I love watching Tati handle hair tools because I think she represents a normal person. If she struggles with a device; I know I would too.
I may struggle with it as well. But I don't have the expectation that I'll have it down in a snap. I'll probably have it down like a pro in a months use. I just hope it'll last long, because once I know how to use it, I'll be using it A LOT!!

she is overdramatic and it always seems like she does it wrong on purpose. Any device has a learning curve, even curling your hair with a "normal" curling wand. She needs to give stuff a fair shot.

i feel the same way, BUT i think the slant or like curve in their iron allows for people that can’t grip it well enough, while you twist it to get the curl, to be able to maneuver better. i struggled for some time trying to get the motions along with the gripping down & i think they kinda took most of the work out of it. plus it seems like theres no need to like touch the top of the iron to twist & grip either. idk i’ve never tried the TYME so im just guessing. 🤷🏽♀️ but i see both sides. some people seriously struggle w the flat iron method lol

Hey Tati! We are so excited you got to try the TYME iron out! You're SO close to using the correct technique. If you hold the iron with your thumb behind the light (opposite of how you were holding it) and rotate back, the curls would come out totally different. We also designed the TYME iron to be used with minimal tension, your hair should glide through it like a ribbon when using the correct technique! If you want to take a StyleTYME session it will take about 10 minutes! We provide this for free to all of our customers, as we know there can be a learning curve. But once you get it, there's no going back 😉P.S. We always joke about the heat sleeve looking like a condom too, and it'll save you from some heated situations! 😂

You can curl your hair with any flat iron the same way! You don’t need a $200 tool for this

cupcakexlindsay the instruction video literally shows an example of a vertical section of hair. Vertical is top to bottom, and horizontal is side to side.

This is my GO-TO curling iron!!! It took me a few hours trying to figure it out and following a few youtube videos. The one I liked the best was the one that they talked about "revving the motorcycle" on how to properly hold the Tyme. It is an AMAZING product but a big learning curve that comes with it. This is also the only product that allows my curls to stay for days. Most wands, curlers, flat irons that I use to curl my hair, the hair is flat by the end of the day. I can sleep on the curls that Tyme gives me and wake up the next day with even better curls!!

For someone who is so amazing at makeup, she’s pretty terrible at doing hair with new tools. Holding this one completely wrong and using it wrong which is the same as the Dyson airwrap video. I have one and it’s amazing and so easy to use. If you use it right😂😂

She didn't mean that "it's not working " she stated that if it's your first time you might have a hard time doing it. I know how to do it to my right side but never learned how to do it to the left one. She's not perfect and she doesn't have to be perfect in everything. Maybe this is not her thing.

Sarah Holliday I love this iron. I use this on my air dried kinky hair. I just curl it and it straightens as it curls. The plates make my hair so shiny and the waves last for days!!!

My Lange Aplatir (sp?) I got when it was on sale for $20 does this with much, much less of a learning curve. (I had never used a flat iron, so I had that learning curve 🙄)

I was hoping someone would point this out! Been using my (inexpensive) flat irons to curl my hair for years! I find it super easy, and for anyone who doesn't know, you don't need to have a curved edged to make the curl!

Mezmerized4Life Jay cheap curling irons do not get hot enough for my hair to keep my hair curled. My curls unravel within less than an hour with them. I had some lady who did hair at my house for prom. She used my cheap curling iron. The curls were unraveled a half hour later.

Madison Rowland yes. It does straighten very well. HOWEVER it’s nothing revolutionary. I’d recommend using it as a replacement for a curling iron rather than a straightener. Just because you can find straighteners that are a fraction of the price that does the same job. But you would spend just as much if not more to do the curls this thing can do. I hope that helps.

I have it, and I love it. The most helpful tip I’ve found is to manipulate the iron with motorcycle wrist movements. Keep your thumb behind the power button and rev the motorcycle. Don’t use a lot of pressure. Go slow, and curl small sections at a time for the best results.

I don't think it'd make a difference because she has such long thick hair. If she did just vertical sections half her hair wouldnt be curled I would think. So she split her hair but did vertical sections on the bottom and top?
I have this tool, and LOVE IT. And YES vertical sections make a difference. My hair is super think and nautically wavy. It makes a big difference to do vertical sections!

The fact that I can literally hear the iron scraping along your hair makes me cringe. Yikes. It should not be doing that for how expensive it is.
She's clamping down way too hard and that's why it's scraping and dragging. If you hold it properly it's very smooth.

it is honestly not so easy to figure out how horizontal section differs from vertical when you are doing it on yourself...........
Idk.... its the exact opposite of horizontal.
what does a vertical and horizontal section mean?? like, is it the shape of the section? so when you curl , your iron goes vertical for a vertical section right?
So instead of sectioning pieces from side to side you section them from up and down. You go from top of your head down.

As long as the flat iron/straightener has a curved edge plate (not a sharp corner), it will curl great!

Yup. Me too. I saw someone on QVC doing this like 8 years ago with a $25 flat iron and I've been doing it ever since.
