A good video I have the same set up the only difference is I don’t have the Rhode mic (I purchased for $25 back in 2019 or 2020 the edutige 001) it’s a smaller mic that plugs straight into the mic adapter one of the reasons I got this mic instead was because I didn’t need to mount it ontop of the GoPro because it’s so small it plus right into the side.
Yes there is not much of difference. It's mostly noticeable when you're outside in a windy environment. That's where the gopro falls short. So I only recommend buying an external mic if you also plan to use the mic on another camera or potentially in a studio set up where you need the mic close to you, and the camera is a distance aways. That's sounds like a good set-up. There is no need to worry about the mic being in your field of view.
