Jamie, as a long-time subscriber and intermediate hobbyist photographer, I just want to express how grateful I am. You're hands down the best teacher I've come across in photography. My relationship with photography feels almost sublime, and your videos are like reading a sacred text-genuinely. As someone else mentioned, the visuals are absolutely immaculate! Whenever you drop a new video, I always make sure to carve out time to watch (and rewatch) it religiously. I hope you're in better health, and I wish you all the best. Love from India!
Jamie, I am so, so glad that you only post when you want to. The quality you put out puts anything to shame that’s posted purely for consistency’s sake. Your videos are approachable and helped me a lot when I was a beginner, but as someone who has stepped into professional photography, I still come away with inspiration from your videos. I think this goes to show that you provide quite a bit of depth (especially for a Youbtube channel, when most content on this platform is pretty shallow), but explain it in really clear terms through on-point scripting, examples and really useful animation work. Also, the attention to detail in your animations is incredible! They add something playful which to me just communicates how passionate you are. That in itself is inspiring! =)
Dude knows how to make a video that is information dense, thought provoking, informative, and entertaining. All without a wasted moment on any kind of nonsense. I respect the hell out of it.
I love these videos, you use a lot of subtle visuals while maintaining a calm video which has some great insights. You also assume your audience is knowledgeable which is a relief on youtube. Thanks for the great work!
Takes one back to the heady days when watching photography-related videos was still fun. Yet there's a fresh twist to the presentation. So appreciated, Jamie. Stay safe and well.
A day when you upload is a great day! Just recently, I have been re-watching a bunch of your older videos. Thank you for the work you do and all the best for you personally! Great to see you back on TH-cam! :)
Every time one of these videos gets posted; I rush to watch it. Of all the photographer's channels I follow, this channel has the most thoughtful, well-made and useful videos. I feel about them the same way I feel about some of my favorite shows or documentaries. As usual, this video is a commentary, an introduction to artist photographers, a guide to practical information, and a motivation video that makes you think and want to try something new. Thank you for these, I am going to pick up my camera now.
Nice to find a genuinely useful photography video for a change! I do try to use some of these elements in my photography but it’s nice to have all these composition and editing guides in one handy video. Photography is a never ending learning experience and I find it is always useful to keep guides like these in mind when out photographing and reviewing the final edited photos. Often I find photos I like can still lack something and it’s useful to try to understand how I can improve next time, especially if I have the luxury to revisit a particular location.
That was a great video for all photographers! Thank you. You really do have one of the top 5 photography channels on TH-cam. Your production quality and creativity is a gold standard.
Welcome back! Your videos are always veri informative and nice to watch. Sometimes I enjoy your older videos, "9 quick tips for BETTER BLACK & WHITE photos" is my absolute favourite.
How I wait for Jamie’s original thinking in very well presented videos! This is one of my top top channels, and the only one with the little bell notification. A heartfelt thank you from a Shanghailander 🎉
Thank you so much for these videos that you make. It's such a joy to get to see through your eyes and improve the way I look at things when I'm snapping photos. I don't spend enough time looking at other people's work and it's great to get to look at it with someone who knows how to verbalize what is going on.
Pretty great video tbh. I rarely see anyone with anything longer than a 35mm nowadays. Also many just go the B&W route as the easy mode of "wow" photos.. which usually doesn't work. What B&W without consideration does is makes your photo a bit less worse than it is because you removed the visual clutter of colors, but it's not gonna turn an uninteresting photo into a good one, it just feels lazy. I always have my 70-200 slapped on as my go to lens and try to stick with colors unless I work with deep shadows and go for B&W , but even then I sometimes fall for some of the mistakes depicted in this video and it's always a good reminder. Getting carried away and getting tighter and tighter shots until it's a complete dud instead of letting negative space tell the story. Well done Jamie!
Jamie that was so interesting and incredibly helpful and motivating. I really enjoy listening to you decontructing photos and explaining techniques its good to see a photography channel broadening peoples horizons not just pushing gear or one specific style of photography - keep up the good work!
One word to describe this video - generous - I think it is a gift to many aspiring photographers and I found it invigorating and thought-provoking, so thank you for sharing these words of wisdom and inspiring images. You turned me onto a number of new photographers to follow
Mr Windsor! So pleased to se you back and I hope you are better. As ever, this is a brilliant, intelligent and very useful guide - this time to interesting compositions. As someone who loves the avant-garde and surrealism, I do try. But this video introduces me to a whole range of approaches and techniques which will be so useful if my brain obliges. Thank you so very very much. Good luck!
Jamie, thank you for all the effort and time you put into your videos. We notice all those beautiful details. Overall, thank you for provoking the inner energy to go out and take pictures. You inspire us to keep going and improving.
Ah! Glad to see you back. Really valuable points going on here, and because I have an important trip coming next week, I've been reminded of what I should be crafting. どうもありがとうございます!
Great tips and even better production values! I appreciated the segues between tips and the use of examples from each photographer in various tips. This must have been an astounding amount of work to put together. Thanks for it!
I think the thing about getting close when shooting people, is that there's a different emotional feel to an image that's shot with a 35mm, where the subject fills the frame, as opposed to the same scene with an 85 or 105mm with similar framing. Those shots feel more intimate. Of course, that's not the only way to do photography, as you eloquently describe in this gem of a video!
The effects in your videos must take an age Jamie - they really add to the visual experience though. They are simply amazing! This was such an enjoyable watch, every single minute of it. Loved the banana drop and bat 😂 One quick question if I may? You find some amazing photographers to discuss - where do you go to find them all?
Although not a influx of videos from your channel, when you do upload it is of the highest quality, always really convey the artistic elements of photography and a very intelligent breakdown of what ever topic your covering, have to say my favourite photography related channel... a break from the do these 5 things type content
Oh the skateboarder. 😅 Actionsportphotography is same same but different. You can narrow down but without a deep understanding of the story/context lots of photographers, that are not familar with the sport and required skill, to show enought context/story to the scene. So you end up with pictures that are trash to those who know, but work for those, that dont know. They are between appraling to the masses to promote the sport AND a trophy to the person who is showing its skills. I hope this explanation makes sense. 😅 Just wanted to raise awareness. And your tips are fire. Like almost each and every release. Thanks for taking the time to show us so much knowledge in such a great presentation. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Masterpiece of a TH-cam clip! I always feel ashamed that I use more tele as for me wide angle can (most of the time) only work if you have some "layered objects" in the scene. Night shots of the sky are a good example - first fascinating because of the "unnormal", but soon getting boring. But on the other hand, people say it about tele shots as well - who am I to know.
@@73jayzee It's stock drone footage of the location I was shooting in. The transition was just a fake whip pan in After effects made with the final frame of the drone footage and the first frame of the talking head shot joined together in Photoshop.
Jamie, content aside, I see your visuals are still the gold standard in all of youtube land.
Thank you
I had to rewind to see again some of the transitions or effects included, so much quality to digest at once.
The best photography channel on TH-cam IMHO. Period.
When Jamie Windsor posts I drop what I’m doing and watch the video 👌🏻
Me too!!!
And me!
Yup. Precisely.
Same here!
Yes, indeed!
Great to have you back again. 😊

