I was a hairdresser in the late 90s early 2000s and I have trauma from doing these blowouts until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. I swore I’d never do it on my own hair because it was too much damn work and no one’s paying me to do my own hair. But this makes me really nostalgic for that look. Maybe I’ll try this next time I need to look nice.
Now, I do these so fast with my Dyson Air wrap. Worth every penny. I miss Redken's GUTS 10 mousse, but Kenra makes a good one. Then I use IGK Spirulina Spray, use the airwrap big wand, then wrap it it a velcro roller. Wait 20 min to cool, and the spray helps the hair come out bouncy and soft. This girl has gorgeous hair. Oh, that color!
Best blowout tutorial I’ve watched. I can never find someone with the same type of hair as me, fine but thick, can be wavy, can brush out straight etc. and the trick to twist the two front rollers! 🤯
I have learned more in this video on how to style my hair than years of salon tips from my hairdressers, I thought I was using the rollers wrong so I gave it up and after watching you I see is normal, I will give them another try today!! Thank you Kayli! I have your hair type! 🤗🥰
Never take this video down! My mom used to do my hair like this all the time, she passed away when I was 11 and I didn’t get to learn from her. I’ve always loved it! Thank you ❤
Bravo! As a 90s kid this is on point. Thank you! It’s also my favorite hairstyle of all time. And yes, if having a crap day, do this and your day will turn around ✌🏻
I’ve watched dozens of these 90s blowout videos, and this is by far the best. (thank you, Kaylie!) I love how you put the rollers in while you’re drying your hair, and I appreciate the product recommendations. I love how the 90s blowout is so similar to the mid-1960s hairstyles, and I love how in 2023 we’re all turning into 1950s housewives with our rollers and nighttime hair covers! ❤
it seems like such a complicated style to keep doing everyday but i swear doing my hair is so calming it's almost therapeutic to me. i always look good in the end after all that. this was a really good tutorial
Omggg thank you sm!!! It's crazy, you've been my hair and beauty idol for almost a whole year now. I got your haircut a few months ago and since then I've finally perfected my own version of a 90's inspired hair look, and I'm so happy about it. It involves a straightener and round brush, I don't have the patience for blowdryers or rollers yet. I've also been using rosemary oil for about 6 months now, and I feel as though it's been helping. There's countless other tips and methods I've incorporated into my beauty routines from your videos that have made such a huge difference. I used to struggle a lot with shoulder/back acne, greasy roots+dry ends, flat hair, etc. But since finding your channel it's all improved tremendously. Thank you so much for being you and for the content you make, I can't wait to see more :))
I did it! I tried your blowout and it works! I am a 60 year old woman with long grey hair that I will never ever cut. This technique was awesome! Love it!
i love this! would love to see a video on how you take care of your hair throughout the week after doing your blowout. i can never get mine to last, that's something that i struggle with. and i'm sure a lot of people will find it helpful
A quick blast of cooler air on the ends of your hair while you’re flicking it helps keep the curl. Like right before you release it from the brush, not the entire time, instead of holding the brush in the hair.
Okay I love this video so much oh my. It’s so in depth, informative, and not at all rushed like other girls. This helped me understand how to do my hair sooooo well.
Omg, I was literally just checking your account to see if you had a video on how to blow dry professionally with a blowdryer and brush and I see this new video 😱 I'm excited to see this. I love your videos and your hair 😍💕
This is such a thorough, helpful tutorial Kayli! And this is coming from someone who has watched maaaaaybe 1,000 blowout videos and still felt my results were lacking. Thanks and great video!
Just came here from Brad Mondos new blowout video, which actually was disappointing to me. This right here is it 👏 thank you Kayli, this is really helpful and I looove your finished look 💕
I always keep coming back to this one thank you!! I have wavy hair and I’ve just never been good at doing my hair. So growing up I just gave up on it and the only simple thing I could do was straighten it. With this one though uffff. So pretty, makes me feel so good! Pretty with and without rollers and I feel like I’m getting better each time so thank you!!!!!
Im a Marine so I never learned how to "do" my hair outside of a bun, or whatever I was attempting to do in high school lol. This is so helpful for me!! Youre the definition of a girls girl, this slays
This video was finally the one that inspired me to start styling my hair- I bought all the tools, and tried it for the first time today. There's definitely a learning curve, took me a good hour to figure out the curlers part, but once I'm done? My hair said ✨volume✨ I can't believe these are the results after my first try!! Hopefully the time taken to get to the same results will keep decreasing. Thanks a lot for this wonderful tutorial! ❤
I can't justify spending so much time doing my hair simply because I'll have to wash it the next day 😭 5 to 7 days between washes sounds like a dream. Your hair is fantastic 😍
@Bella M thank you for your advice 🌸 I did watch him and unfortunately it changed nothing for me. I tried Redken volume injection shampoo, which he highly recommends for my hair type. I always wash my hair several times. I don't apply any products to my roots after washing, so heavy styling stuff is also not guilty in this case.

