SOLO OVERNIGHT in DOMED SNOW HUT (NO Food, NO Water, NO Shelter!) | Wire, Shovel

  • I test my survival skills in an overnight challenge with just some snare wire, water canteen, and a shovel. I will attempt to build a shelter, start a fire, purify water, and catch some wild food to cook. Thanks to Princess Auto for the shovel! www.princessauto.com/en/

Primitive challenge with a few simple basic tools. I will show you how to start a fire and make snow drinkable. Survival is all about making the best of a bad situation. Staying warm and dry is the key to staying alive. After survival is taken care of, it's all about making your situation even better. Finding food, water, and making a shelter is a must to create ultimate survival comfort. I use a saw and basic tools to make a bushcrafter shelter in the Canadian forest using materials around us like tree branches, dried grass, and snow.
I will show you how to make a simple bushcraft survival shelter using just a shovel. I pile up the snow, then use cedar branches to fill in the roof. Then I use the meshing created from the cedar bows as a frame to hold up chunks of snow. This simple shelter can be build in just an hour and protect against the harsh winter wind, snow blizzard, or even rain.
Water can be made drinkable just by boiling, but first you need to build a proper fire. I go over tinder selection such as cattails, dried grass, and dead flowering heads as well as collecting dried woods.

@@grindpalm If it's snow it would melt. Not a huge fan of reflectors, but if you have time, go for it! If had more snow, I might build some walls to protect against wind.

One thing I love about your videos, is learning how to survive in the snow. This is something I have no experience with. I have survived in the desert, the beach and the mountains when it isn't snowing. After all, I grew up in California, and when I was in my teens, wilderness survival was my "hobby". I learned how to build traps, eatable plants and making bows and arrows. Learned how to make fire and build shelters. However I am always learning new tricks. Thanks for teaching me new tricks.

Hi. Thanks, great fun watching you survive, thrive, and be alive. Smoke will be attracted to solid objects, so building a simple wall of sticks, bigger wood, even boughs will direct it away from you and your shelter. It’s worth the effort, as you can collect it with your fire wood or bedding, or dome shelter. Stay good

You guys must have had some awesome parents. Both of you seem to be well-rounded. Awesome shelter. As cold natured as I am I think I could have handled it in that shelter. I know that leaning a log onto a tree is an invitation for squirrels...maybe lay on up on both trees would be an invite. I attempted snaring squirrels on leaning logs but was never successful. I think I was making my loops to big or something. They would always be tripped but the loop bitten off. We never used bait....it seems the leaning log was all the invitation they needed. Love your videos.

I live in Maine close to Zack . I’m way off the main roads , have 30 acres of land on a small river, access to hundreds of acres of prime hunting land. My house is off the grid . My water comes from a natural spring . I have a vegetable garden and fruit trees. I feel pretty confident with my situation, but there’s always room for improvement. I think I have heard you say that , so I watch you and others to learn more. Definitely learned great fishing and trapping skills from you. Thanks for doing what you do , keep it up.

But that's just the mainstream stuff , the French side , and proto-cajun/native American side kicks in and once you've been hungry enough, you can make anything into the gourmet meal whatever God/Simulation/whatever theory meant it to be 🗿👽🐸

Good show ! , I would like to suggest that next time you try that pole snare, put one end on the ground with your first snare about 18-20" off the ground. You said it yourself, squirrels like to climb. Just a suggestion.

Hey wood beard awesome video. Here's a couple things u could have made better. Put thicker sticks to help support the evergreen branches, make a windbreaker wall for the fire cuts the wind blows the fire down to quickly. And have long logs and slowly feed them into the fire as needed. Good luck. Better next time eh.

Setting here at home watching yalls videos makes me realize how much im missing and just how much I love the outdoors expecially with a good friend. Life sometimes gives us roller coasters but really getting back to your roots that are instilled into you heart and soul and like its just your natural deminer in life. What I would say to anyone during irregularity in life such as straying from your path, just hold on hold on to the things that mean the most and one day you may find that path in life again.. To me just seeting here at home is some what of a survival but it's not my path. What you guys do is my love in life and that will always be my true path. The outdoors is just amazing and living in the outdoors im sure would be a great challenge, somehow I feel like meeting in the middle is the best path for us all. With the things we love and are bedded inside us to the modern convences and modern day ways. The rite path is the loved path and also the best path. You guys are amazing in the things yall do; and I'm a fan and very thankful to be able to learn from and watch yalls videos. Expecially since I have no way here to live my life at this point the way I'd actually like to. Just amazing to watch it, y'all bring people in a since to there roots the things they love in just watching and living the adventures through yall. I've learned a few things from watches you guys also, the best thing I believe is makung and setting snares. So thank yall for the adventures and knowledge and getting me to realize where I should be in life besides in this modern day struggle. Got to get back to my roots soon! Amen

Only odd thing was probably a beaver, slapping it's tail. I really thought it was bigfoot throwing rocks in the water.

The weeds you used to start your fire is giant ragweed it grows everywhere hollow for the most part when it’s dead and dried out. To keep the smoke from fire out of your face the best is to put a tall rock on one side of fire and smoke we go up from there but logs set up on one side works also love watching you and your brother doing life
