When the Wall fell, I was a freshman in college. Our class watched the events on television. We couldn’t believe that it was actually taking place. I will never forget it.
This song perfectly captured a moment in time. A moment when, the Human Race, lifted our heads up. And for the first time in decades, dared to imaging there might lie anything in our futures, besides Nuclear Annihilation.

Scorpions always had a message of unity, peace and tolerance... They wanted their music to reach as many parts of the world. The toured all of Europe... then Asia... finally, they came to N. America in 1979... eventually Australia and S. America. 'Wind of change' was inspired by Scorpions playing Russia for the first time in 1988... then 1989... a country that had banned rock n' roll music for decades. It was a testament to how music can heal divisions between nations... Germany in World War II had killed 27 million Russians/ Soviets... so, for a German band to be popular in Russia some 40+ years later was something the Scorpions were grateful for.