I've been unfollowing a huge number of channels (I simply don't care about gear); but, it's a pleasant surprise to see you pop up, Jamie.
Great job, Jamie. You are the first person I suggest to new photographers. Really impressive, well thought-out work here.

Great stuff and very appreciative of your advice. Welcome back to YT!
Hopefully you’re in better health Jamie. Positive vibes from Bangkok and thanks again for sharing your knowledge here on TH-cam

Pretty impressive the sound quality in such a windy day
Combination of a good wind muff and AI processing to remove the noise. Sounds almost like ADR.
Hey Jamie! It is great to see you again, hope that you are ok! Thanks for such a good video. Your work is really an inspiration, thanks!
I like 'The rule of thirds' in landscape' photography (leading-lines etc)
Incredibly useful video. Very well made, I enjoyed it very much. You've got my sub. Thank you for this.
Amazin narrativa and effects ☝🏼🙌🏼👏🏼
I'm guessing the controversial one will be "the McCurry method." I'm at 2:00 in the video, as a reference.
Yep.
brilliant, thank you

Fantastic Jamie. Just please don’t leave it so long next time. ❤❤❤
Great video again, thank you!

Another editing banger! 💥👏
Also: "Donald Dump" 😂👌
The hybrid creature formed when Donald Duck and Donald Trump stepped into Seth Brundle's teleport cubicle together.
Yes I think there was possibly another "foreign object" in the chamber too 😆
Excellent content and advice, as usual
Another video with super content! I wonder how you can process colors in post to get them consistent like for example Craig does ? Thx Jamie!
Another amazing video!!!
