      I'm really impressed with the new Honda Accord. Exceptional gas mileage for how much pep it has with the 1.5 turbo. Features Honda's lane keeping and adaptive cruise control. Styling is good mix of generic and sporty. Plenty of space for people or cargo. Very reliable thus far too, as with all my old Hondas.
      I'm very impressed for a daily at 24k...

      I just got a SEL 2021 with Electric Shadow color. It looks like primer gray body, but it really shows all the lines and goes really nice with the black rims can't wait to pick it up in couple days... I'm literally getting it fresh off the boat, not even test driven just bought it. In this chip shortage car market wasn't paying price of A new car for a used car with 100k miles on it.... like wtf. Be first time in my life driving a car off a dealership lot and the value doesn't depreciate just goes up.

    Hyundai/Kia’s progress over the last decade or so is pretty incredible. So much respect for their growth and accomplishment. The styling of this new Elantra isn’t to my personal taste, but I applaud Hyundai for taking risks. If I was looking for a new car for around this price range, my choice would actually probably be right next to this on the dealer lot, though - Veloster R-Spec! You’d enjoy it. I rented one of these for a road trip (including mountain driving), it was impressive overall, and what really stood out was how comfortable the driver's seat and position is on a long drive. I'm 6'4" and some small cars have uncomfortable seats for me. Also the CVT didn't have that rubber-band feel they usually do, it felt like an ordinary transmission. I'm a Mazda guy, I like more road feel and tighter steering, and the Elantra felt good on the road, not that spongy feel you sometimes get when small cars are trying to feel like big cars.

    I absolutely love the new Elantra! It's bold and daring. I don't like anything that is bland or basic. I currently owned a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. To be honest, Hyundai was never my first choice when it comes to car shopping. But what attracts me about my current Elantra is the features for the money and the warranty. To me, my current Elantra gives me Audi-esqe/VW vibes. Which makes sense, because the current VP of Hyundai Albert Bierman, used to be the head designer for VW and Audi. I have friend of mine who drives a 2017 Toyota Corolla LE. He was shocked with all the features my car has. My car has heated seats and it's cloth! Sunroof, blinspot monitoring, and push start. When I showed him the smart trunk feature, it was all over! I always say this about Hyundai/Kia. They were the first to integrate tech features in their cars. They were the first to bring in panoramic sunroofs in an economy car segment. Couldn't even get that in a Honda or Toyota. I'm looking to trade my car in end of the year for a fully loaded 2021 Elantra Limited. That ambient lighting and that full Mercedes like dash is what sold me. Not to mention that fastback sport styling that makes the Corolla and even the upcoming new Civic looks vanilla.

  • @bfielder9097
    @bfielder9097 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I always appreciate your reviews and how you review the car properly and review the car for what it is. Too many major car reviewers (one in particular a certain (Color) Line Reviews, talks about every car like it should be a Porsche or some kind of a sports car when he's driving a Hyundai Elantra or a Kia Seltos.

    • @ddg2256
      @ddg2256 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also can't stand said persons reviews. He's not very objective, he talks way too fast and stumbles over his words, and doesn't seem to understand the target buyer of anything that's not a sports car. I admittedly kinda like his reviews on sports cars, but on things like a Elantra or minivan or whatever, those reviews are pretty bad.

    I own the N-Line version with the 1.6T and it's genuinely a blast to drive. I'm an Uber driver and I cannot go without a day where someone asks if this is really a Hyundai Elantra lol. Nearly every person also says it's a nice car as well. N line is quicker and nicer and cheaper then the civic si and isn't boring looking like one. I watched this video because I keep getting asked the difference between mine and the base model and I'm never to sure what's different but besides a larger motor and a 6 spd manual transmission it looks like some red stitching and a nicer steering wheel are really the only differences. The N line is only a few thousand more then this SEL and has a good aftermarket support community already along with only requiring 87 for a turbo charged vehicle. I recommend this car to literally every body who is interested in knowing about my car more then just what it is.

