Ximango Motor Glider: Flight Vlog | #1

Last solo before Jack takes his commercial glider add-on to freshen up his landings.
The Ximango AMT200S Motorglider is a powered sailplane with a Rotax engine providing 99 hp.
When it is time to be a sailplane, the engine can be shut off, the propeller fully feathered, and the main landing gear retracted. In this configuration the sailplane has a 30:1 glide ratio, 31:1 with the optional wing tips.
Between the minimal fuel burn of sub-5gph, powered cruise speeds challenging a Cessna 172, and a respectable glide capability when there is lift; this is a wonderful machine to travel long distances for very little cost.
These gliders were made in Brazil by Grupo Aeromot and some of them, including ours, were used by the US Air Force in the early 2000's.
We haven't found much on youtube in the way of motor gliders so hopefully these videos and comments can be helpful for anyone wanting to learn more about these awesome aircraft.
