  • We attempt to install a heavy punching bag by hanging it directly off the concrete ceiling of my condo unit. Do we make it, or is this a complete disaster? You let us know in the comments below!

I have good insulation and keep the sessions short if I go hard, no complaints yet! But yes there's no way around it, you're going to make some noise.

Ok so I wanna hung up 2 punching bags in one location on garage and on other side of garage rings and climbing rope, my ceilings only 8ft high so climbing rope will be use for other exercises.
I will be using a 2x4 or maybe 2x6 board across maybe 3 joist for punching bags. I have a strut channel which will be attach to boards 2x4 or 2x6 board. For the rings and rope they will be mounted on a rogue ring hunger which I will attach to a board too.
I been using lag bolts to hung up stuff from ceiling, however people have been saying to use GRK RSS14312HP RSS HandyPak 1/4 by 3-1/2-Inch Structural Screws which are easier and stronger than the lag bolts and don't have to predrill??
Will these grk be good to mout weight pegs on wall or lag bolts will be better for this?

      Hey Marco!
i have not personally used any of these two types of bolts to suspend any significant load, but from what i am reading, the lag bolt should be the much sturdier one.
For your connexion: whichever one you go with, very the tensile loading capacity that it can support, that will be on the packaging itself. That load must be equal or higher to the required tensile capacity of the bag attachement bracket (if it came specifically with that bag), if it is something custom that you are trying to do, you will need the weight of the bag and to account for a proper impact factor.
For your support system: it is hard to evaluate without a proper plan view, thickness of that plywood board spans and dimensions.. you could pm me more info so i can maybe help you out.
you will want your bag to be as close as possible, if not directly under that strut channel, to avoid having the plywood bend downwards and failing.

no way jose that is NOT how you want to install bolts into wood, especially if they are carrying a load, especially if they are upside down. the nuts are literally doing nothing lmfao. look guys, i get it, you're diyers, and sure, your method managed to hold up to those weak ass punches and kicks but you are far from pros (the knife sharpener said it all, so did the tarp, so did the hammer, andddd so did your helmet) and i wouldnt be showing people how to do shit when you're doing it wrong. I want to see the size of the lumps on peoples heads when those bolts slide out and that bracket rocks em real good (hope they have some good head movement). also while im here let me remind you that you can adjust the angle grinders shield to block the sparks, should be quick and easy.

      Hi Mujo,
First of all thanks for the comment. the channel takes it as constructive criticism.
Getting back on topic, i guess you did not notice the video CLEARLY shows the anchor support being drilled into CONCRETE. The rest of your comment simply does not apply. Failure mechanisms of the anchor is gouverned by the breakout of the anchor, as opposed to anything you just said. You'll be happy to know the bag has been going strong ever since installation
Btw this video was not a tutorial, but an experiment that was done for your entertainment.
