This song will always remind me of the fall of the Berlin wall. It was such an unexpected world changing period. The significance of it and speculation about what would happen next. Incredible we were fascinated....

They have so many bangers and beautiful songs over the years. Their early stuff like “ Life’s like a river” or the banger “No one like you”.

The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. They nailed it, (including the whistle) I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that.
    I LOVE the Scorpions.
I rock with them, but this my favorite song.

it was a huge part of the end of the Cold War. I grew up during the Cold War, and people all over the world watch this event happen. It was very historically significant.

When the Wall fell, I was a freshman in college. Our class watched the events on television. We couldn’t believe that it was actually taking place.
      I will never forget it.

This song perfectly captured a moment in time. A moment when, the Human Race, lifted our heads up. And for the first time in decades, dared to imaging there might lie anything in our futures, besides Nuclear Annihilation.

It’s one of my favorite songs, describing the world at the time of its writing….. I refer to the winds of change today as people wake up from the stupidity that is the perverted delusional ideologies that are pervasive in western culture today

The fall the Berlin Wall that started the liberation of so many Eastern European countries was monumental and so memorable. This and Berlin by Barclay James Harvest (the first Western group to be allowed to play in a united Germany) are the Two anthems of this.

Have you forgotten that Scorpions have an exoskeleton. Hard exterior, but soft inside. There's meaning in all things in life. Everything is not surface level as we are trained to behave

Scorpions have been cited as a principal influence on the 1980s hard rock and heavy metal scenes, including artists such as Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Skid Row, Cinderella, Doro, Helloween, Hanoi Rocks, and Yngwie Malmsteen. They had many great songs and very popular at the time

The CIA had nothing to do with this song, that is like saying Ronald Reagan's speech in Berlin brought down the Soviet Union. Klaus Meine was 41 in 1989 he probably never thought the Berlin wall would come down during his lifetime, only the germans can truly understand what it is like to have a city that is divided between 2 countries/political systems.

Scorpions r from (West) Germany and the members grew up under the shadow of World War II and the atrocities that the nazis did to the world... It was their grandparents' generation that fell into that ideology, so the Scorpions disavowed it... They saw in real time the consequences of their grandparents' actions as Germany was occupied by Allied & Soviet forces and the country was split to liberal West and communist East Germany... and Scorpions grew up during that separation.
Scorpions always had a message of unity, peace and tolerance... They wanted their music to reach as many parts of the world. The toured all of Europe... then Asia... finally, they came to N. America in 1979... eventually Australia and S. America.
'Wind of change' was inspired by Scorpions playing Russia for the first time in 1988... then 1989... a country that had banned rock n' roll music for decades. It was a testament to how music can heal divisions between nations... Germany in World War II had killed 27 million Russians/ Soviets... so, for a German band to be popular in Russia some 40+ years later was something the Scorpions were grateful for.

There were too many themes put together for a young soul.
The fall of the Berlin Wall, Demonstrations in communist States, Pollution of Environment by Oiltankers and other Stuff....
On my opinion, of course, I am this generation and Europian, we understand this. And I hope, one day your generation will follow the right way. (Btw. Electric cars are not) Said as a Technician.

God how I hate this song. What sappy simplistic drivel. I hate the sound, and I hated the whole power ballad trend of the eighties. This might be the ultimate power ballad, which means it may be the worst song ever. It’s amazing that the same band that made The Zoo and Blackout also churned out this contrived garbage.