the whole time i was like "guuuuuuurl!" and literally clapped at the end 😍oh my gosh what a great tutorial, and your hair looks fabulous! i can't wait to get this technique down. thank you for all the tips
I am so happy you started posting again hope everything is going well for you this video was really detailed I’ve been looking for a video like this because all the other videos are short and not as detailed as this video like this helped me so much because i never can do a 90s blowout without half of the roots being wavy💀
That's really well explained! Thank you so much I only want to add: I saw somegirl who advised to put hair cream mask in your strands just bf blow-drying it coz it makes the hair so nurtured and smooth, and her hair was absolutely amazing!
I have watched your last video doing the exact same thing (but with the hair drying brush) before Christmas and when I tried to do it myself… it “”””kinda””””” worked 😂. The end result was a bit messy, but I was happy with it Now I feel like you have explained SO MUCH BETTER and I can’t wait to try again Thank you so much ♥️
Finally tried this style, first time I’ve tried rollers and the first roller took me 20mins to secure 😅. I love my hair! Although it took me over 2hrs to get all rollers in and my arms ache, I’ll keep practicing. Thank you Kayli! ❤
I've never seen this explained so well. You are a talented teacher as well as being great with hair! I literally did my FIRST EVER proper blow dry thanks to this excellent tutorial. Can't praise you enough!
I JUST DID THIS BLOWOUT AND IT REALLY WORKED!!! I have a lot to practice when it comes to working with the brush and the blow dryer, but my hair looks great and my bangs look amazing (usually my least fav part of my hair)
This was the best tutorial for this I’ve ever seen! I know it’s an older video, but I was searching and found it. We also have very similar waves and texture. I’m excited to try it!
( I know you didn't ask for this but as for someone who uses to wash their hair every 3 day then it getting dirty after 2 to 3 days this helps for me at least but I hope some of this will help you to) Use special shampoo, I use nature box avocado, some shampoos have products in it that will make it get oily faster and that are not goid for your hair ( recommend watching a video about it) , shampoo twice and conditioner only at the ends and use those head massage brushes in the shower, after you style or air dry it , try not to touch it to much your hands are oily and it will oil up your hair much faster , if you need to put it up use a hairclaw clip whatever you call it so your hair can breath still without being tied up. That's how I got from washing my hair every 3 days to once a week, you do have to train your hair into getting used to Not Washing every so day it will take time but it works , I now wash my hair every Sunday and style it then leave it alone mostly, also get your ends trimmed ones in a while it will really help getting your hair healthy.
This is an amazing tutorial, you leave NO room for excuses and give tips and advice on how to get around nearly anything. Only issue is I don’t actually have a round brush- I was gifted a set of rollers and am trying to figure out what to do with them that isn’t too crazy
Love this! But wondering if you work out how do you maintain it? I have to wash my hair every other day and I’m worried using hair products will make it oily
Hi Kayli! Thank you for making videos about hair. You have really inspired me to do proper haircare. I'm still learning how to do the perfect 90's blowout so very excited to try tips from this video
I went to sleep like this. Safe to say that having rollers all around your head is NOT comfortable at all. I tried sleeping regularly on my pillow, and ended up switching to a small pillow so it wouldn’t push the rollers and would only support my head. I don’t think I slept at all. I’ve never had so many rollers all around my head, and take my word to never sleep the way I did. Anyways, the result was. V O L U M E. My hair is naturally flat, so I’m not used to so much volume. This tutorial definitely helped. It was my first time giving myself a blowout with a round brush, this video was exactly what I needed. It gave steps for the whole process and I’m grateful for that. Amazing video❤ never going to sleep with rollers ALL around my head again!
Omg! I was struggling when it comes to blow drying my hair and this really helps me a lot. I have watched a bunch of blow drying techniques for beginners but this is the most helpful.
Goddamn THANK YOU for teaching me how to do a GOOD ASS HAIRSTYLE!!! My mom did NOT teach me how to do my hair as a kid or teen. I never cared for my hair that much because of that. Now I’m almost 30 and after seeing this video, I looked at myself in the mirror and say to myself, “Am I going to be an actual adult now?!” Lmao 😂
This was soo good! We have about the same hair type and I've been learning about the wavy/curly routine but I've been wanting to try a blowout again for the contrast and this is exactly what I needed!
I always immediately put in 2” velcro rollers after blow drying each section with a 2” round brush. I keep the rollers in for an hour. When I take them out my hair is voluminous.
This is extremely helpful, you explained it very well. I always struggled with blow drying my own hair, but this video gave me hope lol. Thank you so much.
You might not know but there is a trick about that brush of yours. If you try to stick out that little seemingly design piece from the bottom you can use that stick to unstuck your hair in case it gets stuck in the brush or you can put it back the other way around if you wanna use that brush for sectioning too .
