In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

It honestly makes it so much funnier for me 😂 Alex is like the most perfect punching-bag ever, and his commitment to that, while also being the puppeteer just makes him a goddamn comedic legend. ❤️
@@kris242 and I think that is integral to both the enduring success of the show in the uk, and its failure in the usa. self-effacing humour does well in the commonwealth, not so well in america. So many of the best bits come from very successful entertainers being absolutely shit at an objectively stupid task, and their ability to either adapt and succeed or find humour in their failure.
I'm appreciative that whenever Greg Davies speaks about the show, he always gives credit to Alex for being the real leader of the show and the production.
Really love that they're still in character even in award shows. Absolutely deserved.

@@robbpeppertree Every interview I've seen for Greg and Alex, this is how they act. Alex is notoriously shy, which is why Greg loves putting him through this kind of thing. They really don't "play it up" as much as you might think.

I always love how Greg says "Little Alex Horne", as if "LIttle" is an honorific like Doctor or Mister.
Especially as Alex is 6'2... Really puts it into perspective how big Greg is
I cannot be arsed, but I really want someone to do a compilation of the start of every show, where Greg first introduces Alex. Just to see how the words "Little Alex Horne!" become more shrill and manic over time.

Makes me lean more towards the idea, that he know what was coming before and laughed about it, but remembered he should act like he is moved by the emotional speech

I'm more amused that THAT is what he paused at. Not "all the others are rubbish" or "I'm the entertainment format Jesus".
To be fair, he may not have read it in it's entirety, and was having a ptsd flashback to the time Greg told the world Alex thinks his wife doesn't pull her weight in the child-reading department. 😂

There’s a beautiful humbleness about Alex Horne, he’s talented in so many ways,a brilliant musician,subtle ego free acting skills and has impeccable comic timing. Love the guy to bits!
This made my entire day. There is no show on earth more deserving of this reward than Taskmaster. I laughed more at this 3 and a half minute video than I have laughed at anything in a week

I had to watch it a couple of times, the joy in the room was almost palpable.
All the previous contestants in the crowd made this all the better! The fact he went ahead and read it shows true commitment!

There is almost a 100% chance that he co-wrote it with Greg, or might have even written it on his own. This was certainly planned.

@@o0Theresa0o Yes it was written, it exists as words. Perhaps written by Greg, yes, or maybe perhaps Alex actually writing the 'text', like the premise of the joke claims. It is the use of the logic of 100% where your statement falls short. What if the premise is *true* - but Alex didnt really write it? What if Alex is actually really shy and Greg wrote it as a suprise joke for Alex to read? Who is Alex, Really? We dont know them! Do you know Greg wrote it, or it was co-written? Have you asked them? Would they even tell you the truth?

You may be carefree with using the phrase "100% chance" along with such choices as "certainly." If youll permit me to explain, I believe this to be less a case of the psuedorelationships we form online, as of course, you will be aware of the fact that there is a 99.9 percent chance you dont know either comedian, but simply a free use of numbers, though reckless and wanton.
In short, I choose to believe, with all my heart, body, mind and soul, that there can never be a true "100% chance." I have recently chosen to rectify this mistake wherever I come across it, to free the crushed perecentages from the weight of the reckless use of the big double-o. Hence this message.

Alex and Greg are so good at their respective personas that it's easy to forget just how diabolical Little Alex Horne really is. Remember this is the man behind the "eat your exotic sandwich" task and many others. I would not be at all surprised if Alex himself wrote that speech to give to Greg to force Alex to read.
Thought the same thing - that Alex really wrote it. The devilish, seemingly-dorky mastermind behind the scenes …

This is Greg's style of speech for sure and not Alex's. Alex will have agreed to it but I think that's genuine reluctance and consternation on his face from the beginning. Sometimes in the show yes Greg has lines that Alex and/or writers have given him. This is payback.
We need to get Greg a tailor. The taskmaster needs a royal suit.

Have really enjoyed the uploads of the show on youtube, it has really brought up my spirits during this time of peril and uncertainty. Due to my love of this show, my lovely fiance recently gifted me the Taskmaster board game for my birthday, and I literally could not wait to play it. Did a couple rounds of tasks and I havent laughed like that in nearly two years.

The best thing about Taskmaster that it will never get old. I even enjoy the different versions of the show. The Finnish one, Norwegian and without a doubt Taskmaster New Zealand. And it all started because Alex set Tasks out to comedians during the Edinburgh Fringe.
As an American, this show has opened my eyes to the brilliance of English comedy and culture.

Alex is someone we should all strive to be like.
I find myself watching the repeat showings often, and I wouldn't be surprised if some parts will be remembered like those Monty Python sketches that are endlessly quoted! I've been enjoying the Norwegian version which has managed to capture that feelgood factor.
