Nice review! I always wonder why Osprey doesnt differentiate models by the year. For example this is the only review to date that shows the 2021 model.
All prior models have smaller side pockets (big complaint by all the owners that got their water bottles dropped or lost) and they have a vertical external pocket zipper. I researched these backpacks a lot before purchasing and I am currently awaiting my blue one to arrive.

Glad you enjoyed the review. It is a bit weird that they don't have year by year videos especially if there have been updates to the model... they are very busy people though.

Totally agree, they should highlight the differences from the previous version and the best ones with the new one. I have the previous model (from 2019) and the changes with this 2021 version are:
      - The old version daylite plus measured height and width 46 x 26 and this new one measures 48 x 28 cm.
      - The previous one had a small vertical pocket and now it is horizontal and objects do not fall (and perhaps a larger one, I do not know for sure).
      - The side pockets are now larger and the bottles no longer fall out.
      - Airspeed back padding is more comfortable and I also think shoulder padding is more comfortable too.
      - The medium pocket appears wider and has better quality compartments and they appear deeper.

I have a bigger bag and have been looking for something around 20L for road trips to and from away games. 18L bags seem a bit small and I have a 25L that’s a bit too large for my needs. Nice informative video.

I'll be travelling to Central Europe for about five months at the end of February. I have spent countless hours researching day packs - I think this one will get the job done.
I have a question: As a musician, I was also wondering if I bought a travel case for my saxophone, would I be able to travel with this bag as my personal item or is it considered a carry-on??

Are the water bottle pockets better on this version? A big downside of my old Daylite plus is the poor water bottle pockets

I'm a bag nerd and I own this bag in blue. Really cool 20 liter bag. Very light. I imagine not the kind you can really abuse. Let me me say that it holds a large laptop so well, especially considering its size. The bag, in general, holds a lot of stuff. Again, it's not a big bag so you aren't going to pack a jacket and gym clothes and a laptop and a lunch. This is a pack for someone who isn't carrying a lot. I actually bought it for Disneyland trips, and ended up EDC-ing it quite a bit. It's also a really good looking bag. This is a nice bag, but keeps in mind it's like $70. It feels like a $70 bag. It's not a Tom Bihn or Evergoods or other boutique bag made of super high quality materials. It's an inexpensive, lightweight bag. It is what it is, so don't be surprised when things like the key leash feel cheap and like it was an afterthought. Ever used a Tom Bihn key leash? Yeah, even those feel high quality.

Picked up last year's model with the vertical zip on the "plus" pocket at Sierra (though only one of the three stores in my area had it) for $30 and it's a gem. Well made, fits well and is easily adjustable, and holds plenty for a day hike, even if you pack layers for changing weather. Even has the little red clip for a key ring in the top pocket like this one.
I put a Camelback reservoir in mine because they were on sale at REI, and it works like a charm. The pocket for a hydration reservoir is clearly labelled. Unless you have a pack that can't accept a hydration bladder of some sort, I can't see why anyone would use water bottles.
As for the vertical zipper on the front pocket that makes it the Plus version, it can't be accessed while you have the pack on, and if you're going to drop whatever you put in there (They say it's meant for a phone or wallet) I'd imagine you'd drop it regardless of the orientation of the zipper.
At first I thought a clip for a hydration pack hose would be a good addition, but I run the hose under the shoulder strap, and it falls right into where I'd place it anyway, and stays out of the way without dangling or bouncing about.
Absolutely chuffed over the purchase and would buy again, recommend to a friend, or even give as a gift.

Definitely NOT. It fits the standard size iPad (10"-11") but not any full sized computers, plus it has zero padding to protect electronics. It is perfect for day hikes or if you don't mind being that person carrying around a pack instead of a satchel, but not good as a school or work pack.