I wish there was a button for double likes! I have tried to blow dry my hair many times and failed, this video is helpful, will try to blow dry my hair again

the whole time i was like "guuuuuuurl!" and literally clapped at the end 😍oh my gosh what a great tutorial, and your hair looks fabulous! i can't wait to get this technique down. thank you for all the tips
The rat tail comb JUST BLOWED MY MIND, I have thick hair and I’ve gotten it stuck before so thank you so much !! 💜
I am so happy you started posting again hope everything is going well for you this video was really detailed I’ve been looking for a video like this because all the other videos are short and not as detailed as this video like this helped me so much because i never can do a 90s blowout without half of the roots being wavy💀
That's really well explained! Thank you so much
I only want to add: I saw somegirl who advised to put hair cream mask in your strands just bf blow-drying it coz it makes the hair so nurtured and smooth, and her hair was absolutely amazing!
I have watched your last video doing the exact same thing (but with the hair drying brush) before Christmas and when I tried to do it myself… it “”””kinda””””” worked 😂. The end result was a bit messy, but I was happy with it
Now I feel like you have explained SO MUCH BETTER and I can’t wait to try again
Thank you so much ♥️
Finally tried this style, first time I’ve tried rollers and the first roller took me 20mins to secure 😅. I love my hair! Although it took me over 2hrs to get all rollers in and my arms ache, I’ll keep practicing. Thank you Kayli! ❤
Girl, i’ve never understood how to properly blow dry my hair and your video helped so much!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤
This makeup looks so good on you! Thank you for all these very clear instructions. Plus you're funny.
I have a lot to practice when it comes to working with the brush and the blow dryer, but my hair looks great and my bangs look amazing (usually my least fav part of my hair)
my arms is already tired💀
This is the tutorial I have been looking for for so long! I learned so much. Honestly.
i love my hair like this. omg. i’ve been trying hairstyles for MONTHS now and this one makes me look so good. Thank you so much for the tutorial ❤
This was the best tutorial for this I’ve ever seen! I know it’s an older video, but I was searching and found it. We also have very similar waves and texture. I’m excited to try it!
who like me has to wash her hair every 2 days?🥲
( I know you didn't ask for this but as for someone who uses to wash their hair every 3 day then it getting dirty after 2 to 3 days this helps for me at least but I hope some of this will help you to)
Use special shampoo, I use nature box avocado, some shampoos have products in it that will make it get oily faster and that are not goid for your hair ( recommend watching a video about it) , shampoo twice and conditioner only at the ends and use those head massage brushes in the shower, after you style or air dry it , try not to touch it to much your hands are oily and it will oil up your hair much faster , if you need to put it up use a hairclaw clip whatever you call it so your hair can breath still without being tied up.
@@taehyungkim4267I use a hard water clarifying shampoo from L’oreal and it is THE BEST shampoo as someone w really oily hair and its only like 8$
You need to wear a bonnet to sleep (if you don’t already)
@cherrysIushie yes or satin pillow cases seem to help too
I'm an every day gal .-. i try the next day hair thing but my head produces too much oil too often 😣
The audible 'ooooh's and 'ahhh's I hear myself making during this video...this is so good!!!
This is honestly the best tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you! Your hair looks gorgeee
This is an amazing tutorial, you leave NO room for excuses and give tips and advice on how to get around nearly anything. Only issue is I don’t actually have a round brush- I was gifted a set of rollers and am trying to figure out what to do with them that isn’t too crazy
for anybody wondering she asked her hair dresser (in this order)
Long round layers face framing and Long curtain bangs !!
Hope this helps! 😁
You make this look so easy! I've tried this twice now and it's a full circus every time and I'm the clown.
gettting better?
HOW TO DO THE PERFECT 90'S BLOWOUT? Step 1: Have perfect hair. Step 2: Whatever Kayli says
Omg! I was struggling when it comes to blow drying my hair and this really helps me a lot. I have watched a bunch of blow drying techniques for beginners but this is the most helpful.
You did it very effortlessly 😍 i can watch you doing all day . I definitely try it on my hair .. it really help
Goddamn THANK YOU for teaching me how to do a GOOD ASS HAIRSTYLE!!! My mom did NOT teach me how to do my hair as a kid or teen. I never cared for my hair that much because of that. Now I’m almost 30 and after seeing this video, I looked at myself in the mirror and say to myself, “Am I going to be an actual adult now?!” Lmao 😂
it really takes time. but the result is great. absolutely worth it
This was soo good!
This is one of the best videos on this out there. The tips and tricks. Thank you.
Girl this Ben worked for my thick 4c hair! Thank you!!
this is the best tutorial i’ve found for doing my hair like this!!
I just got a 90s layered face framing haircut and this is exactly what i needed :)
i’m usually just making my hair not frizzy with a blowout but ima start trying curls because it sounds fun
Your one of the only TH-camrs I can actaully stand to watch with beauty tutorials ! You have a real authentic vibe it’s so raw and likeable !🙌🤍 great video Thanks !
You make it look SO easy😭😭😭😭😭
I've gone down such a 90's blowout rabbit hole and this is THE best video! Thank you! x
