I have had complements from many strangers. The sleek back design is very luxurious and classy. The 2020 holds up for its value. The quality from Hyundai is just fantastic. You are buying a quality vehicle. I previously sold Hyundais. They are a really great product for dollar value. The brand is trustworthy comparable to Toyota lovers who do not have the budget. Once again, Hyundais are a great budget brand where you do not have to make significant trade offs.
The handle is for the *front passenger* ‼️ A girlfriend came along for a ride and IMMEDIATELY went “... WOW! Something for me to grab when you take sharp corners!” At least she got it.

This video is old, but dang I still love the new model. I have a '22 Elantra and I can't get over the look. And even with the base trim you get a lot of features for the price. I definitely have my eyes on the Unlimited trim.

If my 2011 Subaru Impreza ever dies (almost 300,000 miles with proper maintenance and zero major issues) my next car will probably be an Elantra. However, I’m tempted to buy my friend’s 2021 Elantra right now before he trades it in because he unexpectedly has twins on the way and needs a larger vehicle now.
We just went from a 20 to a 21 and we love it, the passenger side handle thing is kind of weird but more of a nit pick than anything. Thanks for the video.
Just bought a 2020 Elantra SEL with 865 miles on it (Lease return) last week after totaling my 2009 Hyundai 3 Door Accent which was a great car. Gotta get used to the technology. My 2009 Accent had roll up windows and zero technology. Great car for running around town when your other vehicle is Tundra! I love the Tundra but it like gas stations.
I fell in love with and own a 2018 Elantra Sport DCT. For me the styling and wheels are so much of an improvement on the base Elantra, youd heardly recognize it as an Elantra. I had already rebadged my car as an N LINE as of the release of the Elantra hatchback for 2018 being that they shared the same powertrain. If you are looking for something fun to drive that looks like a Korean S4, and you don't mind a quirky sequential automatic, definitely try to find one these rare 2018 models to test drive. The very torquey 1.6t engine will impress you, the suspension tune seems near perfect, and add a conical air filter and you feel like you could smoke nearly any other unsuspecting pedestrian vehicle.
My choice is the older version. Some radical design features are prone to lose their appeal in a few years' time while the simpler classical lines live on successfully.
I’ve got a 2019 Limited Elantra. There are only a few things I like more in the older generation. The integration of the infotainment with the dash (not a fan of the floating tablet style), the design of the DRL (makes it stand out more), and the trunk release button being integrated in the Hyundai logo lol. Other than that, the new Elantra walks in, up, around , and ALL OVER the old generation in basically every category. But will I be switching? No lol the old design is fine enough for the money. But if you are in the market for a new Elantra and aren’t an owner of the past two generations, I’d say go for the new generation!
I own a 2018 and love it. Aside from the nicer interior of the 2021, I think mine looks a lot better outside. I would not call the 2021 a handsome or pretty car. I also prefer the two tone black and beige interior, which is no longer available.
New elantra is a huge step up especially in the limited trim. My girl just got a 2021 limited and it's alot of car for $26k. 2 huge screens. Basically drives itself. Leather. Cars cheap inside very cheap. Great design but hard plastics everywhere. Litterally nothing is soft touch other then the top of the dash. But design and tech wise it's amazing

That grab handle is for my wife who can't get into the passenger seat of my Smart Car without reaching way over, and grabbing the steering wheel and pulling herself into the car. The 2021 model is perfect for her. Oh, she can't drive any more because her left knee is locked straight, and the right one can only barely be bent.
I’m not sure if it does on the Elantra. I have a 2020 sonata and it does not. My parents have a 2019 Santa Fe ultimate that does shut off at the red light. But there’s also a button to permanently disable that

I can understand your apprehension. The 2017+ hasn't had any fire issues. Not yet anyway. It's an entirely different car from the previous generation. What you're talking about affected the previous generation and only particular years, not the whole generation. $4500 off is a big discount. You can probably squeeze another $500 off too, since the rebate is from the manufacturer, not the dealer. When I bought my 2018, the rebate was $3000 off and I negotiated another $500 off. Keep in mind even if you were to spend a lot more to buy a more reputable vehicle like Civic or Corolla, there are never any guarantees they will be problem free. I've heard of people having major problems with those too.
@@jaxandmore440 as for toyota it was 3400 2019 hatchbacks and myself I have a 2020 corolla LE and it has been perfect so far. Apart from that toyota cvts have been great since the beginning of 2014 and as for honda yes I do agree about the oil dilution and its still an issue to some degree which is why I don't have a honda in the first place. I know people have different opinions when it comes to brands, but me personally its toyota first then mazda 2nd.... honda is a distant third. The reason why toyota is number 1 for me is the absence of turbo engines.

Toyotas are generally good cars with very few reliability concerns compared to other brands, but I find Toyota cuts costs on their interiors, where the owner spends all their time, compared to pretty much every other brand, including Hyundai. I drove a 2020 Corolla rental for several days on vacation and although I liked how smooth the powertrain was and how comfortable it was for long trips, it was much more appliance-like and the overall build and materials quality felt thin and cheap compared to what I'm accustomed to with my Elantra. The interior design is also lacking function and practicality in comparison. Best way to put it is, the 2018 Elantra feels more substantial and more premium. Will my Elantra be as reliable? Probably not. For the time I do own it though, it's a much more satisfying car to drive and I saved myself a solid $3k-$4k when I bought it instead of the Corolla. I did shop around for both at the time. I have no experience with Honda or Mazda, so I can't comment on them.

Sure the 21 edges out the 20, but you always have to factor in the price difference. I know where a 2020 SEL is for $14,000 with 7500 miles. I doubt I could get deal like that on a 21

The 2021 looks like a Shark. I hate the back of the 2021. And I like the older interior model much better. When I go on long trips, my passenger usually takes care of the music etc...with the new one that’s not easy with that dumb wall.

And also...the 2.0l engines in the 20 and 21 are the same...your review claims new??? Only changes was a hybrid 1.6l option with a 32KW electric assist. The 20 is a great car. The new styling looks to much like the larger sonata on the 21.

The 2021 looks like a Shark. I hate the back of the 2021. And I like the older interior model much better. When I go on long trips, my passenger usually takes care of the music etc...with the new one that’s not easy with that dumb wall.