    I have a 2017 Santa Fe Sport, not the best vehicle in the world for a driving enthusiast but it has enough to be sporty. With my Santa Fe if I put it into Sport or ECO mode, it changes the shift points as well as the pedal feel/reaction since it's drive by wire. I typically keep it in Schport mode and because I don't have a CVT I will also put it into manual shift mode, typically using it for down shifting. Hyundai has come a long way from its beginnings with the Excel and having driven one I can confirm that those things were garbage. Hyundai (and by proxy Kia) has elevated it's game & is making cars that people want to drive. My first reaction to seeing this Elantra was , "Wow, that looks great!". My wife's 3rd Gen Accent has 141K on it & is still going, though we will probably look into replacing it and this looks like a good contender for being the replacement. I love that it has the blind spot warning light in the driver's mirror (though that may be mandated standard equipment just like backup cameras).
    Also, love the fact you went to Blue Hills for your test drive, some great roads up there that more people need to just enjoy! Also, that tri axle driver probably got cited for dumping half his load on 128...

    Looks like you have some different/better options setups in the US than Canada. Here to get the dual screens you need to go all the way to the top plus add the tech package, but that looks like a somewhat smaller screen here. That option would be nice to bring down to the Preferred at least in the 2022 refresh.

    I completely agree with you about the Subaru Legacy. I took one test drive with a base model 2020 Legacy and my parents in the back and with two people plus the driver, that drivetrain was absolutely GUTLESS. We found the Crosstrek 2.0i Limited with the 147hp engine much nicer to drive because it felt like it could get out of its own way. Now three months into the new car search, I'm going to be looking at this same trim Elantra and a Tucson.

    It seems like a nice car overall and good bang for your buck. I prefer the exterior design of my 2018, but the interior of this new 2021 looks very upmarket. I also like that they gave the back seat more room, as mine is seriously lacking headroom with its coupe-like roofline. I do wish they would start making sedans function as liftbacks though for better practicality since they are making the decklids so short these days.

    I'm currently renting a 2021 Soul with the same engine and transmission as the Elantra and it's made me want to look into the Elantra. I enjoy driving the snot out of a basic car, it's the whole "more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow." I don't really like the exterior, but the features and interior really look good. Especially at $20k, which is what the SEL with Convenience package is selling for where I live.

    I currently have a 2011 Elantra and been looking to get a new car. I've had 3 Hyundai's already. I am considering getting a Hyundai Kona for the AWD because of the winters (I live in the area you are filming this) However I saw these new elantras and it has had me second guessing. I just don't love having a smaller FWD car in the snow. Great review......Mcgovern Hyundai was actualy where i was considering going for test drives

    Most entertaining review of this car I've seen. I agree the reviews are much more useful when you get a real production model off the dealer lot instead of a press car.
    Someone needs to tell Hyundai black wheels are not a good look on this type of car. They need to switch to a conventional silver finish pronto!

    As soon as you said CVT, I dismissed this car. I drove a rental car with a CVT once, and it was awful! It's like driving with a manual but a worn-down clutch that keeps slipping! Very annoying! @8:10 you can hear what I'm talking about here, it's like the engine is struggling just to get the car going from a stop sign.

    I’ve seen a few in person and they actually don’t look bad. It’s very apparent Hyundai was aiming directly at the civic crowd with this elantra. This looks like it’s the successor to the 10th gen civic in all honesty. I think Honda went the right direction with the new civic. The only thing I don’t care for is the taillights, Honda should’ve kept the c shaped taillights. But besides that, the new civic looks more like Hondas from the past but I can see why people say it looks like jetta. The Elantra is a relatively unique looking car but it isn’t pretty by any means. I think the civic will stay the sales king and it’s styling will be a huge part of that. Many people hated the looks of the 10th gen so I don’t know how many are gonna like this new Elantra.
