I bought a "not working" xbox from ebay for a similar amount. The listing was from a charity (thrift) store that just said "powers on, flashes red and no display cable to test. Sold for parts" instantly had that down as they didn't know what they were doing and scooped it. Plugged it in with a display cable and it worked just fine! Result
It seems as if you didn't replaced the clock cap. The 1.6 clock cap isn't as prone to failure as the 1.0-1.4, but I've seen some nasty 1.6 caps and they are still not safe. If you want to replace it, then make sure you have a replacement, because the 1.6 doesn't work without one.
i blew up mine it was plugged in to the wall and off and it like made a pop sound and had a burning plastic smell taking it for repair tomorrow hopefully damage isnt serious
😮 *gasp* “Oh my Gosh!!!” 2:36 😂

That's the best! I had the same thing happen with a "broken" PS4 that I bought for a video, but when I got it home it worked fine 😅

I'm also getting into soldering, have been refurbishing for a long time tho. I really enjoyed the video!
Thanks so much! Yea it's a great hobby and really satisfying 😁
That’s all great, but… how does this help me win at Pong?

Great video - informative and entertaining!
Thanks! 😁
please install a raspberry pi as a modchip which is so much better than a softmod even if its in beta.
I am playing with a Pi Pico for another video so it's good to know people are curious to see more of those kinds of mods - thanks for the input!
