matters.
Dig the build simple clean and way faster than Id ever guess. Novas look so good in black just sinister. Never knew the dash/gauges were the same as the Chevelles same yr
Gotta ❤ it. Besides being drivable and chill it's still a beast. I love the stock interior and that dashboard display is insane. 😊 Nova's are like the forgotten Chevy. Kinda similar to the Dodge Dart. Not sure if anyone else could agree with the comparison.
What a sweet Nova! Love those Dakota Digital gauges that look stock, definitely getting a set for my General Lee restomod! Totally different odd style of course, but my mom had a 1974 Nova with the Spirit of America package. She got it new, doesn’t have it anymore though. Again, impressive build here, great job on the car!
Beautiful. Take it to the grocery store and not break the eggs. Take it for a rip and not break the budget. Take it to the streets and break some hearts. Props.
Killer sound Chad. You have all the right components keep up the good 👍 work, it hooks up beautifully 😍 its class and raw all at the same time. Thanks 😊 again Shawn, you're a happining dude
No cage. Not to smart he said he ran 10,s with out a cage that makes no sense anything at a track running 12.s needs cage at least here in NJ it does. Anyway safety first
Love the car!!!!! Question though.....how can he run in the 10s without a roll cage? Most tracks I've been to, under 11.5 requires a roll cage. Im just honestly curious.
I mean, I've never been afraid to drive my big block anywhere in the country. 725 NA hp at the flywheel. Simple 496 hydraulic roler. With a 300 dollar used nx mainline nitrous kit it went 9.60 on a 150 shot with thesame 255x60. This build is $$$$$.
Totally bitchin’ build! I have always liked the ‘66-67 Novas. They look kinda like a scaled down ‘66-67 Chevelle. I love that he left the car still looking like a mostly stock ‘60’s muscle car. I have the same tastes. The one drawback to these cars from a performance standpoint are the small rear tire openings. Guessing the 8” wheel and 255 tire was the biggest that fits without mini tubbing the rear quarters. I do wonder how in the world he was able to run 10.30’s at an NHRA sanctioned track with no roll cage. Heck it doesn’t even have a roll bar!
Yeeeaaah I don't know about that. I was thinking the same thing. No harnesses either. Heck 20 years ago I was doing mid 12s in a 69' Camaro with just a lap belt at an NHRA track and they waved me off.
Sweet car and super cool build, reminds me of my high-school 66 duce, I would love to pick his brain on set up, I have a clean 64 rambler American I want to do a similar build
Thanks for the opportunity to shoot with you guys! Had a great time!
Really, really nice build, sir 👍😲
How much did it cost to build?

Nice build , perfect mix of old and new
Love the license plate lol 😆 This car is such a beautiful Monster!
In '86 my 1st car was a '66 hardtop Nova. Sweet ride.
Pretty impressive car man. Amazing how well it hooks with a 255. Great build!!

Who doesn’t love a Gorgeous 66 / 67 Chevy II powered by Gods favorite engine 🤤🤓
Sick build, super classy keeping it as stock as possible🙌🏼
Fantastic!!!
Thank you both 🙏
The 66 nova ss is one of my favorite muscle cars

Proper Set-up for a Real Steel Deal Street Rod.. Bravo 👏✊🙌🙏💯🏁🏆💯🇺🇸🎯
Now that is a badass build. I liked how tame the city drivability was. Then it shits and gets!
Love Shawns reaction on this one!

Looks like very fun times were had during this episode! I love that setup!

Shawn, you are a lucky man to check out rides like this, What a beast!

Absolutely agree! Perfectly setup to hook and go.
That nova is bad ass man one of my favorite top 3 for sure
That thing is an absolute ripper. No frills. Just bald eagles screamin' like a rabid demon.
Hope your well Shawn.
Love that supercharger whine!
One of my favorites so far on the channel
I love this car too
What a car ! That thing looks like fun all day long ! 👍😀
Clean simple and fast 👍

Wonderful build, I noticed when he nails it the car comes up nice n square. Another quality build and great video too. Good job ALA!

And you left much of the original look. Super Sweet.
Only complain about this channel is it needs the two thumbs up options one is not enough
No plastic or fiberglass crap, love it.
Nice Chevy II. Rare. Perfect daily driver. Cool livable killer package. 👍👍❤❤😎😎🤑🤑
