The Arnold overhead defensive block on horseback at 2:02, then to turn horse 180 deg to respond with an attacking strike is amazing stunt work. To make it seem real as well is not easy. This scene was so well done.
@@ashashby678 Dude Malak comes in clutch a few times and straight up assassinates guys. He wasn't a coward, he was just low level. At the end of the movie Conan powerlevels him by letting him get the last hit on Dagoth and he insta-dings level cap. From that day on was the Sigma Male of Shadizar.
One thing I notice people never mention, Sven's horse rears and he leans in and holds it like its an after thought, based on that alone, you can tell he is very comfortable riding horses in this and completely controls his mount. Awesome.
I agree 100% the location for filming was beautiful, and he really did an amazing job with the sword play and training especially considering how big he was :-) it brings back lots of memories.
I truly hope you're joking. My preference would be for a dash of reality over theatricality. Love to see, even if only once, the protagonist take the obvious opportunity and hack at a prone leg when their opponent goes down. Instant loss of mobility and serious blood loss, meaning the protagonist can then circle and hack away at more vulnerable areas until the bad guy is finished, or leave them to bleed out. It's probably the most ridiculous convention in movie sword fights, that the good guy never goes for an obvious route to victory.
Conan the destroyer isn’t a bad movie, it’s just not at all like the first, yes the first is an untouched masterpiece and is levels above destroyer, but destroyer is still a good sequel and I like how it dives into the fantasy elements more in the world of Conan
I’m almost certain the last guard is Sven-Ole Thorsen, Arnie’s good buddy and one of the brother enforcers from the first movie! That’s probably why his face is covered.
Sven Thorsen co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger on a lot of movies. He also had roles in Predator, The Running Man, Red Heat, Raw Deal, and Last Action Hero.
@@jw1049: Yeah. Imagine in the castle they find Dagoth's horn; *Conan:* "Zula, Akiro, Malak, I need to speak with you." And then in secret he's all: "Taramis planned it from the start. We get the horn, Bombaata kills us, and take the girl and horn back to Taramis."
I was about 8 when this movie first came out. To me, at that point, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. Many years later, I still considered her during the 80's and 90's to be one of the most gorgeous women to walk the Earth.

I love this movie, but Arnold’s face when he squares off against Sven vs. his face when he squares off against Rexor in Barbarian is all you need to know
Holdup... So Thorgrim survived, renounced Set, converted to worshipping Dagoth, and is working for a witch queen!?😂 That helmet can't hide your face, Thorgrim.😂
My brother and I - I did more than he did, as he was a fan of Rodeo & American Football at the time - would re-enact many scenes from this movie - *This scene more than the rest* - as children. Nowadays, I can't stand the thought of any of my biological family, unless my "Parents" disowned them because of stupid childhood grudges
I heard Sven sword skills were way better than Arnolds so they edited it which makes me think that’s the reason they gave him that giant hammer in first movie.
These scenes are so much better than the 'special effects' scenes. It could've been such a great movie. If only they had left the rubber monsters out :-(
A common misconception with younger audiences is how they perceive the sword fights amongst the barbarians. The swings are slow because those swords weighed as much as 20 pounds or more. To wield a sword that heavy you had to almost literally be a powerlifter. And if those blades found their mark, body parts were going to be severed.
Hate to say it but this is a pretty boring and quite a silly fight... Love Arnie but the choreography is pretty trashy... Conan would never stand around flashing his sword waiting for his opponent. He was decisive and aggressive, moving like a panther to the attack always.
The Arnold overhead defensive block on horseback at 2:02, then to turn horse 180 deg to respond with an attacking strike is amazing stunt work. To make it seem real as well is not easy. This scene was so well done.
That's true, I'm ameteur/advanced horse rider and that's not easy at all, but that's another kind of trained horse as well
The comic relief guy is goofed on, but remember is Conan’s buddy. Bro hopped on a horse a double stabbed the rider clean

and the fact that Swen probably weighted around 300lbs!!!
Good point! And yeah, considering Ole-Thorsen's size, that must've been one powerful horse.
The more scenes I watch of this movie the more I realize how underappreciated it was.
I don' t care what other people say, this is one the most amazing swordfight scenes EVER!

That music is legendary
The whole soundtrack is outstanding.
Grace Jones' facial expressions.... priceless. 😂😂🤣
She's awesome
She was really into it. :D
The woman scared me growing up still does 🤣
Now we don't get original characters and behaviors like that because everything is "cringe", "cheesy" whatever.

It is him for sure. The character's name is "Togra" and he is credited as such in the movie.
Yeah, he had a good final fight against Arnie in this film, which wasn't the case in the first movie.
Thorgrim's brother! That fight was something personal.
I had just thought that!
Sven Thorsen co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger on a lot of movies. He also had roles in Predator, The Running Man, Red Heat, Raw Deal, and Last Action Hero.
Bombaata reasoning of “I thought you were going to hurt the girl” made/makes zero sense. Conan LITERALLY just saved her. LOL
Well, it's not like he had time to come up with a better excuse.
Conan: Does something smell like bullshit?
Agreed, that super stupid comment he made : I thought you were going to hurt the girl, is nothing but Super Stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God i love his action movies from this era. Conan 1 and 2, Red Sonja, are literally my favorite movies
I love that malak scored a kill
A brutal one at that
Grace Jones is great in this movie!
Conan's main adversary in this clip has a distinct Predator type look
I love the Conan music..!!!

4:07 - Conan's bullshit detector at level 10.
I forgot how cool the music was in the fight scenes!
My daughter gives me that same look that Conan gave mombata. When he says “I thought you were going to hurt the girl.”
Grace Jones was awesome in this movie just reeked of bad ass
Conan movies are legendary. This makes me want to play Skyrim for some strange reason. 🤔🤣
Conan was great movie for 80s

Grace Jones was the best part of this movie! Ripped right out of the books.
