    This is one of the best videos I’ve ever watched for making a piece of jewelry. You’re an excellent teacher.

    This is just brilliant! I'm new to all of this silver smithing business, but I do some rockhounding whenever I get a free minute, and just this weekend I bought a second hand lortone trim saw and a lortone cabochon grinder with expandable drums, to work some magic on my rocks. After a quick google search on setting stones, I realised that I'm gonna have to do this myself, and now here I am. So grateful that I found this video so soon into my journey of learning. Thank you!

    Thanks Chuck,
    I am finally getting close to retirement and I have always wanted to have my own jewelry studio and have the time and focus for projects.
    Life took me in a different work direction but I have always had a passion for metal and stone work.
    Thanks for the education I will definitely be incorporating your tips into my work process.
    Greg

    Have you ever thought about creating a custom 3d printed mold to form your square strips perfectly. The leather could even be part of the mold. You may even be able to use some compliant mechanism part to do your clamping for you.

      ...and ancient civilizations in Mexico & the southwest of the USA were also inlaying long before Europeans came to those shores. It's safe to say that he's not a history teacher, but he never claimed to be.
      He is a terrific artisan & teacher in his field, though & should be respected for that.

    Ok not to be mean but your giving way to much information and not staying on topic. Your talking down to people and the fact that you didn't pick up on that during the editing of this video is telling. Before you get offended and think that you didn't, here's an example of what I mean "its hard to pick things up from a flat surface"

    • @meggymoo6565
      @meggymoo6565 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He is not talking down to people. His audience ranges from beginners to more advanced. As a teacher, you cannot assume that everyone know the basics. Also, the way he did it was not offensive. I happen to like all of the additional information.

    • @vapermom
      @vapermom หลายเดือนก่อน

      *you're giving *too much
      We all make mistakes. You didn't pick up on your spelling mistakes before posting & normally I wouldn't have pointed them out, but when you criticize someone else, you leave yourself open to criticism. Maybe he always talks as if his class is filled with beginners or maybe he was nervous. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things because he shared a vast wealth of knowledge in a short period of time & I, for one, am grateful for that.

    • @vapermom
      @vapermom หลายเดือนก่อน

      BTW, you also used the wrong "your" (it should have been ,"you're") in the sentence, "Your talking down to people..." which is telling me that you probably always make this mistake.
